  • How do you manage to keep all those roots suspended in the tank like that?

  • good fish to keep the wild fish are some harder but the other ones are easy to keep if you just keep cleaning it each week and feed them 2 ore 3 times a day.

  • where did you get all your wood inside the tank? Thanks.

  • Difficult fish to keep. really touchy.

  • @freelancechemist not at all, but sure not a beginners fish

  • @HansDiscus They need a RO water system don't they?

  • @freelancechemist We keep all the Discus here on Baltimore tap water. RO can be useful by breeding to get a higher hatching rate. I just posted a new movie with a pair with fry, those are on straight tap water (+ dechlorinator of course)

  • so freaking loud

  • @zharnotczar turn the sound off lol lol

  • @HansDiscus I meant the tank, not the video volume :p It looks kinda like you have a big fish room, but if it were me, I would definitely work to make it more silent.

  • @zharnotczar my friend we have about 350 tanks you can't make those silent, there is a movie of a tour of the fish house. Hard to make all those tanks silent and still let them function at best.

  • @zharnotczar see: Fish house tour part 1 Discus Hans USA Baltimore Importer of Stendker Discus ~ Germany

  • @HansDiscus Well, I certainly am embarrassed now. Sorry for the insult; I usually make sure they're deserved beforehand.

  • @zharnotczar don't be embarrassed my friend, I didn't see it as an insult. It is a lot of noise, but funny thing is still if 1 of the pumps makes a strange sound, I hear it lol lol

  • what kind of wood are those?

  • that sure is one jungle of a tank

  • Excellent work. Love your fish. Thank you. I'm hoping to complete my discus Amazon biotope tank in a few months. 75gallon. I see some YouTube videos with Discus and Geophagus (eartheaters) and they seem to do well together. Any experience with these?

  • @dyamarick Thank you.

If you want to do that, I wouldn't take too small Discus. With the Geo's around they could get to less food,

    Hans

  • Hi Sascha,

Your English is great don't worry.

    This tank is 200 gallon x 3.85 = 770 liter

    Hans

  • @HansDiscus Hi you have got your figures wrong there are 4.55ltr to a gallon which = 910 ltrs sorry to correct you. uk gallons

  • @discus1584 I'm in the USA and I just made a nice number. It's 200 x 3.785411 = 757.0822 liter.

  • @HansDiscus ok m8 thanks for reply us & uk different in gallons forgot about that, did not know where u lived thanks again. im planning a large Amazon discus setup 150" x 33" x 24" with filter underneath should hold about 500 uk gallons in an L shape cost of of the tank £3,300 in glass.

  • Hello, my name is Sascha Grünewald. I am from Germany. I'm sorry for my english. I got a question for their aquarium. How big is it? Because I want to do me well in my discus aquarium 200Liter and thought if it is so large aquarium?

  • @MySCOOTERTUNING

junge, lass deinen namen bei Dir. Hier is das Internet.

  • looks amazing.

  • i just go a 70 gal and i want to do a plated fish tank u got tips

  • Are those mangrove roots? Do you know where can i purchase them from ?

  • @sharmla I got them here: manzanita at com

    at = dot

    Hans

  • @HansDiscus Thanks Hans , i just looked at their website. They have a big choice. Which one did you order for yout tank? Was it from Aquarium packs or Individual Pieces and Stumps? Which item number? Thanks for your help. After i saw your tank , i want mine to look the same :-)

  • @sharmla I ordered an aquarium pack, give them the size of your tank and they take care of it.

  • nice but remove that dam awful noise, and put some music on........ :0)

  • @1bukowski

I know, I know, now if I can find out how, I will lol lol

    But I'm just a Discus freak, not a computer expert :>) :>)

  • I agree with DudefromMaryland , these guys are wild cought i guess.... nice set up

  • They may not be the most colorful discus, but their natural beauty is worth way more in my opinion. They're gorgeous, in a wonderful setup.

  • The Tank set up looks great but, I hate those discus! They don't appear to be as hot as the other ones I typically see. At any rate I give your tank a 10 out of 10 stars. The livestock gets a 7...

  • @DudefromMaryland

Dude, it's ll in the eye of the beholder, those are wild/wild looking Discus. If you try to copy a piece of nature you don't put Discus like Pigeon Bloods, Marlboro's, Blue Diamonds, etc in a tank like that, but...... who am I..........

    Hans

  • @HansDiscus Oh... so the spectacular looking discus, the ones that can compete with salt water fish in beauty aren't natural? They aren't in the wild? I didn't know that.

  • Hans - It is a stunning, simply elegant and beautiful set up. The ease of the fish (not in that defense posture, lol, one often sees them in) says it all!

  • wow that is a sweet tank

  • Wow that is amazing!!, the fish look so relaxed, :) the plants make it look so kool!

  • Thank you,

    Hans

  • i like your lighting. are you running blue led's or moonlights? your water looks fairly clear. youre running a uv sterilizer almost guaranteed. id suggest a little more colorful lowlight plants like amazon swords or watersprite. elodia works in some cases as well as cabomba. id also go with a whiter sand? ad far as the discus go, there beautiful. Ever consider some marlboro reds? i had 8 but i gave them away. anyway, nice tank. i like the fish more. mustve costed a pretty penny. or a thousand.

  • Hi WhiteLotus, no moon light, just 4 2" strips, that's all. No UV at all, I only have filter foam all the way from left to right behind the back ground, behind the foam are 3 power head (2 x 900 + 1 x 1,200) that puts the water over the back ground.

This is a wild looking tank, Marlboro's don't fit in that. Probably going to put some wilds in the tank. Most of those Stendkers Alenquers/Santarem are sold by now. We add a 200 Cardinals. I like the sand and the tank is in my business/fish house.

  • i dont want to critisicze anything but they seem to be so - uncollourfull :S

  • It's a piece of the wild, Colorful Discus won't survive in the wild lol

    Hans

  • @Question150 Have you ever scuba dived. The fish look less colorful due to the light rays not penetrating - more blue the deeper one goes(blue rays reach further down) yet if one were to shine a light all the colors would be displayed. Same here - in the wild some of the fish with "neon" aspects are that way as their native water is often so murky or full of tannins that is how they (one manner) detect one another.

  • wow i love it!!! 5 Stars Awesome!!!

  • Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hans

  • 200 gallon? My 200 is 8ft long and looks way bigger than this.

  • 5' x 3' x 2' high by my numbers 200+ gallon

    Hans

  • Amazing Work!

  • Glad you like it, I do too, only the plants need to fill in a little more.

    Hans
