  • don't need it. don't want it. plenty of other products out there that do NOT hurt the forests and the animals.

  • @T2W2ful name it

  • better to eat palm oil than coca cola

  • Palm oil production does destroy rainforests. Do they not have to clear out rainforests to fit palm trees? Palm oil production does increase global warming. Do they not burn swaths of rainforests to make room for the palm trees? Palm oil production does kill not just orangutans, but many other species not found anywhere else. Do they not think these animals live in the rainforests they clear out and burn? How ignorant and illogical it is to say these facts are lies.

  • Millions of people are being killed by USA armies in IRAQ, Afghanistan, Pakistan, but the world just silent...now they are talking to save orang Utan...these western people are hypochyrite..

  • @anuarag67 people had choice! orangutans didnt!

  • @subculturalgirl89 you are right people have choice not to kill other people, they have brain but orangutans donot. But these western armies/govt are still killing innocent people under the term" war on terror". Imagine in Iraq alone more than 2.5 million children are killed by USA/NATO/Western armies, they have no choice also.

  • @anuarag67 i know my country was also bombed by NATO

  • Very true....how much forest left in europe or western countries? They destroying their forest with acid rains, radioactives from nuclear plat etc. Palm oil is the future !!

  • not true at all, palm oil is DESTROYING THE RAINFOREST.

It's also carcinogenic, which means causes cancer

don't eat or use palm oil products

  • @cedcwelt depend on what they need if we go to brazil the soy farm are distroying the forest.

  • great video. Keep it up!

  • A misleading video that omits information. At 1.10 the video cites Henson 1999 showing how much C is absorbed, this graph only shows how much is absorbed it does not show how much is released i.e. whether palm oil is a net source or sink? I suggest people read CARBON FLOW AND BUDGET IN A YOUNG MATURE OIL PALM

AGROECOSYSTEM ON DEEP TROPICAL PEAT by Melling et al which finds palm oil is a carbon source overall when taking the whole palm oil process into account

  • This is bullshit. Some

  • Information overload. First I hear palm oil is one of the worst things in the world, but now I'm hearing it's "green". Who do I believe?

  • compare with the mighty, evil Monsanto, palm oil plantation can at least save alot of people from poverty and able to meet the global oil demand with lesser land. The biggest problem about palm oil is that they clear the rainforest and damage peat bogs, resulting biodiversity loss, GHG emission and impact social well-being of indigenous population. Secondly, palm oil plantation is suspected to violate human right as they treat their labor badly. But beyond that palm oil plantation is not that bad

  • a gift from nature, did you ask? a gift for life & you kill? take take take take - what do you give, you dont give a monkeys .

bring back Hemp you dont need to cut down the forest or kill.

  • sad who they trying to convince us or them?

its in our food soaps cosmetics so called Green fuel -mney money money. will the trees make more money. sad sad sad. people aint stupid.check out GREEN FILM.

  • This vid is bullshit cos it leaves out the important facts like how much rainforest is destroyed each year and the how quickly species become extinct. once the habitat is gone, its gone forever. Maker of this vid, everyone knows your a complete bullshit artist and no one here is on your side.

  • @swat26visor People need to do their own research and find the facts and truth on their own, if not, then people like this come along and try to convince you that habit destruction is alright. it is true that palm oil makes money, but at what cost?

  • Well, at least people aren't stupid enough to believe your message. No harm will be done here. These facts you use to back up your claim are utterly irrelevant, but I'm sure you know that.

  • As someone with family in Indonesia I hear directly from those who witness the disgusting facts of what this video leaves out. It is not just Greenpeace that have a major issue with the current palm oil industry.

Breeding facility's world wide who work with the animal species that are getting wiped out are putting up a global fight to bring a end to this before we lose hundreds of endangered species like the orangutan, the siamang gibbon and the sumatran tiger (just to name a few).

  • Palm Oil does have excellent yield, but if you burn down forest, destroy habitat and also make up 'facts' then you will inevitably destroy both the forest and your industry.

"...work together to develop a robust and verifiable supply-chain tracking mechanism for palm oil. The palm oil industry's best interests lie in leading these efforts rather than attempting to scam the public. Such underhanded tactics will only come back to hurt them in the future."

  • Hey you got me thinking so I checked all your quoted sources (easy google search) and found a few facts that make your claims laughable (if they weren't so dangerous).

So it turns out that the razing of rainforest to make way for palm oil plantations causes massive quantities of CO2 to be released into the atmosphere (deforestation in Indonesia causes 80% of Indonesia's Carbon emissions making it the 3rd largest emitter of Greenhouse Gas).

  • so if people are killing orangutans, then enforce some fucking laws before it's too late. But seriously, if we don't use palm oil, what's a greener alternative?

  • @pulsedrop Easy there, buddy. Whoever propagate anything against palm oil are nothing but a group of excuse-making hypocrites who have their own political agenda.

Fine, if those peoples are really care for environment then what about oil from canola, olive, soy and cocoa then?

  • wtf? palm oil is BAD!!!!!!!! Dont u understand how many orangutans it kills, native homes it destroys AND causes heart disease!!!!??? palm oil is TERRIBLE u have it ALL WRONG

  • @WildlifeWarriorLucy THEN WHAT HAPPEN TO LAND ENCROACHED BY SOY OIL AND CANOLA OIL THEN?!

  • Would be nice if the people making this vid UNDERSTOOD the carbon cycle. The CO2 absorbed by growing palm oil is then released back into the environment when the palm oil is used. Where do you think the carbon goes? Unless it is left alone as plant matter it is completely irrelevant how much CO2 is absorbed.

  • So you may (or may not, your grasp of the science seems sketchy) be more efficiently making usable fuel, but don't pretend that palm oil is sequestering CO2 - that's just a lie.

  • That was a fairly one sided view on the matter. I do agree with some of the points though, palm oil in the future will become extremely popular and sustainable. However at the moment it's doing a lot more damage than is necessary. Destruction of peatlands and forest is not the right way to go about planting palm oil. Governments should take a larger role in protecting the industry without destroying its natural resources. There is plenty of land for Malaysian to cultivate, which isn't rainforest

  • all sentient beings deserve to live ...thanx for sharing this info...

  • nice vid man...like the sound and the presentation...very easy going and informative..

  • tomatoslater, that is a very interesting fact! wow, that must be an official number given from a very accurate scientific study. care to share?

  • hmmm.....i dont think so...when i'm in orang utan island in Malaysia what can i see they help to give better living to the orang utan...very good move they made to prevent the orang utan from vanish on this world...

  • poo on

    palm oil

50 orangutans are dying a week

  • Are you so touched by Greenpeace hypocritical propaganda, who doesn't even consider other culprits as well?

Perhaps you had just made the same mistake by the western public during the hey-day of soy oil boom. Only this time however, it may politically motivated.

  • It's not propaganda! Greenpeace are only telling us the truth! OBVIOUSLY it isn't the only culprits, but Greenpeace aren't expecting people to be that stupid.

  • Greenpeace is fighting a war that, maybe for environment, that I won't dismiss.

However, no matter what war it is, truth is always the first casualty.
