This is without a doubt, one of the greatest film noir movies in existance. The chemistry between the Cummins and Dall is perfect (a great Bonnie and Clyde vibe for sure only she's the instigator instead of him), and the cinematography is absolutely stunning, especially in the opening scene, the shot from within the store when the kid (Dall's character as a kid) breaks a store window to steal the gun. Peggy Cummin's character's cold blooded in this. This is in my film noir top ten for sure.
What a rollercoaster ride! Just saw this for the first time recently. I'd heard and read about it, knew it was a cult classic but had NO IDEA just how terrific it was.
Everything about it, the visual style, gritty atmosphere, great acting and score just grabs you and doesn't let go. Also, sexy as hell. I wish all screen couples have the steamy chemistry Dall and Cummins do.
I love noirs in general but even the greats aren't quite this good. Love it!
thanks for posting! very interesting clip! (i was born in 1965 and have just started to watch all the film noir of 1940s -1950s) artistic how the the huge police giant slowly awakens and starts to grasp...for them...cool!
Heavens to Murgatroid!!! What an amazing clip! My ALL TIME favorite film noir! A true classic in every department! What a dyamite team John Dall & Peggy Cummins made. What a hot babe she was! Hubba hubba to the max, daddy-o! Can't even tell she was British! And John Dall was a very underated actor. The director (Joseph H Lewis) could do wonders with a small budget. What a master of visual style. Can't get enough of this flick! THANKS so much for sharing it with us! Have a HAPPY New Year!
Francois Truffaut had the writers of Bonnie & Clyde watch this movie for inspiration.

I particularly enjoyed how the guy almost killed her ass by leaving those two swing doors to rebound right in her face.
