  • Lol i wonder how long it takes for him to set up in a club..

  • @jessevdriel once I set up 4 Decks Traktor (w/ 4 CDJs) - 2 Laptops, sync'd ableton Maschine and traktor between laptops and 2 X1's in 60 seconds at Global Gathering russia when I was setting up for Dubfire because Above and Beyond wouldn't play one more song. Might have been a world record

  • You still need to add 2 turntables on the Kontrol s4.

  • @JAHKAMREN Yes, I love using the turntables with the S4!!

  • hey mike,

whats the actual model of that laptop as over here in the uk dell only do up to 6gb? can u help?

  • @sebastiendjuk f Dell's Studio XPS laptop

  • spent that whole time setting up a million controllers and the first thing you do when you start playing is go to the laptop's trackpad...

  • @sjenkin1 Agreed was a lol no need for all that its nice and all but over kill and also the comment on mac well you shouldn't have a problem spending the extra money with all that unnecessary tech ? and cost is not the point Mac works better with traktor and its controllers especially the S4!!! anyway thanx for the vid Guy :)

  • @biohazardaxe Hey its like that saying use it if you got it.

  • @sjenkin1 Yup, unfortunately the only way to search for a track is by going to the laptop unless you have an external keyboard

  • Show off man..

  • @karlos7eberl Yup totally. This video I was definitely a show off. I won't argue with you on that one :) Showing off how powerful PCs are and how much you can have running on them.

  • this is really really a overkill expensive setup xD its stupid to use maschine as buttons for basic commands you could do right of the S4 instead. most of the price for the maschine goes into the terrific software its build to work with.

  • @latheck2 Actually I use Maschine (as a MIDI controller) with the S4 all the time mainly because I can customize my MIDI mapping more on Maschine and have some great Macros set up, then the S4 I use as my mixer and for more powerful control over Traktor. But see my previous comment about the point of this video. I wouldn't use it live. But tons of fun using at home in the studio :)

  • Sick set up. This is realy almost overkill

  • @ArubaKamba Yes I wouldn't use this setup outside of my home studio. Microsoft wanted me to show how I can use all of these controllers and Traktor on a PC and show that it works stable - which it does. That was the point of this video.

  • @DeeJayEndo I thought so :) But between you and I, Mac would be preferable in this case, right?

  • if i just want the maschine mapping alone, were do i find it?

  • ur cpu is off the chartss. no audio drop??

  • I cannot get the Maschine mapping to work :( I have uploaded the TSI and set the input/output but does not work.

  • so much controllers but such fu**ing boring music

  • it prompts 4 authentification ??? cant dl the map. can anyone help?

  • @nquisy The link should be fixed now.

  • I just puked buttons.

  • where can i get me one of those cool usb cables?

  • Hi Dubspot, love all the videos, will you guys be doing a feature on the DJM-T1 anytime soon? :)

  • @sargdesigns Yes, we did a feature on the DJM-T1 on the Dubspot Blog. See DJs Shiftee's Love Letter to the DJM T1. Just google DJ Shiftee DJM-T1 Dubspot. Prepare to laugh your ass off.

  • @DeeJayEndo Wsup Endo? Thanks for the reply! I actually read that before I purchased my DJM-T1, and as suggested, had quite the chuckle! :D I was kinda hoping to see you guys do some more hands with the mixer coupled with TSP2/or/DUO (lil demo vid, perhaps?), just to watch you guys dig a little deeper into some of the mixers features that I am surely overlooking during my daily routine. Thanks!

  • Right man.... throw in the audio 8 and djm to try and appease those who will STILL thumb their nose at you for using traktor. Those of us who use controllers know what you're trying to pull... and in the end you pretty much just look like just as big of a dick to the cdj AND controllerism crowd.

  • @ffrgtm that made no sense whatsoever buddy.

  • why do you have a midi controller and a mixer...

  • @GeeksCreation So I can route each deck into its own channel of the Pioneer Mixer. I prefer to use an analog mixer over Traktors internal mixer. Sound quality and feel is much better and less latency. - Endo

  • watch?v=xh2KmGD8jT4

  • @albericmiftah Sick video man. Big ups!!! - Endo

  • how can you use the x1 or other midi controller with led? can you show me how to do it? thank u

  • @DJredan You can program LED output in Traktor just like you would program any MIDI command except instead of clicking "ADD IN" in the preferences - controller manager you would click "ADD OUT" and you can MIDI map your LED outputs.

  • where do they sell those usb lighting cables in new york ?? ????

  • @guillenrossi on ebay theyre like a dollar LOL

  • @FreedomOVA a dollar on ebay lol

  • Id rather have my mac

  • mad props to ya dj endo .. i think yours and dj shiftee's toots have made me jump ship from serato to traktor pro 2 . i already have a maschine and a traktor certified mixer ( korg zero 4 midi/audio/soundcard mixer ) + a high spec dell.... is that all i'd need for this mothership mapping set up or do you need all of that kit ?>?>?>? ... also good to see a solid pc being propped instead of the classic mac book pro .

  • @EEZAL there really is no practical use for this setup, its total overkill

  • @psyconall yeah it is although if you read the upload description i think it's proving that the dell will keep up performance with all those usb devices plugged in opposed to the ideological mac book pro . im looking at using a mixer ( korg zero 4 ) and controlling traktor with the maschine and an audio 8 . im interested in the midi mapping of this demo tho ....

  • wait? a S4 that has an internal audio card and an Audio 8?

  • What a video well dod Dubspot....

  • no audio 10? Fail and overkill

  • @dholling10 Audio 10 wasn't out and wasn't functional when we were recording these, but why would we use an Audio 10 when using a 4 channel mixer anyways?

  • @DeeJayEndo The teaser video with the audio 10 came out a month before this was posted, so it was definitely functional, and i'm pretty sure that you can work the loop recorder into this massively impractical setup

  • Comment removed

  • I'd rather just go with the S4 and the maschine....having the maschine as a midi is just a waste. I also don't see the need for the mixer or the X1, S4 has 4 channels and can do many of the functions that the X1 offers. But I see the point of the video, just plugging in devices just to show how can handle the load.

  • why use a mixer and the s4? arent they the same thing?

  • @lesthanjakkickas good question, the S4 only controls the internal(virtual) mixer in traktor via MIDI whereas the pioneer mixer isnt virtual,it is analog which is usually better sounding and has much sharper EQs. It's usually better to use an analog mixer

  • @lesthanjakkickas I prefer an actual Audio mixer over the S4 since it has no latency and feels more "real" to me. However the S4 is an amazing controller that can do everything you can do in Traktor.

  • so your using the DellStudio XPS 16?

  • BTW, what is the purpose of the DJM800 in this set-up?

im sure u could do just as fine without it and the X1s, if not better.

Seems to be controllerism to an insanely cluttered/confusing level, does anybody else agree?

  • @pnoize yep, all you realy need are two X1'S and a solid mixer....using a 1000$ controller such as maschine simply for controlling traktor is a total waste

  • @pnoize Yeah im with you on this. Looks amazing. But buying a £500 Maschine to just use it as a MIDI pad is mental. Im pretty sure you can do almost everything with just the S4 and its many, many, many features and shifft features.

  • @pnoize Yes I totally agree. :-) BUT Playing with that much gear is a lot of fun to me. If you read the uploader comments you will see that the purpose of this video is to show that you CAN use all of this gear together with Traktor 2. Not that I would use all of this together live. The promoters would all hate me.

  • @pnoize You ca still use the 800s efx but as Richie Hawtin demonstrates, a maschine and 2 x1s and just about any mixer with 4 channels (he uses an Allen and Heath 92) can accommodate about anything you could want to do in the new tractor. I still love vinyl at home and drag 3 cdj1ks around to play out with. Im still warming up to the idea of needing to stare into a computer when live but am really interested in Traktor pro 2. In a studio or mixtape environment though I think it would be great

  • @pnoize I agree, couldnt you just use the S4 as the mixer, and use the maschine and X1s just as well?

  • @pnoize True! But I guess you wouldn't want to overload the S4 with everything going in because as their vid states that it runs through their software, it is NOT designed as an analogue standalone mixer, which would cause the S4 to crash. Look at Ean Golden's review on it :)

  • @pnoize I could do all that and more with an s4 and a midi fighter.

  • fuckin hell!.. how much does this bad boy set-up cost collectively!? im all jizzed out and salivating over it

  • Lol. It's so funny, everytime one guy uses a PC in one video all the PC users come out of the wood work and try to justify the mistake they made by not getting a Mac. U can get a 13 inch MacBook pro brand new for 1300. Getting a PC to save a couple hundred bucks is a huge mistake! Especially if your a musician. U can get a 24 inch iMac for 1100 too. Brand new. So by the time u buy all your virus protection and fixed all your problems u save nothing. Hahaha. Plus only Mac has 6 pin Fire

  • @dmoates420 Plus you can install bootcamp or VMWare obn any Mac to install any flavor of Windows your heart desires. Windows 7 has gotten better but still miles away from the stability of a Mac.

  • Mothership

    ...

  • Mothership

  • i really like how you incorporated the PC into the picture. Macbook pro is around $2500, i bought an Asus with 8 Gigs ram, 1 gig ATi video card, i7 Quad core processor. It has huge fans that keep the laptop really cool with out use of a cooling pad. Macs are over rated. Great set up name well deserved.

  • yea for sure I'm running a maschine and a kontrol s4 and that's all you pretty much need.

  • refreshing to see someone not using a mac!

  • I use windows exclusively and I've never had any problems with it and I'm on a mid-range laptop. P.s: The Dell XPS is far FAR more powerful then the macbook pro.

  • WHAT A FUCKING SETUP!

  • 2manycontrollers

  • @GarymcG nope. Not enough controllers! I want more >:-)

  • The S4 seems to obsolete your Maschine, why not retire it?

  • @SteveCrothers Because I Love my Maschine!!!

  • @DeeJayEndo Good enough reason for me lol

  • WHERE CAN I GET THESE USB Cables from?

  • where did you get the lighted USB cables from?

  • Why does he have pro 2 already? why can't I have it now! Thats bull.

  • get a XONE 4D

  • @sobie I'd rather have the Xone DB4!!

  • Thank you for the video and the Maschine MIDI mapping tips. Very informative! :)

  • I think I'd find it more confusing to have the three addtional controllers. The S4 has been suiting my purposes beautifully. I might integrate Maschine for beat juggling, cause the buttons are so nice. Does anyone honestly find room for all this gear in a club setting?

  • I think a nice clean setup would be the S4 with 2 X1s or 2 MidiFighters so you can control deck C and D. Im looking to get 2 MidiFighters soon to do this. Simple and effective.

  • @DjDarkster i recommend to lpd8s from akai...just map them urself.. check out spinrukus.. thats my page.. ill put up some tuturials. then just get one midifighter on the side to do some complex stuff...like super buttons.

  • @DjDarkster yeah. i mean, why does he make everything so complicated.

  • @DjDarkster a djm 700 or 800 with an audio 10 and 2 x1's with traktor pro2 is enough to do some nice 4 deck mixing.. i got that setup and i don't need the maschine or an s4..

  • sweet, diggin this video tutorials on the line / cd switches ... thank u !

  • And the whole Apple vs. PC war kicks off again...

    Who gives....

Don't like windows, then use a MAC and vice versa.

But I will say this; when you actually compare the 2 and that means Size of L1 and L2 cache you'l find there isn't much between the 2 machines. However the MAC will come with a DAW that you can also time stretch your tracks in, similar to ableton but without the need of parting with 4 - 500 Dollars.

  • Multiple loopers?

TOUCHING THE MOUSE?! As well as the djm 800?

Very fancy setup but to me it really seemed unnecessary. Please give an elaborate answer to why I'm wrong.

  • @BradRamsay Hey Brad, see Dubspot's comment above. This video was made to show that you can hook all of these controllers up and run them on a windows computer. However, I would love to play out with this full setup. I love the S4 for its jog wheels. I love the X1 for Browsing (I have browsing macros assigned) Hotcues, and FX and I love Maschine for Beatjump and my Magic cue / play sync button. You could do all of this on the S4, but I like having more toys to interact with when I play

  • @DeeJayEndo Hey good answer thanks!!

  • Awesome set up Endo!

Had a question though, If your using the 800 for the the channel faders, are you leaving the channel faders on the s4 fully open at all times? could the same set up be done without the 800?

open question to everyone as its probably a simple one..

    thank you

  • @Maleki88 When using Traktor 2 in External Mixing mode, the S4's volume faders don't work. I'm using the Pioneer 800's volume faders. You could do the same setup without the 800 but I prefer using the Pioneer Mixer over using Traktor's internal mixer personally. Different Strokes / Different Folks :)

  • Hate Apple! Used to use Logic on a PC and Apple bought the license and charged 4 times the price for their computers! Just the same components as a PC 4 4 times the price!

  • Better off just using the S4

  • When you understand what everything does, I think the Mothership would be great fun!

But I ask myselve, If the crowd would even hear if you have this set up, or a smaller one!

Nice video anyway! dubspot rulez! :)

  • @VJbasti Yes, Every piece of gear in the mothership has its own purpose. I use the jog wheels of the S4 for tracks that haven't been beatgridded to adjust them. I use the X1 for its 8 hotcues, and because I like using the FX on the X1 more, and Maschine I'm using as my main controller for DJing. The crowd wouldn't HEAR it, but I like having as many options as possible as it allows me to be more creative when I DJ.

  • this is a joke? this is NI response, to people not buying an s4, because is not "club friendly"

  • @ADSuing : Why is the S4 not club friendly? I don't own one but did consider buying it for club use. Would really like to know your thoughts as it's not the first time I've heard this.

  • Thanks to everyone commenting, just to clarify the point of this video is not to show the perfect setup, more to address the fact that people think you can't do complex audio stuff in real time on Windows. We wanted to come up with a big complex setup and show you how we put it together. Definitely for travelling you would be fine with one or two pieces of this.

  • @DubSpot Thanks for the clarification, I was a little confused by the sheer amount of redundant controls. Great video!

  • dude, the djm800 and the x1 is enogh :D

  • The only problem in this video is that audio 8 dj is not anymore availide cause native made the audio 10 which is not difference for the 8 exepte some visual and shit...

  • All those controllers and you still had to touch the computer? Could all of those functions of all the controllers not just be done on the S4?

  • the whole point of buying the S4 is to get rid of the rest of that setup? none of it is needed, you dont buy a S4 to control the loops or FX which you can do on the S4, but nice setup anyway!

  • THIS SETUP MAKES NO SENCE TO ME?!

what do you need all this stuff for? just use the sample buttons for your "set cue 1 + play + sync"-function and leave out all those other controllers? what are the advantages of being able to control my effects not only on the s4, but also on the x1's and the maschine? this setup is a waste of money and mobility, nothing else..

ah and by the way: i use a simple acer laptop for like 800 €, and i never had any problems jet..a mac couldn't do better :)

  • @warhead298 See my previous comment. This video was made to show that you CAN use all of these controllers together and get them to work flawlessly on a PC. I wouldn't necessarily travel with all of this gear, but if I would I could! I love using every controller for its own thing. S4 for pitch bend and filters, X1 for browsing and hotcues, Maschine for Magic Sync Macro and beatjump & FX. Glad you like your PC!

  • @DeeJayEndo

but you can do all things they showed in the video with the s4 ONLY! there would be awsome ways to use all the controllers at a time..using the maschine for creating your own beats, using a x1 for the thrid and forth fx or advanced sample deck control..but this way..

  • Thi video was awesome, i'd love to see more videos where they actually show all they're connections. Anyways, Do a/c adapter-connected- USB Hubs reduce latency? i mean, when I use a Hub to plug in my laucnhpad and have some USB ports free, it takes a considerable latency to load the different pages on the lauchpad. I'm looking forward to take one of the courses you guys offer. all these videos have helped me a lot! Thank you!

  • I HAVE THAT LAPTOP! DOES ANYONE ELSE?

  • gawd, i 'need money to go from my cdj setup to traktor linked with ableton and midi controllers \0

  • I have a Dell Studio XPS 1340 & I am having serious issues with spiking especially when using a usb hub. I have been researching and have found that I am not the only one with this problem. @DJendo, is there anything you had to do to get that XPS to run smoothly?

  • @CarmaCustoms The reason you are having spikes is because your Dell computer might not be optimized for DJing and real time audio processing. Stay tuned as I made a video on how to optimize your PC for DJing. Should be out very soon!

  • @DeeJayEndo I have followed every step from a multitude of websites to be sure my XPS is optimized for DJing. The 3 most outstanding issues I am having are the following...

    1) tcpip.sys - 0.6 up to 6.0!!! Highest Execution

    2) ACPI.sys - Giving me around 1.6 Highest Execution (if not higher)

    3) dxgkrnl.sys - 0.6 & up Highest Execution (I have an nVdia 9400G and it has the boost performance/save power functionality, BUT NO WAY TO DIRECTLY SET IT!!! Is it better to have it on Boost or Save?)

  • @DeeJayEndo Thanks for the new vids on setting up a PC for DJing. My xps1340 seems to run ableton & traktor better now after following all of your tips. I still think it's messed up that you have to detune a top of the line Dell laptop in order to do so, but it is what it is, I guess. =\

(The weird thing is, my rig was running it fine until recently, without doing ANY of the things you mentioned in your new vids...)

  • Crazy setup! I think the negative comments here, beside being typical YouTube, miss the point. This is an over-the-top controller-lust circle-jerk; that's why it is called the Mothership and not Grandmothership.

You can DJ with a mouse, the rest is just icing that makes is even more fun.

  • big long advert.

what little DJing there was sounded like generic house.

'oh look while I use traktors autosync feature then wack some effects over the top'

  • Is it a dualboot? So yes did you updated Windows with win updates and also updated the Dell drivers? Because on my dualboot i still have recording problems(see threat at the NI forum of your video's)

  • 4 midi controllers, all that gear and then only show a few seconds of djing.

you not need any of that stuff to be a good dj. over the top for set up most djs

  • i want one

  • Accidently opens all of his porn.

  • What are those USB cables with the lights?

They would be very handy in dark booths.... where might I find some?

  • @willrjmarshall I found them on ebay. They are GREAT for dark DJ booths and also for troubleshooting. If something comes unplugged, you'll know it instantly.

  • @willrjmarshall amazon.com search for LED usb cable by SF Cable... they have blue, green, and red... $2.95 + shipping.

  • @ZachariahDeMar In that video I was using the Stanton Uberstands

  • Man thats a lot of gear, and I give you props for putting it all together but that seems like major over-kill

  • @DjPc3 Agreed that it is a lot of equipment, and might not be what I would use in a live situation, and I would definitely not travel with that much gear. However one of the main points of this video was to show that you can use a combination of controllers with Traktor Pro 2 and also that you can hook up this many devices on a PC and have it work flawlessly.

  • @DeeJayEndo well mission accomplished... and I'm really impressed by how much went into that...

  • yeah not 100% sure why he is using a djm800 and a s4.

  • @aceman989 see my previous comment

  • thats not the future of dj'ing

  • AT LAST SOMEONE WHO USE PC AND NOT FUCKING EXPENSIVE MACS

  • @tabakos7 haha. Sounds like someone really wants a mac

  • @tabakos7

Only reason I want a MAC is because I hate having to load and update drivers and I have been told that the Mac is more plug and play. I have a PC and a few controllers and I feel that the MIDI signal is always getting knocked out and I have to keep going into my controller preferences in Ableton and loading it

  • @Fence4Life I'm by no means a Mac fanatic but I had all these problems in the past with Windows and now that I own a Mac I can't believe how I (or anyone for that matter) could be subjected to this pile of little annoyances. Mac is far from an ideal computer (Finder being by far the worst file manager in history) but you'll need one if you're into making music / DJing with little to no stress.

  • @eatshitgoogle : I'm confused. what's so bad about Finder?

  • @tabakos7 PC is for people who like to control their computer. Mac is for people who like their computer to control them.

  • @black97sho2000 Mac for people that aren't broke ass bitches and can afford the best, you probably wont get this msg because your pc is not responding. You should send an error report

  • @tabakos7 get a job!

  • @joladehiti Whrere in the president office in order to give 2000 euros for a mac just for style this pc in this video eats alive all the mac laptops...

  • @tabakos7 : Macbook pro is €1,1999 not 2000. and is easily capable of controlling multiple MIDI devices. MIDI is so old any smartphone can process multiple midi signals.

  • @joladehiti music business=the only consumerist market on the planet that has actual health benefits and is actually intended to be permanent

  • @tabakos7 I do think that Dell PC he's using is quite expensive ..

  • @MazeFors he said this costs about 1000-1200 euros in comparesion with macbook pro that maybe dont even have this prosecor or ram even the expensive ones

  • @tabakos7 NOOOO HE USES: STOP THE VIDEO AT 10:08!!!!!

  • @palimpalim121 hahah....it does suspiciously look like a macbook at 10:10......oh man that would be funny it that was what really powered this setup.

  • @Boutit5150 HAHA! Nice Eyes. Noooo The Mac is not powering the setup. Just recording audio from the DJ mixer. LOL

  • @DeeJayEndo haha..ya i looked at the screen and it does look like an audio recording....sorry man not trying to discredit your setup....got mad respect for the dubspot school.

  • @tabakos7 i know, this is the first time i seen a pc, but i heard traktor is really stable on macs, i dont see how.

  • The main issue I have with Dell is the Noise (Ground loop) from the power adapter - If the new Studio resolves this then great - but it will be the first Dell to do so - Every Dell I have tried has had this horrid noise.

  • @aloleary I have this noise, but not when I use my Audio 8 DJ...

  • @SnoozMusic Interesting - wonder if it has some kind of ground hum/loop isolator built in. I actually think the MBP are overpriced trophy machines - can get way more power/perf out of a wintel box - I only envy the MBP power source as it is very clean - no ground hum/noise at all.

  • @aloleary One reason you might get ground noise is because your computer might not be optimized correctly for DJing and real time audio processing. Stay tuned for my next video on how to optimize your PC for DJing and Audio Processing.

  • can someone say product placement?

  • @mattrozak - Totally! We always place products we actually like. :)

  • @DubSpot very understandable haha. just bought maschine bc of you guys haha. and i cant thank you enough.

  • @DubSpot

listing a laptops specs goes a bit further than that.

  • still happy with my MBP ( :

  • You need a lot of money to buy all that stuff and that just for mixing music.

I think using Ableton Live with some controllers is a lot more flexible .. but this is just my perspective .

  • Neat video but why waste the S4 with that Pioneer mixer? Do you really think the audio quality is better by using a dedicated audio controller vs the S4? Also, you need to send midi signals to light up your maschine buttons using modifiers. otherwise its not very user friendly to ensure you have activated the pads?

  • @sullrich3 The reason why I use the Pioneer with the S4 is because I noticed when using the S4 as a soundcard there is latency. Ex. when the mix sounds "on" in the headphones, its actually "off" in the house system. So what I do is use the S4 to adjust tracks that haven't been beatgridded perfectly, and since all the audio is routed through the pioneer, there is no latency. I know it sounds like a lot of effort just for a few milliseconds of latency but it really makes a difference when I play

  • @sullrich3 See my previous comment regarding why I use the S4 with the Pioneer. I much prefer using the Pioneer Mixer because I am not a fan of the "in the box" sound, and there is some latency when using the S4 unfortunately. I think this is something Native Instruments will be improving in the future. I actually use no modifiers in the mapping. They are all MIDI (LED) output commands in my Maschine mapping.

  • never heard an american use the term a grand (1000). thats a very english phrase

  • funny that he is using a DELL, cause there have been lots of issues in combination with DELL computers and the S4

  • @MuccoSolvan I have a dell though I think its more traktor coding for pc I mean I've played six hour sets on serato beta and its worked fine

  • @ClubdunnyTv yeah but I mean there are mostly issues with traktor and some dell PCs.. sony, Acer, HP etc. had less issues.

  • @MuccoSolvan The issue with most PC's is they come optimized for word processing and gaming and not audio processing. They need to be tuned correctly for DJing and real time audio processing. Stay tuned for my next video on how to optimize PC's for DJing
