Hey Everyone! If you would like to hear my performance of "Shenandoah" Just type in HawkinsTaylor51 to the inbox and then click on Shenandoah and thats me lol. Sorry for the viewing quality of the video haha, but I hope you like it!
These guys are obviously really really good. But I really don't like that they all soloed in unison. Their tiny inconsistencies are painfully obvious. (My .02$, don't flame me)
@bassbone1785 no worries. we now have some nice harmonies we use, but it's different every time. This is just one of many times we have sung this. Thanks for your opine.
Daniel Montenegro has an amazing voice. He's singing with SanFran Opera now as an Adler Fellow. Not only that, he's a top flight guy and a great friend!!! Always a pleasure to sing with you, Buddy...
this version of the song is great, but it's not really meant to be sung with that much force(or vibrato). if you like this song you should listen to Tennessee Earnie Ford's version. i think that's as close to a perfect rendition as can be.
I think it would have been better to hear Nathan sing this solo, he clearly has the better voice of the three. Much better than the shoutfest this turned out to be.
I have to agree with ronharrelljr...these three guys slaughtered an otherwise hauntingly, beautiful song. It was sterile....they sucked the soul out of it by not bending the notes.
what a pity --- first of all, they have no idea of the meaning behind the song -- and I stand behind my comment of several months ago -- they ruined a beautiful song

Back to the music: Lovely but shame they're all girlie tenors, do not the Americans know that there are other voice parts for real men!.. shoot two and add a Baritone and a bass!
I am not certain what the argument about German flags is but since the English nation was founded by two tribes, the Angles from Schlesweig-Holstein and the Saxons from Lower Saxony and Westphalia, both in Germany, the fact is all Anglo Saxons have their ancestry in Germany.
Ezekiel, maybe I'll do that. They seem to have kept their Nazis in check for the past 60 years. We need to find a way to keep ours in check in the US.

being an accomplished singer myself, i have to say that this has completely murdered my image on this timeless classic which, i myself have sung in many concerts around the globe and have managed not to make it sound like a seagull has just shat on my face. i congratulate these man on successfully inducing diarrhoea unto these innocent seagulls which have flown so far just to drop their load upon my complexion. they try to out sing each other plus there were about 10 random people doing jack.
im sure you are an accomplished singer with the name like "bigego" they dont sound great and have their faults but i doubt you could sing it better than a 5th grader could
good voices, but they could work a little more on their own ensembleship, I mean, they barely came in together, and then they weren't staying together. Maybe I'm mistaken when it comes to singers, but as an instrumentalist, it should all be one voice. I know they are all tenors, but maybe they could do some harmony?
People singing together can be divided into two distinct groups: soloists singing together as in opera and groups who exclusively sing together. Usually each are singing very distinct styles of music but there can be some cross-over as in this song.
These guys are soloists each retaining their distinctive resonance and vibrato. This produces a different sound to a choral group or quartet who sing with minimal or no vibrato and suppress resonance to create a more tightly blended sound.
The lyrics to "Danny Boy" were written by Frederick Weatherly, an Englishman. The melody, commonly known as "Londonderry Air", may have been Irish. However, that's a matter of some debate. As far as Irish songs go, remember "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" was written by an American. "The Wild Colonial Boy" is Australian.
believe texts going back many hundreds of years have settled the issue that Danny Boy is an Irish Melody. In fact, this melody has many different sets of lyrics, Danny Boy being currently the most widely known.
There was an excellent program produced by PBS a few years back that showed the deep influence of Irish melodies on American music, particularly mountain and country music. No surprise really since the Irish were present in the Americas almost from the very start.
If I were being inaugurated tomorrow and could request one song be played, it would be this. Shenandoah is America. I recommend you listen to Sissel in Symphony. Her version is haunting.
Man! This version puts you along the banks of a river in the beautiful Shenandoah valley, a warm summer sun shining with a faint, sweet breeze caressing you.... These guys are INCREDIBLE!!!!
It is actually a song that takes place in Missouri about a fur trader who falls in love with Chief Shenandoah's daugher. That's why the lyrics have the singer telling Shenandoah he loves his daughter and he plans to take her across the Missouri River to start a life with her.
OMG!! that was so beautiful! I wish the mens choir in my school could sing like that! I'm doing this song with my choir but our song was really different than that. BRAVO!!! Very beautiful!!!!
I love this rendition ... the background voices and all. I agree that the first tenor's voice is exquisitely beautiful! (But I would gladly marry anyone of them!!!)
The first tenor, Nathan Granner, has an immaculate approach.
It drove me nuts for about 30 seconds, then I realized who his voice is similar to: Philip Quast. Does anyone else hear it? Identical quick, stable vibrato, same clean, buoyant resonance, except he's a tenor.
I've always wanted to know what that sounded like... and it's as awesome as I thought.
Estos tenores son de los mejores colegas que he tenido...ambos son artistas de estatura y enormes cantantes me da un gusto enorme ver este testimonio del 2003. Mauricio
I can't even begin to tell you how inaccurate these past two statements are.
Do you realize how amazing the line of the first tenor is?
There are numerous differences in the words of this song. We will never know what the actual lyrics are to this piece, as it is not only a traditional song, but also anonymous.
Gotta agree, bmwski. Also, he has an accent that makes the word "away" sound odd. Finally, some of the words in the song are just plain wrong. Listen to the Paul Robeson version if you want to hear the real thing.
actualy thats the regular tempo what are you guys doing it at let me guess tempo about 90 to 100 the song tempo is 50 to 60 normaly some people pick the tempo up but usualy its at the speed i mentiond 50 to 60
