i dont know how yours breathes...but my 92 mkii 1.8l 8v has header back 2.25 no cat to a side exit cherrybomb turbo muffler(not the redtube one)...its silent @ idle but sounds extremely throaty under load...not to loud and no raspy sound just a little back pressure pop when you let off the throttle
Sounds good, but i ran mine like that for a while... it sounds a lot better if you leave the cat and the smaller resonator on and put in a straight pipe after that. It's quieter during an idle but when you get on it, you get a loud sound thats also really nice... the straight pipe from the head makes it sort of sound like theres a leaf stuck in it or something and it gets annoying after a while... so my advice: downpipe to cat, cat to small res, straight pipe out the back... it sounds sick!
So what your saying is if you don't run straight pipes....and you don't use a muffler it sounds louder. Ya. If you leave the small cat ( which is Effing HUGE!!!) and the resonator and take off the muffling device off... which is made to MUFFLE the sound... Why do i even bother.
Dude, why is your CEL on? Anyway, I had a problem with me exhaust, and I had to drive 400 miles with that sound. It was NOT fun, it does sound good though....
