  • This is my cause and my excuse...fuck yeah

  • I watch Drive Like Jehu live videos on a daily basis to stay alive

  • Just Plain Awesome.

  • god john reis is a fucking genius

  • Thanks for posting this video of Drive Like Jehu.

  • i wish someone would tab this mother out!

  • @sunchild90 Been thinking this every day for about two years.

  • rick froberg farted on my balls and it was the best day of my life

  • Raw. Real. Wonderful.

  • DRIVE LIKE JEHU = PURE AWSOMENESS

  • This music makes me feel good about guitar as an instrument. I feel like I've kind of run into a wall as far as writing on guitar goes, but this reminds me there's a lot I haven't really tried playing yet : )

  • The real fucking deal right here, Golden Brown gets me so pumped

  • DLJ....The best thing to happen to San Diego since th beach!

  • REAL POST HARDCORE!!!

  • it's retarded how good this band was

  • what's the effect use guitarist to do the feedback (look 1:40) ???

..remeber me the same effect used by Ian MacKaye

  • I could have sworn that I read an interview that it was a broken Maestro Brassmaster or some such thing that just happened to make that wailing chirping sound, not necessarily by design. Someone correct me if you have better information.

  • I belive it's holding a tube amp above the microphones. I haven't done it myself but that's what i've heard.

  • Ries faces the amp with his guitar to make it feedback. He then turns on an echo pedal (with his hand) and manipulates the speed of the feedback. You can see him move his hand from the guitar to the top of the amp. Try it and see!

  • Oh, thanks alot. That actually sounds really logical :)

  • wish i could hear the vocals more clearly. other than that, fucking fantastic!!!!

  • now that's real music

  • if a band has the names froberg or reis attached to it i already know i'll like it

    me lovee the hot snakes

and gitty is probably the best poster on youtube

  • They kick(ed, they arent together) ass!!!

    Awsome!

  • great john reis and rik froberg

  • The most underrated guitar duo in American history.

  • same goes for don caballero!

  • it's funny, around here in San Diego, north county especially, everyone knows who they are and loves them very much, probably more so when they were together too. on any given day you can walk into Lou's Records and chat with whoever's behind the counter about DLJ for hours, they sell shirts and everything. all these people talking about them not being known very well makes sense to me though, I am actually pleasantly surprised to see they have ANY fans outside of my area. they need a reunion!

  • I read the browsed through the latest copy of AP "most influential punk bands" and saw that DLJ and Heroin made the list. I was so freakin happy.

  • too bad fallbrookers have shit taste in music :( :( :(

  • 90's noise rock

if drive like jehu were on touch & go records that would be awesome

  • the sounds of feedback at 1:35....

  • Sick n' burl

  • I saw them. THEY KILLED!

  • Such an incredible band. I'm so sad I never caught them live. :(

  • "yank crime" is my fav rec of all times...

i did catch hot snakes live in paris,fr,but i never saw jehu live...this cant make up for it,of course, but its great to be able to see how it was a bit...many thanks !

  • Drive Like Jehu was the band to see if you really wanted to see John Reis's guitar playing ability. RFTC was a cool party type band, but Jehu was more sreious business!

  • Holy Fuck, Bullet Train To Vegas!!!!!!!!Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • I once took a greyhound bus from Seattle to Bellingham to see this band- that's how amazing they were.

  • most under rated band of all time.

  • Thats a pretty funny statement, considering Drives Like Jehu gets a lot praise.

  • Wish there was an edit button, Drives is a typo, should of course be Drive.

  • Not really. I know know one else in person that knows of them.

  • I wasn't really saying a lot of personal praise, but they get a lot of critical praise and are also acknowledged as being incredibly influential on post-hardcore music. Ever heard of At the Drive-In? They borrow a lot from Drive Like Jehu. I am also one of the only people I know who likes them, so I can see where you are coming from.

  • I'm pretty sure everybody has heard of At the Drive-In, guy.

  • That wasn't really the point of the statement, it was just to show how influential Drive Like Jehu is. They get/got a lot of critical praise. I think a better description would be under listened.

  • Whoa, TYPO!!!!

  • They seem to get more praise today then they did when they were actually together.

  • This is awesome. I saw Jehu live about three times when I lived in San Diego. Best live band ever.

  • You're welcome haha

  • very nice video!!!! I saw them back in 94, I will never get over this band, what a gift to my deaf ears...

  • another one??!

    even more blessings...

    holy crap!

  • beautiful!

  • WOW! simply amazing.

  • Damn, John is goin' nuts. Nice vid.

  • fuck, yes. more jehu, now!
