The reason this didn't get a commercial release in the US is because back in the day, Nintendo of America had very restrictive contracts of exclusivity with their licensees. In other words, if Capcom wanted to make Mega Man games on Nintendo systems, then it would be an exclusive Nintendo series. Street Fighter was different because it started in arcades, so it was OK for Capcom to make versions for both Nintendo & Sega. Rockman for MegaDrive is awesome. Emulation doesn't do it justice.
Yeah this is the PAL version. PAL NES and Mega Drive suck. Most of the games are slowed down versions. The music and the gameplay is slow. Also they have these black bars at the top and bottoms of the screen. I tried the PAL version of Mega Man 2. I just couldn't stand it D:
Man, with all the respect to the Sega fans, but this has to be the worst and slowest Mega Man game ever. I felt my ass more slow than playing Fight for Life on the Jaguar. This is a slaughter of a classic. Thanks this disgrace was never released in the U.S.
And plus, what happened to the blast processing the Gen had? This game should be twice faster than the others Megaman games.
that's because it was using crappy Euro 50FPS Pal system, not 60FPS like it was using on USA NTSC, but you can set in emulator to play this on 60FPS after you launch the rom on 50FPS (can't launch first on 60 cause this game has region protection :P)
no problem you didn't know that ^_^ so i response to tell the truth about that :D, most old european games we're sucky due to 50FPS system used in pal for example Sonic, imagine how shitty it was for europeans to have fastest hedgehog rather slow than fast xD
@VDDshunt HEY YOU BITCH, why you complaining, how many people does it take to remind you that this is THE FREAKIN PAL VERSION of this game, most pal games back then where 15% slower than the us's and jap's,
check those version rather than the worst version of a game next time. They have the true speed
I wish they would release THIS on virtual console since likely MOST people missed out on its original release (seriously, who the hell ever had sega channel? no one I knew...)
the reason Y' ROCK MAN: MEGA WORLD what its call-japanese-version) well capcom in the US, was going to released mega man wily war's here in the US it was going have a releases here but it got cancel because capcom give it to SEGA ' for their sega channel , witch doesn't excit NE more but yeah they did give-it to them to have it in chan-tv get people interest with it TO THIS DAY IM,STILL MAD AT CAPCOM FOR NOT RELEASES THIS GAME IN STORE'S )
(BIG MEGA MAN FAN) its the U.K. version is it-net i.e. bin looking for this version but its hard to find i do got this game but it's the japanese version tho, I LOVE IT IT ROCKS
Wow. I think this game enjoyable. But it doesn't outmatch Super Mario All-stars. The only problem is that it's 1 or 2 games short. The music sounds grating. The music doesn't beat rapidly as the NES version.
Actually, the game was available for play in the US during the mid-'90s through the Sega Channel, a cable service that would let you play Sega Genesis games through a special cartridge.
2:30 hey, in nes the 2nd box desapears before the 4th one appears, they made it easier here!
-wait, If I realised that, it means that something is really wrong with me- -_-'

LAG! this must be the pal version! people remember, pal games run at 50hzs while NTSC & JAPS run at 60Hzs

Another shitty PAL conversion reminding me why I rarely bother with the crappy Virtual Console. Nintendo needs to get its head out of its arse.

@Mysterious0Bob This game has never been released on Virtual Console as of right now.

I'm not in love with these remixes. Also, hearing the Mega Man 3 title tune paired with the Mega Man 1 splash screen was somewhat odd.
ColonelFatso 4 years ago
It was released in English in other countries, I believe, just not in the U.S. - hence why the ROM has Mega Man logos and doesn't say Rockman.

Yep! I think the thing plays normally on a console version, too. Just...at 50 FPS display rate.
