  • I think Hank Garland is one of the backup musicians if you listen you will hear the distinctive jazzy playing which was very sophisticated for country western music.

  • My posts are going to be out of order, but I also wanted to say that if Patsy had sung that song to me with her hand on my shoulder, I probably would have been reduced to an incoherent blob of something or other! I'd also like to add that in the days of live television, ANYTHING that could go wrong usually did, but I'm confidant that Patsy was already such a professional that she would have taken it in stride.

  • The quality of this production is surprising for 1955, when television was just out of its infancy. The only way to record a performance was to use a kinescope, which is essentially a 16mm film camera aimed at a television monitor. The camera angle changes at least twice, meaning there was a highly professional crew on the job. Also, the absence of visible microphones and the fact that she was able to move around means that they were probably using a "boom" (overhead moveable) microphone.

  • I have never heard her do this before....only heard of the song and seen it on several compliation albums....now I see where artists like Reba McEntire found the inspiration!! I love this and thanks for posting!!

  • the best voice of ALL, any kinda music, she's the greatest!

  • I love the part when she grabs his shoulder.

  • @WishesSailorMoon As I said in a previous post, I'd have been reduced to an incoherent blob of something if it was my shoulder. But I also wouldn't say that she "grabbed" his shoulder... it was more like she just rested her hand firmly on it. ;-)

  • @RogerInPDX hehe

  • Hey when I first heard this song it was on the Jukebox of My Parents' s Honkey Tonk.Can we say , stolen Budweiser?

  • She was one of the greatest, and born and raised not too far from me here in Virginia - in Winchester. Loved her. Thanks for sharing. GWen

  • Yes, and in Ellis Nasour's book about Patsy, he discovered that when Patsy recorded this song, she was in the process of divorcing Gerald Cline due to his many indiscretions. According to those who were in the studio with Patsy, the hair on their necks stood up because of the intensity of her emotions, and it was only later that they found out she was living through the song at the time she recorded it.

  • wow linda cancion :)

  • Thanks for putting up this video. I had never heard this song before..excellent.

    As you may have noticed from the lyrics of it, it was back in days when morals were much higher than they are today.

  • If people spent more time in the colonies with their own we'd discover there are talents untapped.

  • Never before her and never again will there be a voice as pure and clear as Patsy Cline's. Whether you're a country music fan or not, you cannot deny that Patsy was blessed by God with an AMAZING talent.

  • Wonderful 5* post. Patsy was just great. I have not had the pleasure of viewing this before,and I thank you sincerely for allowing me to do so now by sharing this wonderful post.

  • i just visited her grave last week in winchester,va she makes me proud to be from Virginia

  • @2:18 If she hated it so much she shouldn't have married a midget.

  • Patsy Cline is an artist we never forgets. She has such a clear voice.

    Thanks.

  • I don't think she would have too much of a problem holding her own with the singers of today, 5*****

  • omg jimmy dickens voice goes through me like shards of glass.

  • taylor swith this is who you need to try to be like !!!

  • Taylor swift is pop...

  • @afuninthesunday Yeah.... We all know Taylor Swift was pop, and so was Patsy after a little while, she crossed over as well. :) But she was was a MUCH better vocalist then Swift ever will be, Swift is a much better song writer than she is a singer.

  • anoyin ass dickens funny name but boy needs a deeper voice

  • its a pity hankwilliams and patsy clyne

    Memories...Memories

    Mike...! ♪≈♫≈♥≈♪≈♫≈"

  • thank you hon... gotta love OUR Patsy... they just DON'T make voices like Hers everyday, she was truly "one of a kind" and a feisty gal, loved that about her... shame she is not with us but her music will ALWAYS live on...

    ~~~~ Becky
  • She is not only the greatest singer ever....there is no-one ALIVE or DEAD even close to her talent. I have loved her for years, since i was 5 years old, and thats 49 years ! Brad Savage ---Lifelong fan and collector.
  • she was GREAT, my parents collected all different types of music, (hence my "varied", "eclectic" tastes...), and my Mom loved Patsy, as do I...
    it is a sad shame Patsy left the world so soon, I often wonder just how much more Great stuff she would have put out... others as well... she had a voice like No other, FOR SURE... my favs by her are "Crazy" OF COURSE lol and "Leavin' On Your Mind" but I love all her stuff lol...
    RIP Patsy, we miss you...
  • hello meehall, and yes the gal from Winchester, VA...
  • Notice the preceding act to this one. Mr Dickens thanks Slim Whitman for that fine number. Two classic singers together.
  • This clip is a treasure. Love it ♥ ♪♫
  • Just magic. Who the hell could handle such a song. IMHO the power of the song is generated by the singer. Cline brings an emotional understanding behind her songs. Goddamn gilr you dies to soon. I was never into country,I'm r&b and look her man, I'm buying everything I can on this country sista!! RIP in Peace Mrs. Cline! Damn!!!!!!
  • Brilliant
    5* 5*
    Thanks
  • Brilliant! I can imagine Hank Williams Sr singing this too.
  • Why the downvote?
  • I have never heard this song before, I have a ton of Patsy Cline. Guess, I will have to find it, I love it....Real talent and no one no one can touch her.
  • Just wonderful that all these fantastic Patsy Cline videos are on youtube! Thanks, you guys! I have to admit as a teenager in the 50s I was unaware of her, but now I really love her strong, clear voice in every song. And that controlled emotion is unmatched! Wish she lived longer!
  • such a deep song almost (folk style music) patsy was so talented she made music that is so relaxing i luv it
  • She has (had) the strongest female voice in country music history! No-one can ever top that. PERIOD!
  • she's too good.
  • The late Patsy Cline is my favorite singer, she has a voice that can't be beat!
  • quelle chanson magnifique! j'aime beaucoup . une magnifique voix!
  • My favorite singer of all time.....man or woman. Simply the best. Thanks for posting this
  • I think they should revive this songs right now....people get divorce because of money.....
  • soooo good
  • What can I say? I will certainly not see a voice so beautiful like this. Patsy, only Patsy
  • She is the best ever and will always remain the top female singer of all time. The clear sound of her words came without any strain at all. She surely was a great gift from God.
  • Seems like kind of a sign of the times at the moment where Little Jimmy Dickens asks Patsy how she's doing and really doesn't care about her response, cutting her off.
    No matter - Patsy showed EVERYONE what it means to be a REAL star! Best voice in the entire spectrum of Country-Western music, PERIOD!!
  • Brilliant!!!!
  • One of the best female singers we've ever had the good luck to have. RIP
    "We, the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution." Abraham Lincoln
    "
  • half a man
  • One of the best voices that has ever graced this planet. For music you have to go back the way...I would much rather listen to singers of the 50's & 60's than any of the rubbish thats about today...how the fuck is gonna be listenin to anything thats out now 50 years from now???? NO ONE...we will all still be watchin greats like this.
