People use 10, and fingers are much more flexible to use than tentacles, its harder to move those big fucks. Its hard to explain, but pianos aren't made for tentacles, since we only need 1 finger per key on the piano at times. But maybe like playing drums, 1 tentacle can hold a drumstick, thus 8 tentacles, 8 drums stick.
