That's great that you enjoy the music of Joni Mitchell at 13 years old! Have you every listened to the music of the late folk singer, Sandy Denny? There's a lot of music of Sandy Denny on Youtube. Sadly she died many years ago now as a result of a fall down a flight of stairs in England. She also was with the famous folk group called, Fairport Convention as well as her own solo work. Glad to hear that someone as young as yourself is also playing lap dulcimer!.

I and a friend at Birmingham Uni. in the early 70s were addicted to Joni Mitchell – every day we had an infusion of the album “Blue”. If you haven’t found it yet, you’re in for a wonderful experience.
I thank my Mom for introducing me to Joni, she is simply an amazing musician, talent beyond words. And can you imagine? No auto-tune, no backup singers, no band even... just her voice and a dulcimer, awesome.
Watching this makes me feel young again, my whole life ahead of me. Joni Mitchell is one of the true talents that sparked a generation. Good or bad, right or wrong, we tried to make a difference.
This is a mountain dulcimer. Which I know for a fact because I play mountain dulcimer. Not to be confused with a dobro (guitar shaped, used in country music) or a hammered dulcimer(stringed, harp like, played with small hammer type objects.)
Check her performance in the The Last Waltz. The way she moves while she sings is absolutely amazing. The music was in every cell of her body, which made her such a gifted performer.

What an awesome perfomance. Her skill on the dulcimer, self-taught as with guitar and piano, is amazing. She is a true artist and an inspiration for generations of musicians. Anytime you have artists as disparite as Madonna, Prince, Annie Lennox and Bjork citing someone as an inspiration, you know you have the real deal.
Does anyone else think she sounds about 20 or so years ahead of her time ? Just in terms of how she is singing this ?

This song, this artist, this performance, is an absolute classic of American civilization, and deserves to be preserved on a deep-space probe and sent to the stars, as an example of the nature of Humanity
I especially love when she finishes, and the applause begins, and then the audience stops weeping softly and really applauds, and the volume goes way up, and Joni is startled and then smiles in gratitude

Send it on a deep space probe to the stars, to be discovered by an advanced civilization eons in the future, as an example of the artistic heights reached by one member of the human species, at one (brief) moment in its evolution.

Thanks - yes, Joni is certainly a real artistic height - though just to provide balance in our space-probe self-portrayal to the stars, we should select a male artist with an optimistic outlook - wonder who that might be? How about Shah Rukh Khan doing a big joyous Bollywood dance number? :)

Joni, "I hate men" Mitchell. I don't get it. She'd a flak that never wrote a good song. Nice voice and face when she was young. Most here are delerious women who are trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear..

a great book by Barney Hoskins called "Hotel California" really tells a candid story of the great music from '65 to the huge success of the Eagles - Joni plays a big role as a pioneer of the age - very respected among her peers....

I and a friend at Birmingham Uni. in the early 70s were addicted to Joni Mitchell – every day we had an infusion of the album “Blue”. If you haven’t found it yet, you’re in for a wonderful experience.

I thank my Mom for introducing me to Joni, she is simply an amazing musician, talent beyond words. And can you imagine? No auto-tune, no backup singers, no band even... just her voice and a dulcimer, awesome.

This is a mountain dulcimer. Which I know for a fact because I play mountain dulcimer. Not to be confused with a dobro (guitar shaped, used in country music) or a hammered dulcimer(stringed, harp like, played with small hammer type objects.)

Check her performance in the The Last Waltz. The way she moves while she sings is absolutely amazing. The music was in every cell of her body, which made her such a gifted performer.

Such a beautiful voice! Robert Plant & Jimmy Page (Of Led Zeppelin) were big fans of Joni and her music. Robert Plant described the day they met her as one of the best days of his life. So funny considering the circumstances!-SRL

What an awesome perfomance. Her skill on the dulcimer, self-taught as with guitar and piano, is amazing. She is a true artist and an inspiration for generations of musicians. Anytime you have artists as disparite as Madonna, Prince, Annie Lennox and Bjork citing someone as an inspiration, you know you have the real deal.
