  • Its really simple ... push the death penalty, and train murderers to murder murderers -- now you may argue this has a deterrent effect .. in fact, in some cases, it urges people to act as an inducement instead .. since the caprice inherent results in inducements along the "kill 'em all" lines. Not even to mention the other 85 % of superstitions people operate off of under the guise of logically sublimed rationalization of positions that result in an awfully amazing capacity to overlook truth

  • The death penalty is a punishment just like prison is a punishment. It is quite obvious to me that prison is not a strong enough punishment because it doesn't deter the crimes it meant to prevent. Punishment by definition needs to be strong enough that the criminal thinks is the crime worth the risk of the punishment answers no and does not commit the crime. Capital punishment should only be used in the cases of multiple offenders where it is clear that prison is not enough of a deterrent.

  • ONCE THE DEATH PENALTY IS ABOLISH, I AM GOING HUNTING FOR HUMAN MEAT! I DONT EAT MEAT BUT MY CATS DO. LOL

  • fuck the death penelty

  • Death penalty cannot be put so bluntly, it is based on a situation alone.

  • who the fuck came up with the electric chair ? the rope is cheap and reusable and bullets are cheap and quick. The chair uses alot of power which is to good for the scum strapped to it.

  • Thank you for this video (: I have to make a movie maker on capital punishment and this video gave me an idea on where to start (:

  • capital punishment is sick and wrong enough said

  • technaiclly the death peanlty fits life for life so its not hypcrtical , tell that to the murder who leaves someone without a loved one

  • The way I look at it is that it's only fair. Fair to the victim's families and fair to society. There has to be some accoutability in life when someone commits the "Ultimate Sin."

Also I dare anyone who is an activist against capital punishment to spout their shit to the vicitm's families and see how they'll react!

All in All, Kill em' all and let God sort em' out!

  • Capital punishment is right! I wish the u.k bring it back!

Killers dont derserve to be alive! DNA is much improved!

Why pay for scum to be alive! Why give them the 2nd chance to rekindle there lives? Families want justice. A slap on wrist is not good enough.

They arent destorying one innocent life, they are destorying innocent families.

To the people who dont agree with capital punishment. What if it was 1 of your family? Would let your killer live? or should a terrorist live?

  • the quickest, cheapest and most simple way for an execution is a bullet to the head. why can't we just go with that? more humane than being poisoned or electrocuted...

  • Exodus :21 23-25 23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

  • Death penalty costs however much a bullet costs

I hate that my taxdollar are keeping the scum alive

  • "The death penalty costs a lot of money that we could be using to pay for more important needs in our country"!!??!!

It cost more to keep those shitbags alive.

  • No executed criminal ever committed another crime. Support the death penalty.

  • Capitol punishment, the death penalty=murder, we all have a right to life, pray the death penalty is abolished: "thou shalt not kill" god bless us all.

  • Life in prison is an alternative to the death penalty.

  • @jasonrtaylor until the death penalty is abolished, that is, right ?

  • i never supported the death penalty i never will because death is irreversible it is costly for the tax payer is no deterrent to crime most states with the death penalty have high crimes rates the death penalty is not justice it is revenge life is too short for the goverment or state to take it away i have more to say but i will sign off here.

  • @friendlygirl333

"i never supported the death penalty i never will because death is irreversible "

    That's the idea

    "is no deterrent to crime"

Crime was always exist, but an executed inmate is permanently deterred

"most states with the death penalty have high crimes rates the death penalty "

Crime rates fluctuate all the time, and whether or not the state has the DP is irrelevant

  • Definantly agree with this video.

  • an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind

  • Ghandi

  • SaturnEthics, i look forward to ur reply. U left out how much MORE u Americans spend on keeping crominals alive. From an Economist's view, it'd be so much less costly to just pop a cap or decapitate (both r cost efficient) any one who deserves it. But think abuot it like this, i bet u or ur parents work hard for their money, so do mine, but they all pay taxes. As a canadian, my parents hard eart $ goes to keeping criminals alive, when it can go some where more productive, thats unacceptable

  • Hell if you cant find someone to pull the trigger on the gang bangers, murderers, robbers and so fourth. Ill do it and I wont charge you a dime. Kill them, kill them all.

  • I really do understand why people disagree with capital punishment, but at the end of the day we all need to except that we get no where in life if we just keep dwelling on the past. Yes, we have made mistakes in the past and taken lives of innocent people, You cant except to see no blood when you get shot or have a war and not get any casualties. The level of sophisticated technological we have today is far more advanced than ever before, we can prove that the innocent are innocent.

  • I'm fighting to bring the death penalty back to the UK. Why the fuck should scum get to live after murdering others....

Hang them like we did in the 19thC. I'll do the deed if necessary.

  • What about the Nazi's hanged by Albert Pierrepoint?

  • No system is flawless. There are cases which clearly merit capital punishment as a deterrent and public safety policy.

  • Im for it. Its another form of justice enforced by the law.

    Its just my views.

I think with most prisons having t.vs, books etc.......

That arresting someone for murder is wrong.

  • ban it

  • you oppose the death penalty on a moral basis ?

  • In all honesty, I do oppose the Death Penalty, but I'm really close to the fence on this one. My main thing is that I don't see it solving any problems, which makes it pointless and a waste of time and money. What we should really be doing is working on prison reform instead. Although, since I've taken philosophy, it also doesn't make sense on an ethical level either.

  • These corrupt cops and FBI criminals frame everybody they control ever lawyer in the state so they are not defending anybody just taking directions from corrupt cops.

They can screw with evidence, witnesses and lawyers check out my channel corrupt cops can do anything they want, I have 16 broken federal laws and no lawyer in 2 years

  • It's human nature to be stupid...

  • in that case

it's cheaper than prison and it's a stronger deterrent

  • morgan freemon as god? is this some sort of inside joke? a ref. to bruce almighty perhaps? did I forget to laugh?

  • It actually is just that, although not a joke. When my brother was atheist, he said that Morgan Freeman was the closest thing to god he believed in because he played God in a movie. I listed several gods for several religions, so I also listed one for people who don't believe.

  • Hi SaturnsEthics! I was wondering where you got those pictures. They are really awesome! Please.... I really need to know where you got them

  • I just searched on photobucket

  • Thank you very very very much. I'm doing a short video clip for my project work. It really helps!! =) =)

  • You think prisons easy hahahahahahahha

youre arguement was sensible until you said 'prison is to easy on prisoners' take it youve never been in one.

  • The main reason I said that was because one of the biggest arguments for DP, besides the whole 'serious offenders never able to commit crimes again' argument, is that criminals get off easy because jail is so plush.

Presenting one of the other sides arguments and then tearing it down is a technique used in argumentative speeches.

  • Yeah i know its called using a 'strawman' and its pretty pathetic.

  • It's how you win an argument.

  • Still its a low tactic down there with quote mining.

  • It's a very common technique, it provides a counter arugement for your oppenets arguments, and it is a way to further challenge the beliefs of those you are speaking to in order to make them question their position and re-evaluate their stance. It's my belief that someone should believe strong enough in their opinions that they can counter-argue a counter-argument.

Besides, it was required for the class.

  • an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind

  • couldn't have put it better myself.

  • "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind "

Another abused quote that the humanists love to use.

  • its a ghandi quote, and i dont see how its being abused. he was talking about the death penalty.

    I think i smell a troll

  • I'm sorry to say but Ghandi never endured Nazi Germany.

  • No just colonialism under the British Raj. Im sure it was a fucking summer camp.

  • Absurdum ad Hitlerum!

  • you had me up until about the three min point. Anyone who thinks that prison is an "easy ride", no matter what the programs available, has never been to prison even for a day. You're decent in maddness comment is advocating torture. Try to imagin spending the rest or your life away from your family, friends and all those little things you don't have to think about now (like eating when you're hungry instead of when you're told). Even with HBO it would still suck.

  • It would make people less likely to commit crimes that would send them to prison.

  • If i were to kill every criminal today, every single one of them. Would i be called a murderer, or a liberator/ cleanser of the world:)? I understand that imprisoning a criminal is a severe punishment for criminals, its just that it costs too much to keep those who care not for innocents, alive. If i had the power i would kill every criminal alive today. If ur US, then ur country would probably be out of debt as they wouldn't have to pay $ to keep criminals alive.

  • Sorry, about cost: Physical cost pr inmate is about 20-30k, but including administrative cost, maintenance, staff, etc; the cost is a staggering 50 000 USD per inmate per year!

  • yeah... where are you (SaturnsEthics) getting your figures from? Cost analysis statistics are never that simple as in the way you put it. Each statistic needs to have about a paragraph explaining the context.

It shouldn't cost more than $30,000 to perform a death penalty. And that includes paying for the burial. That's less than one year of prison. It is the appeals process that is too damn long and expensive.

  • Is it more humane to sit in prison for 60 years then getting a death sentence? You have nothing to lose, you'll murder/rape/do whatever to stay alive and pass time. That victimizes other inmates that have maybe done lesser crimes, and in turn convert them into animals too.

If it is proven beyond doubt that you are guilty (rape/murder) death is, if anything, better for society.

Btw, inmate/year = 20-30k USD, employees 60k+. How does 20+ years get cheaper than capital punishment?

  • Inmates that take high school seldom come back to priston, the ones that take college almost never come back. That's most definitely in society's interest.

Also, maintaning inmates active (gym/tv/other) reduces amount of crimes committed in prison.

You want to take away all those things, a guy who enters an animal comes out a monster. A guy who enters "normal" comes out an animal.

You can treat inmates human while still punishing them. They are not free.

  • This is a really good argument, and I actually can't think of a good counter for it, at the moment. Thank you for giving me something to think about.

  • Oh dear. I think I'll just point out a few things.

    1) There are specialists that put out fire with fire... its called back fire. If a fire is out of control, people will set up a controlled fire around it, therefore letting the wild fire burn out.

    now the real stuff.

    2) You quote the Bible, then you say we should go after God for killing? Please give feedback on why? (Especially buddist religion).

    3) The Bible ALSO had Capital Punishment. Don't quote the bible this way if you leave that out.

  • Did I quote the bible??? I'm sorry, I'm not Christian, so I don't really know.

The God thing was really just a way to say that if you believe in God, He really is the one who ends all lives, since His hand is the hand that does all (if that makes sense).

In all honesty, this was just a school project, so I didn't go too much into the background of my arguments... I just went enough to where I could convince my classmates of my POV.

  • fuck this asshole who is against death penalty!!bitch i hope your brother dad mom husband child gets killed by cutting their heads off and feeding their bodies to pigs and come tell us what it feels like

  • i hope you are wrongly sentenced to the death penalty

  • If you have an intelligent argument for the DP, then I would love to hear it and debate it with you, but if you don't have anything more to say then some ignorant little rant that has no arguable points, then please don't post.

  • BTW, there are many other crimes you can be executed for: aggravated kidnapping, rape, terrorism, planting a bomb, treason, derailing a train, drug crimes, ect. If you say someone is "innocent," then they have been COMPLETELY cleared of participating and attempting these crimes! So if inmate X has a history of rape and kidnapping, but not murder, they are STILL eligible for execution. Thus, the definition of "innocence" is largely skewed.

  • Yes, but they all involve the deaths of others in some way.

  • That is a really good argument, and as of right now, I'm stumped... I don't have a counter.

  • Okay, I agree with certain aspects of this clip. If the government could assure us that true punishment would be implemented in the prisons and that criminals found guilty of certain crimes (rape, child molestation etc) would remain in solitary confinement then I will retracted my feelings on the death penalty. However, at present I agree with the death penalty only if someone is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt then one live must then be sacrificed as punishment.

  • I have seen the crime seen photos of both the Manson case and the Jefferey Damher case neither of whom where eligible for exsiccation. The death penalty is not for the purposes to be made an example of it was they would be at the public's access the death penalty is there for equal justice to the convicted telling them that they no longer have any benefit to society and should be stripped of their human rights because I for one do not believe that flesh and blood defines one as a human being.

  • @Arbow1986 Learn to fucking spell.

  • no one deserves to die. if we took an eye for an eye the whole world would be blind and yes what they did was wrong but plop them in jail and they can rot in there. WITHOUT LUXURIES. killing is wrong no matter who does it, a person or our government.

  • Do u know that recent studies have shown that 5 innocents will be killed by failing to execute a convicted murderer? while u're struggling to save the lives of a small handful of murderers, 1st consider the lives of many more innocents who could have been saved by capital punishment. you never know. 1 of your closest kin/friend might 1 day be a victim of a murderer who either escaped from prison or was on parole. u don't want to risk the lives of innocents by showing mercy to the merciless.

  • I really like your argument, and I think that's something you really have to consider, but then you also have to look at the fact that they haven't committed those potential murders yet.

If we had some way of predicting the future, and we saw that someone was going to murder someone else, would it be morally permissible to put them in jail before they commit the crime? Would it be morally permissible to do nothing and let the murder happen? If we interfere, how can the future we saw be true?

  • "If we had some way of predicting the future, and we saw that someone was going to murder someone else, would it be morally permissible to put them in jail before they commit the crime?"

No, because they can commit the crime in jail as well.

"Would it be morally permissible to do nothing and let the murder happen?"

No, that is why they must be executed because prison is not a substitute.

  • Sorry, but everyone dies! it's a matter of how you get there.

  • Should the state be the entity responsible for taking a life?

  • SaturnEthics, you have it all wrong. Some crimes are so heinous that death is the only appropriate method that guarantees no repetition. How about spreading some of that overflowing empathy for the victims. As far as economics, well you cannot divide everything by the dollar. Saving the world from Nazism, fascism, communism and putting a man on the moon, feeding millions of hungry people were not exactly "money makers". However, you're thinking about important issues and thats good.

  • Reductio ad Hitlerum

  • thanks! I have to do a history on Capital punishment for my assignment and this was very informative!

  • i agree with you, i don't want people to die.but in the uk murderers tend to do "life" and in britain that usually just means 9 or 10 years!!! so if you are jailed aged 19 you will be back on the streets still an angry young man! and in uk jails they have tv's in every cell, they can't be made to do any kind of labour,THAT?S AGAINST THEY?RE HUMAN RIGHTS!!!!!!.so what about the victims families? the system then fails them in doling out PROPER justice.

  • That's why I say we first need prison reform.

  • Yes, introduce a gallows at every one.

  • exacution dose not stop murder people have no though about punishments when they comite murder most people murder for many reasons and they dont care about what happens next.

  • Executions do stop murders because dead murderers can no longer kill.

  • Executions don't deter future murders from committing murder. You may have stopped that one person, buy you haven't fixed the problem.

  • Capital criminals will always exists, thus you are missing the purpose of Capital Punishment entirely.

  • They are trying to use it as a way to deter crime, how am I missing that point???

  • That is false. They are using it to PUNISH the criminal. It is CAPITAL PUNISHMENT; not capital deterrence.

  • exactly. it is a punishment, and punishment deters crime. there is a reason why you have to go to jail for kidnapping. it serves punish u hopin that u or pple ard u wld not do it again. since everyone is afraid of dying, pple will tend to think twice b4 committing a murder if death is a real possibility for their crime. A female was shot in her house and the murderer admitted to killing her simply because he knows he won't go to the chair for it.

  • It depends on what level of "DETERRENCE" you are referring to. For PREMEDITATED deterrence, it doesn't matter, since capital crime will always exist and there will always be criminals to be punished for it, no matter how often it happens or where it occurs.

As for PERSONAL deterrence, Capital Punishment NEVER fails, because a dead killer is no longer a threat to society. Sound logical?

  • nope you're wrong. it's a fact that executions deter murder. various countries have resumed practicing death penalty after suspending it for long periods? why do u think this is so? i know you won't be convinced by this. just look at all the datas collected in united states from 1930 to 2000. murder rates skyrocketed to 200 per 66000 people when death penalty was temporary suspended in 1970s, which is close to a 100% increase !

  • But other countries that don't have the Death Penalty still have WAY lower crime rates, at least at the time that I did my reseach.

  • "But other countries that don't have the Death Penalty still have WAY lower crime rates, at least at the time that I did my reseach."

Crime rates will always exists, as will the punishment for it

  • @SaturnsEthics

You need to remember that there are MANY other factors that contribute to crimes rates; population density, urban ares, hates crimes caused by racial, religious, and cultural tensions, gang bangers, weather, ect. The death penalty is irrelevant in this comparison. Executions are intended to remove a criminal from society; not lower crime rates.

  • @MottullMaelstrom

And the ones that were executed because of a false sentence never recovered as well.

  • As far as rehabilitation, capital punishment has a one hundred percent success rate. No murderer has ever killed again after being executed. How effective is that?

  • "america is the last of the of the civilized countries to still carry out this method of retribution"

who the fuck are you to say what is and what isnt civilized

saudi arabia, china, japan still permit the death penalty

    who are they? barbarians?

without them your country wouldnt be able function

out of all countries, you call your right winged, capitalist, money motivated, materialistic, resource devouring culture civilized?

    wow..

  • First, you need to tone it down. You are coming off as someone who refuses to look into the other side of an argument.

The research that I had found had said that all those countries had ambolished the death penalty. I certainly didn't mean that they were not civilized.

Also, take into account that this speach was given to americans. If you've ever taken a speech class, you learn how to play towards your audiance to get them on your side.

Before you freak out, please make sure you should.

  • All those countries have abolished death penalty? what a joke. LOL. sry i had to laugh. i don't know about saudi arabia (i think they still do have capital punishment), but FOR SURE, China and Japan are still enforcing death penalty. Singapore, the second most developed asian country after Japan, still carry out capital punishment. some abolitionists has argument points like "hitler supported death penalty", so if hitler ate bread, is it wrong for us to do so too?

  • You do know that "Live by the sword die by the sword" is a Bible verse (Matt.26:56) said by Jesus, to stop the disciples from responding to violence with violence? I think that is commonly missed. and Ghandi said that "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind." Responding to violence with violence has not been proven to work.

  • We hear your humanist bleeding heart beating.

  • Our prison system is overcrowded because prison has become an easy ride, and people will commit crimes just so that they can have a free place to stay, free meals, and free access to many things they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford. If you had to work like hell in prison, our system would clear up quick.

  • No it wouldn't. THey would adapt to it and use it to toughen themselves up so they can run the place. The scum run the prisons these days.

  • nobody talks about forgiveness. the funny thing is, that not the opponents of death penalty are irrational and sentimental but the supporters ,like you, are. it's not the state's job to help _you_ taking revenge. i don't think hundreds of people in the penal system should work for the goal of killing an defenceless prisoner just for YOU to feel good. they have better things to do!

even if you're boiling with hate and anger - you won't 10 years later, when the death penalty is finally executed.

  • Are u saying that if ur parents are killed by a murderer,u'd forgive him/her in 10 yrs?Wow!U're so GODLY! ok,anyways this is not my point.Death penalty is not about revenge. it's abt preventing more innocents being brutally murdered in the future.& did u say "DEFENCELESS prisoner"?!?!Absurd. He made a decision to kill and now he's facing the consequences of it.Why are u making a murderer sound innocent, kind, and worth of sympathy? I don't know, but u seem to think that the victims deserve to die.

  • OK, what do we do about people serving life who commit murder in or from prison? Give them another life sentence? What would you do with the likes of Clarence Allen, Thomas Silverstein, Raymond Cheely, Tyler Bingham, Byron Mills, David Dunster, John Hovey, Stephen Hugueley, Clayton Fountain and Richard Terflinger?

  • OK, what do we do about people serving life who commit murder in or from prison? Give them another life sentence? What would you do with the likes of Clarence Allen, Thomas Silverstein, Raymond Cheely, Tyler Bingham, Byron Mills, David Dunster, John Hovey, Stephen Hugueley, Clayton Fountain and Richard Terflinger?

  • I'm for the death penalty...it saves lives

  • Morgan Freeman?

  • Yes, I didn't understand that one either.

  • It's a list of the different gods, and so for those who are atheist I listed Morgan Freeman because he plays God in the Almighty movies.

My little brother is atheist, so we always joke that his only god is Morgan Freeman.

  • Oh yeah.I forgot about the Almighty movies.Speaking of which,is Evan Almighty good?

  • Yeah, it's about as funny as the first one.

  • I'll check it out

  • Weak liberal talking points.

  • I wish it was that easy. $30 for rope is cheap too.

  • WOW, Great video !

  • for a cruel case research derik bently .. capital punishment is cruel and evil all together

  • Guys whats wrong with you.. if a killer wlaks into my home i have to LEGAL right to kill him.. but ifhe kills me they dont wana kill him?? just let him live in jail where you can.. work out.. eat free food... make "jail buddies" and have a 30% fun time...I say we make the death penelty 100% ok! stdies show when they took away leathal injection almost 10,000 INNOCENT people died. it costs in texas %86 to sentence somebody to detah but almost $30,000 to let them live in jail...thats no punishment

  • Good job!

  • AND the eye for an eye thing has a loopol... if somebody kills your wife your not gaan go to that dude's home and kill his wife.. and if you do.. your the one whoes going to jail

  • im sorry but we waste tax dollars letting the wicked flourish, just like a society of animals we cut out the weak. It's a natural order, we should also let prisoners who only smoke or deal marijuana free.

  • So we're no better than animals???

  • Humans are worse than animals.

  • Well, I agree with you there

  • I wonder if you'd still be saying that whole 'natural order' rhetoric were you in a wheelchair, assuming you're not.

  • First off, just because I don't believe in CP doesn't make me a hippie, and it doesn't mean I think our soldiers are muderers... It's one thing to just go out and kill someone, it's another to kill someone to protect your own life. You keep wobbling back and forth between making actual intellectual arguements and ignorant senseless statements.

  • "...it's another to kill someone to protect your own life."

Exactly! That is why Capital Punishment is the ultimate justice we have, since human beings do have a right to defend themselves against henious scum.

  • But if they are locked up there is no harm to your life.

  • What about the guards, the other inmates, the visitors, and the innocent public should they escape? There are no second or third chances here. The only safe murderer is a dead murderer. You CANNOT argue with that!

  • Maybe you should go out on a date with Oba Chandler, or Ted Bundy or David Berkawitz, or John Wayne Gacy. I'll send flowers.

  • Do you realize how much you sound like an idiot when you say things like that??? If you disagree with me, fine; Give me reasons why you disagree, and show me your side of the argument, don't just say retarded things that have no argumentitive purpose.

  • How can there be any argument to it. The people that were murdered by these villians that you support are a lot better than you and these killers. You would rather read about people being murdered in the newspapers than you would about people getting justice and punishment for the crimes they commit. OK

  • Just because I'm against the DP doesn't mean I support murderers, or that I want to read about people being murdered. Saying things like that make you sound like an idiot. Your argument should be why you believe what you believe, not just that everyone who is against your view is wrong and evil. Tell me why killing the killers is justice;

  • does that make everything okay? Is that going to make the family happy? Most say that putting the killer of their family member to death didn't change how they felt.

  • The family will never be completely happy with their killer alive in jail either!!!! If it doesn't change how they felt, then they are a bunch of humanists that cannot accept that there is a penalty for something so harsh.

  • there is no crime in society that is equal to murder. When a person is murdered, the murderer has taken into his hands the act of being capital against an innocent person. They take away my right to live, in return they get their fair shake. Don't give me a bunch of tear jerking capital punishment scenes where some killer acts like he is being murdered. Quit being an idiot, let these ruthless killers get what they deserve.

  • You see, there you began to formulate an actually argument, and I apprecieate that; just don't let yourself stray, like you did.

Now, my question is, does that mean that you believe that if you stab me that means I have the right to stab you back, or get someone else to do it for me, if I can't???

  • Why is killing killers justice? It COMPLETELY removes them from society so they can no longer be an influence on ANYONE or ANYTHING. That sounds like supreme justice to me.

  • Now THAT is a really great argument, and it is very difficult to argue with...

But, then again, let's say that we lock them in a special facility where the closest thing to human contact they have is a dish of food being slided to them once or twice a day. Then, they are still completely cut off, yet still retain their life to wallow in the missiery they have created for themselves.

  • You can't do that because it is "cruel and unusual punishment." I still see no point in preserving and managing criminals that are useless and dangerous. Some killers are better off dead.

  • I'm going to assume that when you say "'cruel and unusual punishment'" that you mean that that is what others believe, and not yourself, since you are for CP...

In that sense, then, I would have to agree, which is why I say we need prision reform. If people can't obey the law, I don't believe we have the right to take their life, but all of their freedoms should be forfeit, and they should have to work their butts off to earn their right for shelter and food, and what not.

  • You are living a fantasy. That type of prison will never exist. Even if it did, they STILL need to be fed and managed. In terms of it being considered "cruel and unusual," there are plenty of "human rights" groups out there that would consider it that, namely Amnesty International, whose logo appears on nearly half of your slides. So if you are set on this type of system, Amnesty International is not the poster child you want in your presentation.

  • The images really have nothing to do with what I'm trying to say... They were just a few pics I found that I thought looked good, that's all.

As far as human rights groups go, I think that they need to come to a compromise. If they give up the cushy life in prision, the other side can give up Capital Punishment.

  • Neither side will give and preserving these killers is STILL not justice, because we are still keeping them around. Wipe them out and be done with it. "Human rights" groups think that everyone is the same and that every life is "sacred," and care nothing for the innocent victims of murder which are lost statistics.

  • Saddam Hussein would have suckled on your nipples for eternity had you defended his case like you have tried to make capital punishment seem bad on this recording. Now i bet that is a provocative thought, ay? I can't believe you try to justify letting murderers live.. Hypotheticaly speaking.. How would you feel, knowing that had some1 killed your child or parents or some1 extremely close to you, that the murderer were going to live a better life than the homeless? You are sick!

  • Sorry, that was a bit over the top, but i think you may get my point? I am sure you could feed me with plenty of hypothetical situations, as i can think of many myself that would change the perspective.. Like already mentioned though, it does all start at a young age.. A kid with a bad attitude needs real discipline with real reasoning taught to them, freedom is good, just not when its out of control =)

  • I agree, and I believe that we need a better system set up in prision, where these people wouldn't have so much freedom, but I also believe that we can't tell people it is wrong to kill others by doing just that. Killing the murderers doesn't make any pain subside... If anything, the murderers are getting off way too easy.

  • Capital Punishment is not intended to TELL anyone that something is wrong, but to PUNISH FOR an act that has already been committed by a specific individual.

  • So it's okay to play the 'almighty judge' if someone else does it first??? That's hipocrisy.

  • If we do not judge, who will? It seems you do not understand the difference between crime and punishment. Law enforcement exists for a reason, and the punishment needs to fit the crime. If we do not inflict the maximum punishment when needed, our society is just helpless and has regard for the deceased victims.

  • Wow, that is way beyond ignorant and sexist... You need to step back and evaluate facts, not let your emotions rule over you so completely.

  • thank you for supporting my cause! as the brother of a murder victim, i understand the pain of losing a loved one. but that pain is not enough to warrent taking another life! you rock!

  • I live in Canada and want the death penalty here. There is no room for psycho rapists and killers. If I really had my way I would give the victims family the option of shooting the fucker dead. And that part about God being the biggest killer was stupid.

  • Well, if you think about it, it's true.

  • Only for someone that abuses the Lord's teachings to try and back up their personal beliefs. The fact that almost everyone in your class supported the death penalty should tell you where Canada's generation is headed-the right direction!

  • And only those who abuse His teachings can support the DP... It's a two-way street when you tread down that path.

  • Did she said that some people actually have been proven innocent after their death penalty!?

  • Those are lies that the abolitionist have been using for years. It has NEVER been proven that an inmate was found innocent after execution. The DNA screening was inconclusive. Unfortunately, some of these lies have been accepted as "facts" by the public.

  • Actually, I know someone personally who's uncle was cleared after CP was carried out.

  • Yes, I am sure he was innocent. Perhaps your friend didn't know her uncle as well as she thought she did.

  • DNA evidence proved that it wasn't him.

  • That has never happened.

  • Maybe You should check your facts. I KNOW this person, in REAL life.

  • I thought you didn't even know him by name.

  • I never met him, but I know his neice... He was already dead before I met her.

  • So naturally she is going to say he is innocent just like Juan Luna's family thinks he is innocent in spite of locking seven people in a freezer.

  • DNA has proven that he was innocent, and the governor even sent an apology letter over it.

  • I will believe when I see it. There have been no wrongful executions in this country since 1976.

  • I cannot agree. It is proven that the death penalty deters crime. Documentation from different criminals in jail for lesser crimes stated that they did not commit murder because they were afraid of the death penalty. I do though hope in the future that we speed up the process of execution. And we resort back to the gillotine, a truly quick and painless death.
