  • how do i turn it off? I dont know how to turn doom off?

  • wanna listen to music? Buy an ipod.

Wanna play games? Buy an psp

    Lol

  • genius\

  • How do you play it with the click wheel.

  • Can it run games such as Wolfenstien 3D?

    and can it emulate NES/Genesis/Ect.?

IF so, i might buy a 1st gen for $30 on ebay.

  • fuck wmg

  • does this work on 2nd gen nano and what are control scheme for doom

  • no fhsfjyrfhrtgh, <= that's for the weird youtube minimum content character limit

  • pity this doesn't work on a second-gen nano... I actually call the second-gen nano the most useless one of all nanos, it can't use linux like the first one nor can it play video like the third one.

  • good observation, totally agree

  • dude i wanna do it on the shuffle

  • If anyone want to know how to put doom or GBC games on there ipod go to my page.

  • LIKE THIS VIDEO

  • lol nice case... i have same but i cut off bottem so i didnt have to take the case off to connect

  • ran out of space there but idoom pwns :)

  • ran out of space there but idoom pwns :)

  • will ipodlinux work on an 80gb classic ipod

  • No. I wish it did, it doesn't even work on the iPod Videos (sadly) I looked into it about a year a go, but no cigar.

  • yea it does

  • dude, talk about super efficent coding. what was this written in? C? or assembly?

  • I don't know anybody coding in assembly... 30years ago assembly language was ok but nowadays if you want efficiency you code in C. Wich is exactly the language used by linux. That's why it makes is so fast compared to windows...

  • 1) assembly > C because complicated code structures in C become relatively inefficient massive blocks of code in assembly because it doesnt support such high level concepts

    2) when you compile something with C or any other language it becomes assembly anyway (apart from VM langs like java)

    3) you cant just say "linux is faster than windows".. there's tons of linuxes, tons of things to be fast at and it depends on your system anyway

    4) lol what do you think windows is written in? assembly & C

  • Well i was thinking of Vista where c# was used... But i don't know if it was managed or not...My guess is yes. Because of the memory overloads. It's better to have a managed code from a marketing point of view. Anyway i know everything becomes code machine but this isn't assembly programming...

  • yo how do jump in idoom?

  • i don't think thats possible..

  • Jumping in Doom? pfft!

  • rawlf

  • how do i run doom????where to go????plz help dude!

  • if you made a folder on your ipod partition (the one that shows up in you windows or mac explorer as a disk station) with doom in, all you have to do is open it like I do in my video. just find a folder called hp (this is your ipod partition) inside of linux, and you're viewing the "root" of your ipod windows/mac partition. from there you'll find you doom folder called whatever you named it. mine is called iDoom.

  • yea mine is called idoom too and i found it but when i play it....it says base.wad not found and then then plugin returned error...and then it turns off....

  • check if the file base.wad is missing. have you installed a doom module by the way? if not, you'll better download it. it can be found at ipodlinux dot org. can't include websites in comments for some perverted reason. anyway, just visit their page, select modules from the main site, and find idoom. then, put it on your ipod. ;)

  • Anyone have any idea about the missing base wad report I get when I try to boot Doom? Please reply someone.

  • awesome bro, can u do that on the iphone?

  • No, I don't think so.

I searched for iPhone on the iPodlinux webpage, and here's whatI'we found: " iPodLinux does not, and will never work on the iPhone. There may be a hacked operating system for the iPhone eventually, but don't expect it from here".

So, I guess thats a no.

  • i dont know if was easy to develop a linux por the ipod, but sure was possible, so why the ipod nano cant play videos?? witout it ah ah???

  • how do you do it on the 5th gen ipod video

  • What song is this? Please reply!

  • Linkin Park - Pushing Me Away, I think.

Its a remix, and its not exacly called Pushing Me Away. The CD is called Reanimation. Hope this will help! ( I don't listen to Linkin Park anymore, and I don't know where the album is atm)

  • Please help me do it with mine. Please guide me step bye step. wbs

  • Doom on a 1.6 inch display? Ew.

  • that is soo cool

  • Running Linux on an iPod nano is amazing in of itself. But then you had to throw in the ability to play Doom on one. That's feakin' awesome, dude!

  • Norsk?

  • Jepp, så norsk som du får meg!

  • dude you just cost ipod a lot of money becuz you just made a lap top out of in ipod nano

  • hey pono, your ipod probably needs to enable disk mode. enable it, then minimize the itunes window. if you dont have that awesome exe that automatically installs it, search for it on the ipod linux forums.

  • no fucking way! how can the proccesor cope?! woww

  • The processor aren't that slow really. MP3 is a compressed file format you know, and it takes a bit of CPU to read it. I think the processor on iPod nano is 90 mhz, which is good enough for running linux, and simple programs/games.

  • Fighting a cyberdemon would be impossible, or any mid range to hard monster in Doom for that matter.

  • why won't ipodlinux installer recognize my ipod?

it says "sorry but an error occured and connot continue."

what's the problem anyone know?do i need to downgrade my ipod's firmware perhaps?

I have an ipod video 30gb

    also a 80gb ipod

  • Iam not sure, maybe Apple made som kind of a block in newer firmwares. Read the FAQ and/or visit the forum on iPodLinux(dot)org. And as you mention, maybe downgrading would make it work. But Iam not sure. Anyway, just downgrading the Apple firmware should be a piece of cake. Just insert the CD that came with your iPod, and install that version of iTunes. (If there was any, some ipod actually don't come with the cd. If so, try to download an updater from the internet.) Good Luck!

  • great video

  • Listen to ClusterEclipse. Those who install a custom firmware to their iPod wants to unleash the powers. The original iPod firmware looks great, and all that. But I think its wasting energy on things we don't really need. Like the effects in the menus. FLAC support forexample, would be great. And maybe the possibility to customize some of the firmware.

  • WOW i cannot get this to work even with the installer it comes up with errors:(

  • i dunno why ud waste ure time playing doom on such an inefficient 'peripheral', the controls are so annoying and clumsy. waste of time

  • im sry this was the wrong video i commented on

  • can u do the REalll installation mii cuz ipod got bricked because of this

  • how did you get the upgracde .i googled it ...but i can't find noting for my nano and when i do it makes me restore my ipod

  • how do you start the ipod at the original firmware menu?

  • It starts just like normal. You'll have to press Menu+ Select to restart, and then Backward to boot up linux. The Apple firmware boots as default.

  • how do you get linux to work on it? do you have to install it? and does it work with the 80gb ipod video(thats what i have)?

  • Yeah, you'll have to install it.

But its really easy. Just download the whole package from ipodlinux's homepage and follow the easy GUI. You just use a point and click installer on your computer while your iPod is connected. More information about supported models may also be found on ipodlinux's homepage.

  • o man i wish i had tht i paid 500 bucks to mii cuz to do this for me like j=get linux but he bricked or so call broke my IPOD NANo and im not as rich as ppl think so i cant get wnother one but when i do next month after i get my payment im going to learn

  • haa-haa you spelled view wrong in your video.

  • Haha.. There had to be something wrong. That was really annoying. But, English aren't my regular langauge, so please excuse me. Thanks for telling by the way. From this day, I will read all text in my movies twice.. Anyway, thanks for watching (or should we say viewing?) my video!

  • yes the video was actually nice though. for real. i see alot of mimics of this one too, but still good to watch the framerate (why i loaded it in the first place, checkin framerate) ;/

  • Wow - that pretty cool. Did you know that most mobile phones (Cell Phone to US dudes) run a version of Linux as an interface

  • Lolz0r steffenz pwnd ckyjuggalo420 . ckyjuggalo420 is a n00b

  • unless they put halo on the ipod i don't give a shit about ipod hacks

  • Its unnecessary to tell everybody what you don't give a shit about. Why do you even bother watching the movie? If you don't care about it contents, its no point of viewing, or commenting it. So keep it shut!

  • You need to go back to 2nd grade informatics, please.

  • faen steffen din lille datanørd.hehe bare kødde me dg.koss faen klare du å få inn doom??d e faen sygt.hehe good job man.hilsen vatti

  • google it i fixed mine but i cant explain it

  • how do you put videos on the linux

  • are you using clauncher to run idoom?

because i am stuck cause i cant launch doom from the /mnt or /hp files. as far as i know i installed clauncher/idoom correctly

  • that's badass. Linux people rule!!!

  • thats awesome, but is it hard to play doom on something so small?

  • Niiiiiice hack.

    It has sound too?

  • On the video playback, yes. Unfortunately it won't play any sound on doom yet. I think somebody's working on it, but I haven't heard anything for ages!

  • doom on an ipod through linux. Thats unreal.

  • with linkin park !

  • so somebody actually recognized the song.. yeah, its linkin park, but its great really. much better than the original version of pushing me away =P

  • u r

  • thanks

  • Restarting your iPod won't do any damage. Its the setup of linux that screws thing up if anything goes wrong. Restarting you iPod is may usefull if iPod get stuck on audio playback, or while your veiwing photos.

  • when u restart the ipod does it erase your songs?

im getting a nano soon and if i try this i dont want to mess it up

  • yeah it erases it but it gonna put it back on

  • o ma bad if u restart the ipod it won't erase any of the songs
