@Livdances2538 that was don q fouettes and I JUST heard them today in class, haha, after last hearing it when I performed my first ever DonQ in March! ahh!
i was told not to twist my body on the waist before i do any turn. She twists her body in this vid, though.. when can we twist our body before we do turns?
There are a lot of different methods for turns, some of which work better than others. It depends on who is teaching which technique. But perhaps you were overdoing it and that prompted the specific correction for you--maybe it wasn't intended to make you not do it at all, just a bit less.
She's not twisting her body actually. In an interview, she talks about it. She's stretching the front arm forward and the back arm back. It looks like it though.
@eloisefig It is here: Katherine Healy Interview Ballet Pirouette Technique, Fouettes, Jumps & Corsaire Part 3. That user has other interview excerpts posted of her and some of her coaching a student.
The music that isn't from 'Don Q', is by Karl Czerny and was used for Harald Lander's ballet 'Etudes'. It is available on a 1996 CD fro Seraphim called 'Ballet Gala'.
