Its is definatly a lantern....being a taxi driver in chester I see loads exactly the same...and the glowing is when the currents high above make the flame flutter...
I swear that last night , (thursday 2nd of september) me and my family saw that exact 'thing' in the sky. it was obvious it was a ufo because it was darting around in different directions!
Seen loads of these i captured one over bishop monkton i see them every weekend nearly when i goe see my parents i take the dog out at 8.30 and they seem to always be around in the area ive had three close encounters and i will tell you these they are 100 per cent not chinese lanterns me and my daughter saw 100 one night last year before they started apearing around the country i live near i spy base menwith hill and they were heading in that direction.
It's DEFFINATELY a chinese lantern, i've seen lots of these exactly like that, same colour, same speed, and they glow like that, sorry, but not a ufo.
I just saw the same thing tonight 6th april 2010!! It went right across the sky, then it went up not at a perfect vertical but close enough!! Bright orange light, not on fire but almost pulsing. I live in leeds, roundhay and it wasn't a lantern.

I have seen ALOT of these things this year with my gf. They arn't chinese lanterns. That's just an easy explanation for people who havn't seen them in person. Something needs to be setup to discover what these things actually are!
we had a 2 fleets last night over runcorn, 3 large diamond shaped one looked like they were being attack by loads of the smaller orb like ones, flying in formation. managed to get some photos b4 they all disapeared at high speed
Yep ive caught a few as seen on my channel too mate! The best sighting we had of these was on Sat 26th Aug 06 over Hereford UK. Their was 30 of them just floating over in single column formation from west to east, and then just vanished in the same spot one after another. Since then ive seen various coloured ones all with seperate witnesses. They always seem to come out from 9PM and usually on a Saturday!!! Some idiots say that they are Chinese lanterns! lol.
ive seen something similar but what i saw moved quite quickly the full length of the sky, and whn it entered the clouds it lit them up so bright the had a halo, its a shame we dont see the start of the sighting he says it rose from nearby, which kinda makes me think chinese lantern, nice find tho man 5 *

I just filmed two of these lights hover over my mothers house in glasgow, countryside.
It was moving slowly over me then zoomed off, no sound! then a second one came and flew past me, right over me a moved slowly.
my video os not as clear as yours.
no sound and moved irraticaly. seemed as if it knew i was there.
