Got exactly the same issue with my nearly 3 year old kdl40w4500u. 3/4 of the screen is now permanently shadowed. Got 5 year warranty thankfully. Being collected tomorrow to be repaired.....hopefully.

same here with my KDL-52EX701.... technician just came today... it's the lcd panel.. they will replace it... Bought it in apr/2010... apparently Sony knew this problem... I have 3 year warranty for this tv (usually they just provide 1 year warranty)

Same problem with my bravia! A lot of money to have this happen after only 18 months! Not impressed!

I have the same problem with a KDL-46w4100.

It comes right after 10 min or sometimes a whack on the top right side.
