I like to stack my ms2000 and my poly800 for wicked deep basses, one thing people forget about on the micro-k or the ms2k is the fact that you can boost the low end with the onboard EQ.
I dont think you can beat the sound of a real analog monosynth - this video makes me miss my poly61, for some reason.
This is one of few synths that I really don't like the sound of. Maybe its useful for the odd bass but I much prefer the Juno range to this. Also prefer the MC202.
@maccagrabme Interesting then to note that the VCO (CEM3340) is shared with classics such as the Crumar Spirit (!), MemoryMoog,Oberheim OBX/OBXa, Jupiter 6, Prophet 5, Prophet 10 and Pro One to mention a few... The filter is based on Roland IR3109 chips shared with all Jupiters and Junos. Oh and the MC202 is 100% identical to the SH-101 apart from the lack of a keyboard. Are you SURE you don't like the sound of the SH-101 ?
@Dovinia I had one 20 yrs ago and sold it. I'm no synth guru and at the time it seemed very limiting, especially without midi. In the right hands it can do wonders no doubt and like I said, the bass end is pretty good but I just didn't like the overall tone of the monophonic aspect, hearing it again I cannot say i'd want another one. I bought a Juno 6 shortly after and liked it instantly. The 202 sounds better to me but then again I've never actually used one, just heard demos.
Ive owned 4 01's over the years, standard, nova modded and an Oakley modded too and have to agree. Had a 202 and they sound very different despite the same electronics. 202 is far smoother.
Can't be that hard. The MicroKorg is after all an analog modelling synth, so try this: Apply generous amounts of pulse and square wave and a little less sawtooth, add about 70% sub oscilltor in the mix, run the filter high and the resonance low, full keyboard tracking, fast attack in the adsr section, full sustain and decay. Set release as you wish. Should bring you somewhere close at least... It's a very basic raw sound.
thanks for posting this! sounds great! Are your using any effects on these sounds? sounds like some reverb perhaps? thanks!

Thank you for this video and choosing this format!
Clearly seeing all the sliders allows me to easily recreate the sounds on a Prophet '08.
Finally somebody who realizes the great benefit of no digital patch storage!
