Take a look at davidgaunt555's post. It looks like Citrix figured out how to outdo VMware, even with the TCP disadvantage. Once again, Citrix leapfrogs VMware.
It's obvious that a UDP based protocol will be able to redraw server based video better than a TCP based protocol. What is the point here? Who wants to run their video in the Datacenter? Nobody has the resources to enable that for more than a few users at a time. When is Citrix going to redirect H.264 to enable client side rendering? Certainly before VMware ever considers it.
Can I ask, but why would anyone be watching youtube videos or wmv or flash sites on a virtualize platform, that's not it's intended use in the first place, so who cares about that performance. It's mainly used for editing spreadsheets and other business related paperwork tasks on-the-go. Lets be a little realistic here.
Comparing without metrics is like comparing a frerrari to a ferrari tuned for track racing. From outside they look the same, but under the hood its waaaay different.
@jtroyer0@vivalafocaccia Thanks, but that does not show the configuration of the PCoIP or the HDX policies. From what I hear there is an issue with the existing XenDesktop iPad client, and the new client will be released next week.
With the same configuration can you post a video comparing View to XenDesktop on a PC or thin client without PCoIP chip?
The actual blog is at blogs.vmware.com/euc/2011/09/view-5s-user-experience-on-an-ipad-compared-to-citrix-xendesktop.html . There are more details. The vms have 2GB RAM and 2vCPU. Please also note part of the youtube video is actually slow motion.
The implementation details are listed in a blog post on blogs.vmware.com/euc/2011/09/view-5s-user-experience-on-an-ipad-compared-to-citrix-xendesktop.html
These propaganda videos are a joke, hopefully people will test it by them self and doesn't trust these videos..

Basic propaganda from Vmware..
Citrix can out perform Vmware without any problems when it comes to multimedia, specially flash.
I'm running it smootly from iPad, Galaxy Tab and ThinOS based ThinClients, none of them supports HDX Flash Redirection.
If you really want to test out, try running Full HD flash in View environment.. You can run it smoothly over Citrix if using Flash Redirection.
It also helps out alot with datacenter density, because the it uses around 1% CPU on the VDI itself..

I'd have a look at youtube.com/watch?v=2X7Xw7bGw3w if you want to see what XenDesktop does on an iPad with the latest release...

@vtwinbreed Here u need to understand how fast vmware view compare to citrix, it is not about simply watching videos it is about fast processing.

As Scottcochran pointed out. Doesn't mean much without documenting the config/environment

Are these actual out of the box configurations?
Please post details on the configuration and proof in the video....
