This song sounds best really loud! I use to play this over and over before surfing when this came out.... Thank you for putting this up awesome album.... :-0
Ray Gomez! I saw them perfom Schoold Days live in Sacramento, CA many years ago. I believe Gomez was the very best choice as a guitarist for this project. I think he's living in Spain or UK now.
This is the song and album that made me wanted to play the bass! In the liner notes of Stanley Clarke's 1988 album, "If This Bass Could Only Talk", he stated that "if anyone is serious about learning to play the bass, they need to pick up the "School Days" album and learn to play the title track." I learned this on a custom-made baritone guitar (I just used thick guage strings for E and A). I succeeded with blistering fingers-LOL. Stanley is one of the most influential bassists!
Bought the album in the late 70s and all I could say was WOW. Now listening to it in 2012 all I can say is WOW. After all these years it still retains....the music goes beyond masterpiece.
I missed out on this graet musician! We were spoiled by a lot of bassist! From jazz to funk to r&b, we just had great musicians! Oh! don't forget The Blues!
@loonytune324 Yep! From Pleasure's Nathaniel Phillips, and Weather Report's Jaco Pastorius and Sly And the family Stone's Larry Graham. Then there's the late Mark Adams of Slave and EWF's Verdine White. All good ones. BETTER than good actually.

I've loved this tune since I was a college freshman in 2002. Listen to it whenever I travel. The tempo seems a little fast on YouTube.
