Sometimes i think it was just yesterday, sometimes a hundred years, and most the time a dream. Eugene wasn't 19 yet, Jimmie was 20. I turned 21 over there. My first interview for a job was with a WWII nurse. Did I get the job? "hell yea". Thanks to the ones' who did support us. The ones that we lost. I swear I will never forget my brothers and sisters,,,Spectre1
Chu Lai, Southern I Corp. This and "the Letter", remember it well. To those who share the memories, good and bad, glad we are still around to remember.
My dad was in Vietnam. Stationed at Binh Thuy for 6th months then various places on the Mekong Delta for another 6, 70-71. He joined the army the day after he turned 17, he was stationed in Germany for 6 months then got orders for Vietnam.
My neighbor was in Vietnam. He said it was kill or be killed, regualrless of the age, man or woman. Most of what was told to us in the United States was not true.
GOD BLESS OUR FALLEN HEROES WHO NEVER MADE IT HOME AND TO THOSE WHO DID COME HOME BUT WHO ARE NOW WITH THIER FALLEN BROTHERS IN ARMS..LIKE MY FATHER SGT. RUDY REGALADO US ARMY WHO SERVED 2 TOURS OF DUTY IN VIETNAM 1966-68..MAY WE NEVER FORGET THIER SACRIFICE AND THAT THEY WILL FOREVER BE IN OUR HEARTS!!
thumbs up if you hate the poeple that say war is "wrong" you should tell thiem because of our vits you have the right to say that. i hate when people tell me war is for the gay. i think thier gay...
My brother died at An Khe September 20, 1970. I have been to the Memorial in DC. I wrote a poem which has been published and recorded to music. I will never forget and have said as much in the poem. Please know that a Viet Nam vets group in Rockford, Illinois made me an honorary member of there group. I want to thank those vets for all they did and I will never forget you. Jane M. Gathman Burton. This is for you all and for my brother, PFC. Gordon K. Gathman Jane Burton
Even after all these years I cannot explain how I got out of the mud and jungles of the Mekong Delta alive. I met some of the best people I have ever known during that time. Many of them were killed beside me in combat. I am convinced that if my generation (Baby Boomers) produced a great leader such as Lincoln or Roosevelt, he died in Vietnam. Sorry I can't think of anything happy to say.
Awesome video! You too can pay tribute to Viet Nam Vets by visiting the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire, NM, just East of Taos. First memorial in the country, beautiful setting, great museum. Big show Memorial Day weekend with 10-20,000 motorcycles at Red River Run. See you soon at Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza!
It wasn't hippies who tossed rocks at me and harassed me and my friends when we returned. It was your clean cut young men and women who should have known better. There wasn't a hippie in the bunch - just a gaggle of spoiled kids who wanted everything and knew nothing. I bear no ill will against any hippie for they never did anything or said anything bad to me. On the other hand, I got a lot more understanding from hippies than anybody else other than fellow vets and family members.

PRC-25 Radio Operator 69-71 Central Highlands with the 4th Infantry Division elements from search and destroy to fire-support and forward observer. Thank you for this post and you got the Vietnam Anthem correct-Eric Burden and "We gotta get outta this place". There is not a Vietnam Vet that don't think about about the war at least every day, most think about it much more often!
my dad, RIP, (1947-2002) did his time in vietnam ,173 Airborne ('67-'69) only to come back and then contract hodgkins lymphoma from exposure to agent orange. i watched him die for years like a strong soldier but death is death; soldier or baby.
Thanks for putting this out there for those of us who served and for those who only know from their parents. Anyone who was there knows this was the last fast song every night whenever there was music. Then we all paused, stood up and sang "God Bless America."
Thanks for posting. After our return from 'Nam to the world, it is heartwarming to see the returning Marines and Soldiers receive when they return from overseas today. Support the troops.... always!
My dad was a Vietnam Vet. He was in the Army, a door gunner. 11th Armored Cavalry.. He died of Agent Orange related Lung/brain cancer on March 20, 2008. He was only 57. THANK YOU and WELCOME HOME to all you Vietnam Veterans. You will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart. Also the ones who didn't make it home, the MIA's and POW's. We can never forget them.
From a 1/11th ACR Vietnam Vet, I'm sorry for your loss. The VA and our Gov't gives lip service to those dying of Agent Orange but little else. I've lost 2 buddies to it and I'm sure more that I don't know about. As long as any of us are alive, we will never forget those who have gone before us.
Fuck all the hippies who tossed shit and garbage at the brave soldiers on their return. I'm English but i respect the USA and it's brave soldiers. If i was alive during the Vietnam War i would be behind you guys just like i support all our troops overseas now.
That is the same with me, boy if i was around during the Vietnam war, and lived in the U.S Of course i would have enlisted. I believe in serving your country.
Thanks and God Bless to our Vietnam vets! You gave up a part of your life... some gave everything. Although none of that can be returned, you'll be known as America's hero's... nothing less.
We where trying to stop the spread of communism and save millions of people from the viles of communism. All you anti war protester have a lot of blood on your hands millions of south Vietnamese and Cambodians where slaughtered after the US left Vietnam. But you wont ever talk about that you little bitch.
Thanks for the video. I spent a year in Nam and would do it all over again. We who served rememer those who passed and will untill the last one of us goes to the final resting place. We also salute all those who are fighting and dieing in all wars.
I've worn my Vietnam Veteran's hat for many years now in memory of my comrades, and only once did anyone say anything to me and that was by another vet.
this was our song, for the reluctant warrior, for all those who didn't wanna go, but went anyway, HERE'S TO US AND THOSE LIKE US,,,,,,,,and FOR ALL THOSE WHO WORE THE UNCLE SAM LABEL, ANYWHERE ANYWAY ANYHOW!
