On the outside the drive is perfect but internally he stated it had bad sectors which are areas the hard drive can no longer read and can no longer write to. Bad sectors often mean the drive is about to fail completely all he's doing here is speeding the process up for his enjoyment.
@c0rrupts3ct0r555 lol. i have a blu ray camera that just eats video and if you are familiar with Fraps(records on screen video games) it has raw uncrompresssed video of your whole screen size(1920/1200) so i had 500 GB at least of just video on my 1 tb WD. i was sad.
@bumps123456789 totally, maxtors now are STM which are seagate technology maxtor. and to be honest maxtor isnt even around anymore. im glad there gone. junk hdds anyhow
@Thunderbolt1003Fan maxtors last long and are dependable ive never had one die because of poor quality its the brand i use for all of my older pcs the newer ones get seagates

@c0rrupts3ct0r555 well the only reason i had 2 maxtor drives fail is because i droped one and the other when i was putting it into a computer case and i pushed it in to hard and it hit the back if the hdd cage too hard and as far as i know all of my drives have no bad sectors

some laptops, yeah...its as thick as a Vraptor.. 3 platters... Be nice to get one in my laptop... I have a spartan ( MSI Barebone ).. its got a core 2 duo and a 8600 GT video card... can play COD2 on it and stuff. lol

But I had one power supply unit fail and another catch fire in several systems I acquired last year. I also found one of them to have a failing hard drive - a 3GB Quantum Fireball ST.
I've only bought a 1GB Seagate Medalist myself. Though it has a small group of bad sectors close to the beginning of the drive, it works perfectly.
if you worked with me at the computer shop we got gateways, dells, hps, mostly gateway and dells with the diamondcrash 9 and some 8's and some of the slimline 5400's and i swear when im workin on the pc i hear that click the same click in my diamondcrash video... but i just think im going nuts... but the hdd keeps chugging away. even passes the hd test
we had to run a hd test twice on a dying maxtor before it showed up bad... MAXTOR sucks and sefails does too lol
macs are WAY to overpriced for a glorified PC running Unix..... i'd rather hackintosh it then pay 2500-4000$ for a good mac... when you can get the same priced PC for cheaper

this is a scorpio 5400 or blue as they call it.. it was out of a DELL refurb no warranty junk..
i dont mean to be so hateful of DELL but i like to have new shit in my pc not some remanufactured stuff.
The scorpio blacks are 7200.
hey did u hear WD came out with a 750GB and 1TB scorpio blue drive....
they are as thick as the vraptors too.. wont fit in some lappys
