  • I have the album from 1964 . It is my favorite Christmas album

  • I cant listen to this music without seeing snow falling and swirling and blowing in drifts in my mind. Beautiful!

  • Good God, Guaraldi was a genius. This is mesmerizing

  • Beautiful and Timeless <3

  • There is another version on youtube.

  • This is love made music

  • oes anybody here realize that Greensleeves goes back to fifteenth century England? "What Child..." is a direct melody lift.

  • the piano is simply an extension of this man's fingers. uncanny.

  • Greensleeves existed in 1580. Refer to Shakespeare. Then a christian overrode the original lyrics of a love lament, about 300 years later. Same crap as with the blasphemy of slathering christian lyrics over "Freude, schöner Götterfunken" / Beethoven's Ninth as "joyful joyful we adore thee". Why must people override human experience and love for humanity w/ dogmatic mythology in a terrible attempt at improving the original?

  • @johnwhite79 look at hollywood....they do it all the time to books. (and as of late, previously released motion pictures). i think its because people cant think for themselves anymore.

  • Greensleeves = What Child Is This. They are one and the same. Love.

  • ok :) i dunno just sound like what child is this my mistake

  • @RubyLeo2006 I don't have time to go into it now, but please go to Amazon and looking at the CD listing of these songs. :) This is Mr. Guaraldi's "Greensleeves", the CBS Recording of this album. Take care.

  • @RubyLeo2006

Greensleeves came first; the song "What Child is This" was set to the Greensleeves melody.

  • @RubyLeo2006 Greensleeves was written in 1580, while What Child Is This was written in 1865 and was put to the tune of Greensleeves. Therefore, there is no way to differentiate them other than duration.

  • @1nijigirl2 ok my apologizes

  • @RubyLeo2006 Actually, they are both takes on the same song. Greensleeves is sometimes alternatively referred to as "What Child is This." Guaraldi decided to record two versions of it. "What Child is this," however, has a somewhat different feel to it. Trust me, I have the album. This is "Greensleeves."

  • @RubyLeo2006 Greensleeves and What Child is This share the same music.

  • @RubyLeo2006 No, this is "Greensleeves". But I can see why you'd be confused, because "Greensleeves" came first, & "What Child Is This" had the melody. But I know this is "Greensleeves", because you can note small differences between the two during the beginning.

  • Thank you!
