This video perpetuates such a lie. The first airplane to take off on its own power was invented by Alberto Santos-Dumont, the 14 BIS. The Wrights created glider in 1903.

Orville Wright lived until 1948. Does anyone know if there are any existing videos of him talking on camera? Unless he became a recluse, I would think he would have been interviewed for newsreels and such on at least an occasional basis.

I don't understand, if video camera was invented in 1925 how did the wright brothers film some footage of the flyer in 1908?

Does anyone know when video cameras were invented? It must have been before or during the Wright Brothers time because they have some video footage of their flyer.

@PilotRiaz There was NO VIDEO in Chaplin's time, don't you understand that? Video is the electronic recording of moving pictures, be it on tape, CD, DVD, or digitally. Chaplin had film. And yes, he did do some sound films later in his career. Recording of sound dates back to the late 1800's, but the trick was to get the sound syncronized with film. That did happen even BEFORE Chaplin, but it wasn't until the late 1920's that it was good enough to be adopted by Hollywood.

Wright bros. built it first and they built many models that flew in the air the 1908 model just was the only one that flew the longest so you are kinda wrong and they built there first one in 1902 and Dumont built his in 1906 I think you confused yourself with 1908 flight which was not the wright's first flight, just their longest I think. The first flight was in fact made in 1902 in New Zealand by a 25 year old inventor known as Richard Pearse on Mar 31st. The distance was reported to be 350 yards.

France anounnced that the first person who could show its experiment would be named ''the inventor of the airplane.''However, they showed up just in 1908. At that date,the scientific comission in France, had given a reagard to ''Santos Dumont(a Brazilian man)'' because he had already showed up in 1906, showing the ''14bis''(the first airplane invented by a man).

You are right. They did not build the first plane, and they wern't the first to fly. Several other people constructed gliders and used air currents to fly. However, Wilbur and Orville were the first to build and fly for a sustained amount of time with a engine.
