  • 1) Is this from the 80's ?

    2) was it filmed with a mammoth tusk?

  • @scribblinger What are you ranting about?

  • @LDP060681 not much to get about an album that is completely out of tune …

  • @scribblinger I'm too old to really know what trolling is etc but is that what you're doing? In case you didn't know, a lot of trance & gothic music is made slightly downbeat and flat sounding. It's part of the aesthetic.... to me this album is perfectly produced for the piece of art it is.

  • @LDP060681 I agree :o) The album is a masterpiece!

  • @LDP060681 it sure is dude! It's like a moodier weirder version of Enya or All About Eve and those kind of melancholic bands...80s ftw everytime hey.

  • great band, great music. alas, the whole album is so poorly produced that ameli is completely out of tune on every single track. this one is the worst, the vocals are almost a quarter note lower than the soundtrack!

  • @scribblinger sounds like you're just not getting it lol

  • What a masterpiece this whole album is. Every single song is perfected.

  • i loved this band when i was 16 (around the time the album came out), and i really loved this video.

  • This is the best...This group is legendary ...Wow :-)

  • It´s great song !!

  • @annavolkova Yeeeeees

  • и где оно это bel canto???

  • .........oh, sorry............

  • Long live the Angels of Scotland!

  • Elysium - Well said and yes it never ceases to amaze me how much hate gets spilled in these comment threads... especially when discussing beautiful music. It's pathetic.

  • 13 ppl are ass holes

    nice statistic

  • @iisadoraf 14 PEOPLE

  • @iisadoraf

    don´t blame tolerance :)

Some ppl like GOOD music, some don´t. Just the same like most people are sleeping and some are awake.

  • @jobiwan73 so the people that share your taste in music are the awakened? im sure your tired of searching for the truth. go back to sleep, realise you were also only dreaming.

  • que voz maravilhosa ♥

  • wow ! really good !

  • You can hear Geir all over this. I guess it wasn't long after this that he released 'To The North Pole By Submarine'. An awesome LP, that changed my life. I visited Tromsø and it's in a stunningly beautiful location. The town itself is rather nice and spaced out. Not all on top of each other like the UK. I had a real sense of where Geir's music comes from up there... ;)

  • They make me want to move to Norway, freeze my butt off, and become a viking. Great music!

  • Hauntingly beautiful!

  • fantastic song!

  • Smo am o da nastagia para ocho en perro coche de estan conjo en el choxo!

  • Why am I the first to comment this beauty???

Why am I to see this only now?

Why haven't I heard of this before?

It took me all the way long from Delphic to Primal Scream to Jah Wobble to this Wonder here to know.

Now I am in Shangri La!!!

  • @inspiralroses Well I knew I wasn't the first. But I'd be glad to be the last. Cos this song shall not be commented at all anymore. I'm only shivering into night.

  • don't like the new utube

  • She has such a beautiful voice

  • Personally, I think the most beautifu fjord is the Mustang!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow, I have never actually seen this video. Now it all makes sense...

  • She's A friend of mine from artschool. Anneli is just so beutiful as a person too, inside and outside:)

  • one of the best albums ever.

  • I love Norway!!!

  • Hey Bluetsunami no need to be insulting. I just said they should use a different name not that they were bad I thiink theyre good and if you think singing with proper technique is lifeless singing you must be a very uneducated person.

  • Hey cathalg312 - I would say that hoping that a total stranger's parents are dead is pretty massively ignorant, my friend. Not to mention childish.

  • @edfou5 hmmmm

  • @edfou5 hate attracts hate...wouldn't you agree ?

  • @elysium28: yes. But this is Youtube. Every variety of crazy is on offer.

This is great music; but if other people don't like it, I think they're entitled to their opinion. If people can't express themselves with a bit of freedom here, then where?

  • @RHutton2710 I'm all for other people's opinion but not hate

  • @elysium28: agreed.

  • Anneli Drecker me pone palote.

  • get over yourself, their name is Bel Canto and theres nothing you can ever do about it. if it bothers the internet police, EVEN BETTER!!

  • Comment removed

  • Who cares?

  • @Swatsinger You did, appearantly.

  • The're Scandinavians

  • No idea what you're talking about, Anneli Drecker has one of the most beautiful, haunting voices of any Norwegian I've ever heard. Anneli ROCKS!

  • This is a old music video I never have seen before. Even if I live in the same town as this band started (Tromsø) and I have been on some of their conserts. And offcourse I have the records too :)

But this song is from one of my favorite albums. I wonder where this movie is shot. Maybe in the fjord where I lived at this time...

  • Excuse me but do you know anyone who has a better picture version of You Rock My World Tonight? many thanks.

  • supper gentle

  • world music? ethereal? goth? god this band rocked. it went damn well with Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins and Black Tape for a Blue Girl

  • Agree with DCD and CT. I never could get much into Black Tape- and it wasn't that I didn't try- bought several of their CDs. Seemed amateur compared with the others mentioned although there were some decent tracks.

  • Beautiful song!

  • De donde es ella?

  • norvegia

  • Classic song!!! very ethereal sounding,

    almost mystical!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good song looks really cold were this video is shot.

  • geil

  • Great! I am still working on a videoclip for "Spiderdust" will post it as soon as it is done!

  • first cd i ever bought :)

  • It's always so sad when great groups disband. The solo acts never measure up to what originating band was. Yes Drecker on her own is good.... but the synergy that a band has and how they play off each other seems not to be stressed enough in the success!!!!!!

  • They're not disbanded. Though they may work slow ;)

  • fantastic! Truly original. A favorite of mine for 20 years now. I too hope to her live some day. I still listen to their first 3 albums frequently.

  • Amazing!

  • This is one of the greatest, most creative and original bands I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. I have known of them for almost 16 years and because I live in the U.S. have never had the honor to see them live. But I hope than one day, I should get that pleasure of seeing Ms.Drecker live. She puts modern American female artists to shame with her amazing vocals. I wish more people could be exposed to them instead of the manufactured drivel we get on our radios. Thank u for posting!

  • I love her voice, not only because she is from my hometown Tromsø, but she has a unique voice....

  • The best norwegian band ever!

  • I love this music a lot!!

  • full clip pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee????

  • I played this record incessantly when I worked at Turtle's Records and Tapes! It is FABULOUS!

  • Hardly.

  • no,thank you.

  • Sarah McLachlan debuted in 1988.

    Bel Canto in 1985.

And why on earth does there have to be any relation?

  • thelimp, you are correct Bel Canto did debut before Sarah, BUT there is a relation. They were both managed and distributed by the same company... Bel Canto was on Nettwerk in North America and may have been in Europe too! There are actually some late 80s shows that they played together!

  • Yes, could be.

My comment was more a reply to trougounounprout's suggestion that Bel Canto is/was some kind or rip off.

  • I come from the same city as Bel Canto. They made music in their bedroom, creating the sound on their own. No big studios or "big shot" producers involved.

  • While they may have worked to create their own sound, which most bands do, Bel Canto's first album was produced by Giles Martin, Sir George Martin's son, who is most definitely a big shot producer! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Bel Canto and find their music to be amazingly original and incredibly inspiring, but to assume they were in no way influenced by the music trends at the time, or helped by producers is simply wrong!

  • Anneli Drecker´s voice is definitely the scandinavian response to Liz Fraser. Check out the inflexions of the vocals. Two amazing singers.

  • Liz is unique!

  • i love anneli, she is one of my vocal inspirations.

  • Can´t believe it!, Birds of passage is the most beautiful record i´ve ever heard, my favorite song was "the suffering"... They have lots of fans here in México.

  • Why was there no video for Oyster from Birds of Passage?

  • This is not Real Bel canto Its supose to mean beautiful singing and its suppose to be the same sort that opera singers use

  • No, it's not. It's Bel Canto in the sense of the band's name. Just like Pink Floyd weren't pink, nor were they called Floyd.

  • real Bel Canto has Died sadly but there is still hope from the young tenor Juan Diego Flórez

  • You're absolutely right!

  • Bel canto is much more than beautiful singing. This is really nothing to do with it. Just a name indeed.

  • yes the bel canto form of singing is much more than jhust a beautiful singing i is a scientific form of singing

  • The discs where Biosphere takes part, has a different mood then the latter, a more mystical, Nordic sense unlike everything I have heard from them later. Tip: check out the first track on their debut album, Blank Sheets:)

  • thx for share!

  • "Birds Of Passage" is for me the best record of them, maybe on of the best "records" ever made, with a trio yet all songs of there are wonderful and amazing songs and sounds.. their third record is very good , but "Birds Of Passage" has a climate that invokes my soul and hits my mind ...forever songs! thank you BEL CANTO!

  • Thanks! This song brings back sweet memories...

  • It's just such a beautiful video and song! It never ceases to amaze me! :) Thanks for posting it!

  • Precioso! Amo Escandinavia!
