This is a great series on tarot from the skeptic position. I think its the only one of its kind on youtube so far. It's good because it deals with the cards themselves. Most skeptical treatments of tarot at least the American ones examine the issue of psychics using cold reading but psychics can use anything for this. Australian skeptics appear to get deeper into the history of the cards like the Victorian Skeptics website. This is an approach more American skeptics should take I believe.
@SkeptiGamer Thank you. The script was actually drawn from a debate at the Aeclectic Tarot forum, where there was a genuine lack of understanding regarding science, skepticism, and their application to tarot. I attempted to make a deffence and answer some of their questions there and it was my moral argument that led to my change of attitude.
@greenelf12 - Of course, I do not mean to suggest that all tarot readers mean to do wrong - they often believe in what they do and desire to help. And of course, there is no force of belief and a there is a free choice - but that is true of so many things that we might call snake oil and such. People are persuaded of all kinds of things, which is why we need watchdogs. Official and otherwise.
@ANIideas I agree on the watchdog's which is what I was really trying to say there is however the fraudulant mediums act. I feel a lot of mainstream psycics knowenly "cheat" and the spiritual world would do themselvs a favour by challengeing them more. The spiritual church circuit is a different world and has more genuine people.
what i'm trying to say is that even if a reader beleaved that the traot is supernatual they still my not nesisarly force that belef on the reader or insist that the tarot should govern their life. tarot as with anyting can be used unethicly but not evreyone would do so.
About the ethics, at it's worst that could happen yes, but even with the readers who beleave that they are contacting "spirit" may start off the reading by informing you that it should be seen as entertainment primeraly with posible theraputic benifits. it should also be inportant to inform the readee that any disision is always their and any message form the cards should be seen as being a basis of reflection or inspirational but not the final say.
great video well done!!

Is that your voice? Or is that generated by the Crazy Talk software?

@ZoZem Sadly, it is my own voice, the one thing I cannot replace at this time. If I could, I certainly would!
