Dude, I'm watching this on NBA channel right now, and they're showing the whole broadcast and one of the commentators called the dunk Jordan did at around 1:30 the "Chinese Super Man" dunk, because he comes in "from the side and slanted"! Hella racist!

Nique has been robbed his whole career, no way this game should have been omitted from being named one of the NBA'S top 50 greatest players of all time, that was a travesty, that was bogus, that was lame, and that was shady......nobody could guard this guy one on one...period
Dominique should have won, his dunks was much more powerfull and in it´s own way difficult. Jordan had the benefit that it was in Chicago Stadium. Wilkins has always been my favorite because of his power plays. All tho Jordan got his hole own style, but i will go for Dominique specially in dunking.
1:54-56 Jordan gets so high he adjusts his head so as to not to hit the ring (must be SO annoying when that happens.....) and could have thrown his elbow inside the ring on the other side................ damn.

Sorry, Dominique Wilkins should've won this! I know that Nique was doing similar dunks to the ones which he did in the 1986 contest, but at least he switched them up more then MJ did. Every dunk which i saw there by Jordan was what he did the year before. Its still spectacular to see, but Jordan could've done better.

Wow the free throw line dunk has gotten underatted. Like Brent Barry got a 45 on one. His foot was farther back than any of jordans. Once again, Clyde the glide just gets so close but the competition is to high. If the Glide had played in anothyer era he would of won every slam dunk competition. He is the most underrated dunker ever.
The reason this is still one of the best competitions is because it was back when All Stars actually competed. MJ and Nique were high caliber players, not the rookies who compete today. And just the look of the era, with MJ's crisp white Jordan's, Nique's high top fade, 1988 was dope.

If they`ve had contitions like today players.... Today participants of slam dunk contests are practicing 4 dunks all the year. And they have 2 minutes + 2 attempts after that time limit to make a dunk. MJ & Nique era = tougher conditions. And Kenny Smith once told wise thing: "Pick up some simple dunk and make it great."
the thing about Nique that i noticed is that, he's got it all as a dunker, flight height finesse and power, but MJ dam..its like lookin at a God dunking, its poetry in motion
This was the most exciting dunk contest, however Nique got a snow job of with the 45 for his dunk. Im sorry, but the second foul line dunk that Jordan did was way better then his one in the semi's. He might have jumped 3 inches closer in, but he got higher, he kicked his legs out more, and he pulled the ball back farther. Take a look at the famous photo that got snapped of him mid flight. He was EYE LEVEL with the rim. Ponder that for a second...GOAT

@MessiahSkywalker Jason Richardson, Desmond Mason and Gerald Green are better dunkers than MJ and Dominique. They are so underrated, imagine if MJ threw it off the glass, put the ball thru his legs and dunked it, just imagine. And J-Rich has done a 360 between the legs off an alley.

Its a toss up really, jordan had homecourt to help sway the judges....Jordan definately has more grace than Wilkens, and seriously is there a better image in Basketball dunk history than can be seen when pausing at around 3.33

You must be kidding yourself if you honestly think any of Jordan's foul line dunks were "the same". Pause that shit at 3:33. He fucking double pumps his entire body and cocks the ball behind his head. In fact, all his foul line dunks were done differently. They only thing they all had in common was that he took off from about the same distance.

Wow the free throw line dunk has gotten underatted. Like Brent Barry got a 45 on one. His foot was farther back than any of jordans. Once again, Clyde the glide just gets so close but the competition is to high. If the Glide had played in anothyer era he would of won every slam dunk competition. He is the most underrated dunker ever.

The reason this is still one of the best competitions is because it was back when All Stars actually competed. MJ and Nique were high caliber players, not the rookies who compete today. And just the look of the era, with MJ's crisp white Jordan's, Nique's high top fade, 1988 was dope.

i had the privilege of watching a prime 'nique twice at the omni in the 80's. he was the greatest dunker of all time in my opinion. the final dunk by jordan was NOT a 50.

Lots of people say Nique was robbed in this, but Jordan was robbed too - his 47 should have been a 50, Nique's 45 should have been a 50, and there should have been a final dunk-off.

It seems like that, but they were trying to think about something new RIGHT AT THE PLACE(this is what i call imagination). And they were allowed only 1 miss. If they`ve had contitions like today players.... Today participants of slam dunk contests are practicing 4 dunks all the year. And they have 2 minutes + 2 attempts after that time limit to make a dunk. MJ & Nique era = tougher conditions. And Kenny Smith once told wise thing: "Pick up some simple dunk and make it great."

This was the most exciting dunk contest, however Nique got a snow job of with the 45 for his dunk. This was many of things where Nique got screwed over (Pippen over him for the Dream team in 92 & getting traded for Danny Manning while the hawks were on their way to being the #1 seed in 1994). On a side note best 3 point contest as well that afternoon.

Im sorry, but the second foul line dunk that Jordan did was way better then his one in the semi's. He might have jumped 3 inches closer in, but he got higher, he kicked his legs out more, and he pulled the ball back farther. Take a look at the famous photo that got snapped of him mid flight. He was EYE LEVEL with the rim. Ponder that for a second...GOAT
