i believe the action was forced in the movie and they didnt really stay true to the book, where in the book its like a horror thriller with sso much story content with great action, it just seems that action that was never in the book was forced into the movie that i just didnt agree with

I actually saw the movie first before finding the books, and was surprised at how much they differ. But regardless I still really like the movie. It's just so creepy and weird.

I haven't seen the sequel to the movie though, Day Watch, yet. But I did read the book first for that one.

As much as I like this movie and its sequel, I have a real problem with the fact that they have little to nothing to do with the books (which in my opinion are some of the greatest fantasy/horror novels ever written). I guess sometimes you shouldn't judge a movie by the book its based on.

@tommythecat1993 Yeah, there should be a third but it'll likely never be made. It's called "Dusk Watch." I read something about the director became huge after he directed "Wanted" and the studio didn't want to continue the series without him.

Indeed. I have read all 4 books, you can buy the English versions off Amazon.

The films are an alternate timeline or "what could have been" and it briefly explained in the "Day Watch" book printed in 2008.

The films also incorporate elements of all 4 books, for example, the lorry hitting Zabulon doesn't appear until the 4th book.

I thought the movie was the shit. I just felt that not enough was explained, so I read the books. all four ot them back to back within a week (yes, I was late to the party and thought it was pretty cute how the books made references to what happens in the movies)

now I can't really watch the movies anymore because while they are still good, they are to the books what a feather is to an eagle.

if they made a new set of movies, closer to the source material, few things would make me happier.

Watch this movie, watch it!!!!! It's fucking fantastic. It's a great fantasy movie with vampires included. I saw it on IFC last night and it made me want to watch day watch again. I heard that Twiligh twatch is going to be acquired by Fox. From what I read, they won't have much to do with it which is great-- one less American director fucking up a foreign film, or should I say potentially fuck up.
