@1269KISSES That was his manager Jim Jacabs that died in 88. He kept Tyson busy fighting every 3 months and very well trained and prepared for his fights. When he died King took over and then it went down hill from there. This was not the first time they kissed. You see Tyson was trained and managed by these guys when he was 14. So he really was a man child. So there pictures of him hold hands and kissing Cus, Teddy, and Jim they way a dad would his young son.

Mike identified w/ Jacobs because Jacobs himself was an athlete & holds or used to hold a world record in hand ball & could also run 100 yard dash 10s.

He actually promoted the fight with Joe Lewis & Max Schmeling in Germany while Hitler was scaring the shit out of the world & He was considered the greatest hamball player of all time, is the reason why we see all those old fight clips on ESPN Classics bc he sold the rights to ESPN, was Tyson's Manager, one of his closest friends and was like a brother to him. Hence the closeness u see with the kiss.

He was Tyson's last real mentor/father figure after Cus D'Amato. Once he died there was no one to stop King getting Tyson in his clutches.

Berbick, Thomas, Tucker etc were indeed very very good fighters. Had Tyson not emerged, I think Tucker would have taken over the role of Larry Holmes, keeping the title for a long long time. But because of Tyson, these guys simply got beaten with absolutely ease, making them look worse than they were. They were not bums, Tyson just made them LOOK like bums.
