  • Hi there, i remember there to be a specific song going on about "Rhythm all around you", do you have that one? :) Thanks!

    ~Selestiel

  • @Selestiel I just uploaded it, and it's on my front page if you want to check it out. I'd forgotten that someone else had suggested it, too ^^'

  • I love Lost in Boggley Woods, the Mushroom Forest, Lullabies I and II, the Airship and Love Songs. Any songs from those would be awesome :).

  • OH man I forgot about his caterpillar buddy!

  • Can You make a stereo recording of one of the tapes and put it on here? (So that it has the Left and Right Audio Channels.) I know it would sound bad, but i made one of those audio cassettes with the headphone jack so that it works with my ruxpin. I just don't have a tape or a sound file that properly controls his face.

  • I've tried doing that before, and sadly digital copies of the tape won't make his face work. It will reset the servos so he's in the "mouth closed, eyes open" position but nothing happens after that. For some reason recording programs just can't translate the signals to animate him. I'm still trying to find a way to make it work though- I'll let you if I'm ever successful =)

  • I suspect the reason for this is that the lossless compression used with audio formats such as MP3 play absolute havoc with the Pulse Position-Modulation (PPM) data track that controls Teddy's eyes and mouth. If you want to digitize the tapes, I'd suggest recording them in PCM Wave format, that may not work either, but it's all I can suggest. I hope that helps you. What audio format did you use when you tried to record the tape stories?

  • I made a mistake in my last post, MP3 is not lossless compression, it's what we call lossy compression, bits of the sound are taken out during the compression. Audio formats such as Apple Lossless and WMA Lossless are forms of lossless compression. I hope that helps, and I hope I haven't confused anyone.

  • @blueoctopede

I ended up getting my hands on a sample of the control track... Its a bad section cause his eyes are closed and he just kind of seizes up. But i'm getting closer to figuring out the signal... I need to find a pulse position modulator program or something.

  • Good find! Would you mind letting me know if you ever get it to work? =)

  • Oh how I absolutely love this song. Someone else uploaded a video of There's Rhythm Everywhere, but the audio quality is disgusting and distorted, are you able to upload a video of Syncapation from Grunge Music? I love these bloody things, I never had one as a kid, I want one badly.

  • Get one on Ebay! They're great!

When I have some free time I'll make a recording and upload it for you. Goodness I haven't made a video in forever... It might be a while, though; Grubby has started acting finicky on me ;)

  • Teddy Ruxpin is an awesome MC, what doesn't he cover a few Run DMC songs? What's the deal with the red spots on Grubby's nose and between his ears?

  • Those are just Grubby's freckles. He has them going all down his back, too. =)

  • I remember having these toys when i was 5 in 1986 for christmas, i even watched the cartoon every weekday afternoon religiously.

  • i have the teddy ruxpin but his face doesn't move anymore, he just plays tapes :(. it's funny how they are supposed to be animated, yet their arms stick straight out in the air like no "living" person/animal's would haha

  • If you put a tape in and gently move his mouth/eyes up and down to the words, he'll come unstuck eventually. It's a common problem with Teddies, so don't throw him away =)

Haha I just re-stuffed on of mine's arms the other day. One was saggy where he had been carried around too much. Now instead of being cute and floppy they're shrunken a little and stick straight out like that, it's kind of awkward looking xD

  • ask for a refund!

  • do they both have blue eyes??

  • Someone finally noticed!!! =D

Yeah that is my "one-of-a-kind" Teddy that I modified myself to have blue eyes! A while back he decided to jump off my bookshelf and broke his face... I ordered some new parts on Ebay and the person was nice enough to give me some extra Grubby eyes to swap. I think he's a lot prettier now =3

(I put "one-of-a-kind" in quotes because I know a lot of people who have done the same to their Teddies xD)

  • wait... is this from the series? or something else?

(PLEASE DON'T SPAM MY COMMENT!! I NEVER HEAD THIS SONG BEFORE)

  • Sort of. The entire tape is singing with no plot, and none of the songs appear in the cartoon, so I'm not sure where it falls in the series timeline. My guess would be that all this happens near the last third of the series, when Teddy discovers the submarine (in the cartoon) and celebrates his Birthday with the surf grunges (again, in the cartoon). I could be wrong, though. *shrug*

  • Oh! ok

  • well I've never watched Teddy Ruxpin so eh, *shrugs too* but I loove Grubby!!! hes sooooooo cute! =D

  • LOL, how cuuute!

  • am i trippin

  • would this work with any tapes? try it with beastie boys. i need a better tape player!! idea....to the ebay!!! zooooom

  • Do you have "Come and Discover the World With me? and "YOur Friend?" I would love to see them sing that.. Better yet.. Can you record them reading "The Airship?" I am waitng on my New Teddy Ruxpin and would love to hear the original Airship story...

  • put a metal tape with a bunch of rap songs on it like 2pac or 50 cent in this TR.

  • are these the original cassette tape Teddy ruxpins? what would happen if you put a regular tape in him one with rap or metal music on it, id like to see TR singing poker face by lady gaga.

  • Teddy's got this deal in the cassette player so (unfortunately) he doesn't do anything but play a regular cassette when it's put in. I wish he moved his mouth to words on other tapes, tho xD

  • i dont care, as long as i can play music thru him and he raps to 50 cent or something hey 2pac lol. but a long time ago i had this toy cassette player my cuz gave me and it has a small bear mounted on it and if you play a tape in it he looks like hes sinnging I wish i had that today but back then i took things apart. but it would be funny if i put a cassette adaptor in it and played a 2pac song and the little bear raps to the song.

  • i hate this put some good tapes in man lol

  • Oops! I almost forgot! I also have a request. I would like to hear "Medicine Wagon" if you have that song (or if they had that song in the books beacause, I remember hearing that song in the cartoon) Thanks.

  • hehe, this is cute. i used to have a teddy ruxpin, and i still have one of the books where they go to paint a tree, which changes colors. i didn't have grubby though. but at least i knew what he looked like, cause we used to have a teddy ruxpin coloring book (didn't know he was grubby until they mentioned his name). i don't know what happened to the tapes though. :'(

the songs are so cool! and catchy too. ^.^

  • put up the rest of this tape please please please

  • How about, the octopede song....

"I'm an octopede, we're and octopede, you can be an octopede too!"

How I remember that is beyond me. That was over 20 years ago.

  • Thank you soooo much for posting this! I got Teddy and Grubby for christmas 1986 and later got the Wooly Whatsit and fob toys as well! So many memories brought back by this video!!! Thanks again!!

  • You're welcome! =D

  • do the rest of the songs from Grunge Music please!

  • i go these two. but haven't put batteries yet to find they move like this lol.

  • I have a request, I would love to hear and see, "Will you go to sleep before I do" If you have it that is. I love Teddy Ruxpin!

  • It's funny you would request that particular song, it's one of my top favorite Teddy songs, and it is already on my list of videos to do next =)

  • That's wonderful!

  • I had a teddy ruxpin and grubby when i was a kid. they were awesome

  • I didnt' realize grunge music was actually crappy early 80s disco! lol

  • Grunge music is one of my favorite TR tapes =3

  • This song rocks!

  • so eery....

  • This is terrifying...yet strangely alluring.

  • my name is candice renee harmon i like this song so much do the grunge and other one is sulf grongo and i like both.

  • i remember the song tho and its been a good while and i had alot of the books and tapes tho

  • Can you put any tape in teddy and he will attempt to say it?

  • Sadly no, if you just put in a regular tape his mouth won't move. Only the real Teddy Ruxpin tapes will work.

  • I thought that Teddy Ruxpin didn't even play standard tapes, I'm told there's a system in place that prevents the toy from playing regular tapes. And of course, even if it were able to play regular tapes you'd only hear one channel of audio, the left channel, the right channel is used for the control/data track you see, but I'm sure you know that without me telling you.

  • @Lachlant1984 the first teddy ruxpin did not even use standard tape it used 8 track tape i still have mine from 1986

  • Actually that's the second generation Teddy, made around 1986-87. He's smaller than the original, which is usually marked 1985. He wasn't made for very long, though, since if you unwound the tape on accident it was ruined. Playskool also made those Teddies but they had the same problem with the tapes, and the company went bankrupt soon after they realized people wouldn't buy them.

  • According to what I've read, the Playskool version of Teddy Ruxpin was around for quite a long time, as you say it would seem that the tapes broke very easily, I also understand the system that drove the mouth and eyes was also very prone to having problems, the Playskool Teddy Ruxpin didn't even have a volume control, I think that's stupid.

  • Are you sure about that? I know Playskool made a version of Teddy Ruxpin that used proprietory cartridges, but that was after Worlds Of Wonder folded as I understand it. The model that used cartridges I believe came out in the very early 90's. I would like someone who knows all about Teddy Ruxpin to record a video discribing all the different models and talking about the history of the toy.

  • @Lachlant1984 i got my guy in 88 so i think blue is right

  • Now I see I'm wrong. My best mate brought his Teddy Ruxpin to my house yesterday, I put my James Reyne cassette in it and it played without any problems, the audio quality wasn't to good, but that's not the point, the cassette played, of course Teddy's eyes and mouth didn't move, but I expected that.

  • I love this song! DO THE GRUNGE!

  • I loved the Grunge song!!! I remember Teddy Ruxpin always used to sing me to sleep with his lulliby songs...I loved that tape..I also had Grubby but he and Teddy Ruxpin kept messing up..eventually my Teddy Ruxpin ended up dying twice and I couldn't use him anymore..I wonder if they still have him?

  • After WoW went bankrupt, all the toys they still had in stock were thrown away. Fortunately, I had a family friend that lived near the factory in California, and when she heard they were throwing away all the unsold toys, she went dumpster diving and rescued probably a hundred or more of them. I got a Mother Goose, Teddy, and Grubby from her, and she sold the rest, making a TON of money.

They probably did the same at Grundo Hospital, but I'm not sure.

  • put up the rest of this tape up. That would be great for the memories!

  • anybody got a "Slayer" tape

  • Nice camera work! :D

  • Thanks! It only took me all day long to film from every angle AND get the sound right XD

  • i like the song in this gruge music is slufing one

  • i know those guys

  • haha, I remember those guys... I had both, except i poked their eyes out

  • I bet if they can make a remastered DVD box set, they should have a sing a long subtitles so everyone can sing like on the show. Also, compitable to Teddy Ruxpin and Grubby toys, too. That will be awesome. I LOVE YOU, TEDDY! YOU ALWAYS BE MY FRIEND!

  • weird, but funny :D

  • I rember got the that book & tape. Grunge Music.

  • So Cute! & Its so cool that they like talk together :D

my fave part: "if your looking for some fun do the Grunge!" lol idk why it just hit me :D nice vid!

  • DO IT. no , DO IT.

  • They sure love to blink .. o.o

  • Great put up the rest of this tape please!
