  • @delticola oh ok

  • @Delticola how does that happen

  • @9800eddie1 In this case the government took my turtle collection and threw the live turtles in some concrete containers which scratched their shells to the point that they became infected.

  • How does that happen

  • :,( poor turtle but its worth it

  • Aww can't you afford a better way to cure it? That's gotta frickin hurt :(

  • @katlova4427 You must have had your sound turned down. The government killed 365 turtles and returned 128 sick and dieing turtles to me on the day of this video. There's nothing to afford, there's no veterinarian in the nation with any more skills, abilities or equipment to do any better. It's not about affording a better treatment, there is not a better treatment.

  • Who want's to help me count the dumb asses that think hes hurting the turtles :DD ? Anyone? Anyone?

  • Ouch that's gotta hurt

  • I mean no insult but maybe you should simplify your title, people tend to narrow out the words "kills" and "turtles".

  • @Only4MyselfxO Yes, you are right, that seems to be the problem. But mainly it's a problem with people that don't have English as their native spoken language and it's a problem when people don't read and listen. This video is the effect of the cause. The cause was the Georgia DNR and this video is the effect of their action, a destroyed animal poorly cared for by the government, the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources.

  • Can tortoises get shell rot?

  • @juanbau172 I've never really kept any tortoises. I don't know if there is a species of bacteria that eats a tortoises shell or not. This species of bacteria I think is dependent on an aquatic environment. Very good question.

  • Do you morons realize he is saving these turtles? Actually watch the fucking video.

  • @ddr122 I couldn't have said it better myself, thanks for saying it. Good looking out. Steve

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG they killed turtle. You BASTERDS

  • if anyone wants to see another example on shell rot check out my vid of my red eared slider he has it preety bad :(

  • I don't like to make judgment before I get the facts. I apologize if this has already been asked. Realistically speaking, how painful is this to the turtles? I know this might be hard to answer but is this as bad as you cutting off a layer of skin for a human? Would there be anything you could do for their pain?

Another question I have is how did these turtle get this infection and what did you lose them in the first place? (if you don't mind me asking that is)

  • man I almost feel for the turtle.. his squirming just looks too painful to watch..

  • I understand that your saving it but.. couldn't you have just brought him to a vet?

  • @Headrush54 vet will probably do the same thing, the man is as good as a vet in that situation.. obviously more anethesia was needed, but then again too much can actually kill it.

  • >>>> Mountain-stream Scotch and Turtle Sandwiches

  • @VIPmickeymouse111 What are you talking about? We don't need this whole kit-n-kaboodle. Is he hadn't did what he did, the turtle would have gotten septicemia, you know what that is?!!?!? Huh??!?!?

The turtle might have already had it, but not badly.

  • For all the haters... read the description first -_-

keep it up man. It's never easy to hurt to save.

  • HES HELPING THEM YOU RETARDS

  • why do you harm them what did they do to you huh if they did this to you enjoy it no you are making an immortal sin which will never be forgiven you murder

  • @VIPmickeymouse111 I thought folks in the Netherlands were educated people, I thought that English as a second language was taught in schools. What happened? You skipped school? You failed English. Don't comment on videos of serious nature if you don't understand the language. You just look like an idot and you add nothing of value to this beautiful world. Good luck in your quest for education.

  • You are a idiot if you say that your hurting it. He is saving it thx for saving it you are a good man

  • Ok if you say oh it's hurting the turtle you idiot

  • thx for helping that turtle.

  • Such an amaizing job thanks for this video It will come handy one day... Fortunatley never had this problem with mine but who knows... fingers crossed it will never happen....

Thanks again and looking forward for next one!!!1

  • thats just like cancer, leave it and die or cut it out and live..

  • People if he wouldn't do that the bacteria would spread . It would hurt them more then and they would die

  • My turtle had shell rot; I bought some calcium supplements and she has been doing great ever since. That was 5 years ago I have now had her for 10 years!!

Thanks for saving these cool animals!

  • my godness poor turtle.. :(

  • Comment removed

  • people need to learn and listen, he is SAVING the turtle.

    -.-

  • Either take it out and save the turtle or leave it and have it die a slow painful death.

  • @TheSpartan961 Thank you, finally a comment from someone that makes sense. I had to delete about 4 comments in a row from some idiots that make comments without understanding English. Yep, slow painful death, mainly from infection, just getting sicker and sicker.

  • @Delticola my turtle is lost in my back yar and 3 month later I found it and my turtle has some white bacteria on his shell is that a turtle rot

now i put it in a different tank with my other turtles

  • @pitcher84934 Could not guess without seeing it. The rot goes deep into the bone. Fungus is just under the scute. You mention bacteria, but Fungus is not bacteria. Also could be bites from a predator? Dog, racoon? Worn off scutes? Can't tell without more info or photos.

  • @Delticola how did that turtle do

  • @SvddenDeth The turtle survived.

  • but that hurt to them co~o!

  • wait what are you doing? the shell is rotting?

  • Fucker , are you crazy ? or mad ? the turtle are inoccent as whut all says ?

if you're the turtle , i kill you how you feel /? pain ? huh >? idiot THINK FIRST DOG .

  • @ThePandQclub read the description first. he's saving it actually. its infected with

shell rot. read first then comment..

  • POOR TURTLE

  • u are a good person ......u helped them before the georgia dnr did

  • @ReptilesRule23 Thanks for your support.

  • Watch this: (Fucking sick Chinese people): Mutilated Turtle ALIVE and for sale at Chinese Supermarket in California

  • your sick

    thats torture

  • @ajlebee Your right, I am sick, very sick. I cared for 524 turtles, that reproduced, some turtles were second generation captive born and then the Georgia DNR, state of Georgia and the USFWS took these turtles from my home because corrupt Game Wardens wanted to sell my turtle collection in an undercover 2 year sting. And when I sued them they couldn't sell my turtles and never cared properly for them and killed 365. So am I sick, sick in the head. Thanks for noticing.

  • @ajlebee AND ONE OTHER THING: TORTURE IS WHAT THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IS RESPONSIBLE FOR. NOT DOING WHAT I DID WOULD HAVE BEEN ANIMAL CRUELTY. NOT TREATING THE ANIMAL WOULD HAVE BEEN TORTURE AND ANIMAL CRUELTY AND SUBJECT TO CRIMINAL CHARGES. THE DNR PERSONEL RESPONSIBLE FOR CARING FOR THESE TURTLES SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED CRIMINALLY.

  • @ajlebee he must be so sick of dumb people like you! what would of you don sat there and watch it die you twit got on Delticola he saves turtle not siting there make dumb comments!!!

  • a week or until it is gone, and let him swim for about a hour a day, and all should be good.

  • caution to all, unless the shell rot is far enough along that it is soft and mushy and deep into the shell like this one is. DO NOT USE A KNIFE! If you can catch it soon enough to where it is just white flakey and is not red or deep, use stiff plastic but nothing sharp or overly pointy, you can seriously hut the turtle this way if you dont know what you'r doing! brush/scrape it off and use clorahexadine or iodine and leave it on no longer than a hour rinse it off, and 'dry dock' him do this for

  • @Inokodeyuu You have a very good point, and that is that when the shell rot is less severe that it can be cured much easier without so much cutting. But even a sharp knife can be used gently and effectively, it's important to get it all out and if you can get it out with other instruments and some anti bacterial chemicals then maybe that's all that's needed for the minor examples of this problem. As you can see this was severe, no fault of mine, the Georgia DNR/ USFWS caused this.128 like this

  • @Delticola Yes, I did see that it was severe and would require a knife. and yes I saw that they killed nearly 400 of your turtles, and left the rest like this. its a terrible thing, when the government decides to take animals, and yet does nothing to educate themselves on their care.

  • Saying the person who ever make the turtle injured

  • Sad that you would know more to care for this animal than USFWS. If I had an animal, I would do the same and try something to treat it. Vets don't normally know how to treat tarantulas so I've had to do the research for myself.

  • eeeeeeww sorry i just HATE the-- *vomits* the turtle being cut with-- *covers mouth* the thing

  • awwwwwwwww poor thing

nice guy :) thumbs up for you mr guy

  • Nice. Help him. :)

  • Good job!!!.. Don't worry turtle, you're going to be safe.. :)

  • Even though it would save the turtles life I could never hurt one!

  • @JORDANSPARXX You did this to your turtle? Why didn't you take the animal to a vet?

  • @FarfettilLejl Again, you're one of the many people that didn't actually listen to the video and didn't look at the back ground information. First of all, most vets have no idea how to treat Reptiles, you really need one that has some experience with Reptiles or you waste your money. I never knew any that didn't request payment for their services. And also, there were 128 turtles that I treated that day that the Georgia Dept. of Natural Rescouses DID NOT TREAT. Do the math!

  • @Delticola I didn't write the question to you but to JORDANSPRAXX (who btw deleted his profile). I think treatment of one ill turtle by a vet wouldn't have been a huge financial burden for him. I do understand that the number of animals you had to treat was too big to pay for their treatment.

  • @FarfettilLejl Ah, you're right, hard to follow, you did not write responding to me you responded to the other guy. Thanks for clarifying and thanks for your support. Steve

  • Guys hes not stupid. Hes just trying to save turtles. I mean yeah the turtle might be going through some pain but whats worst pain or dieing? Hes a good dude

  • @Crin9 Thanks Crin9, appreciate it.

  • If you have OCD, this is awesome to watch. Will the turtle's shell make a full recovery, or will it have those dents in it shell it's whole life?

  • @Herp234 The turtle will make a full recovery, there will be some scarred shell for some years but as the turtle grows the scarring becomes much less noticeable and it looks normal after a few years. THanks for the comment.

  • This bacteria is a killer bacteria

  • The bacteria

  • Wow kill

  • stupid man

  • Wow, I couldn't imagine doing this to my map turtle

  • @aliciacb8284747274 You probably keep yours healthy and you likely don't have any problem. The Georgia DNR however acted ignorantly and did not provide adequate care for turtles they illegally confiscated, the result was they killed most of what they took.

  • he's saving the turlte people so chill

  • Comment removed

  • @matthew22ibrahim22 Why did you decide to remove your comment? Why did you leave such a comment and what possessed you to remove it?

  • @Delticola because than i have see the video and i remove the comment because i was wrong sorry

  • you asshole!!

  • @achtermann01 You live in Germany and you failed your English classes, you cannot properly read or write in english and you certainly cannot comprehend it. Listen to the information and look at the background information. And if you cannot understand English, get some help before you comment and make your self look stupid.

  • Is it legal to own some species of map turtle in georgia? I read somewhere on a turtle forum that there was a case saying some map turtles are legal.

  • @NerdFlavoredCondom Actually it's legal to own all map turtle in Georgia, pursuant to GA. Code 27-3-132 (b) however the GA DNR thinks that they created a lawful regulation prohibiting owning any protected species without a permit. Interestingly 27-3-132 gave them authority to create regulation only for capturing, killing, or selling protected species and that statute specifically instructed the DNR that they could not affect PROPERTY RIGHTS in their regulations.

  • @NerdFlavoredCondom The bottom line is that we haven't actually had a legal (Court) ruling on this issue. It will come in time of coarse. I only have one more out of five legal cases that I'm dealing with. There are 3 species of map turtle in the wild in Georgia. Common Map, Alabama Map, and Barbours Map which Georgia does "protected" from capture in the wild. But all other species of map turtle are only from outside of Georgia and Georgia has no legal interest in the other species.

  • I have a red ear slider what are some good things to feed him to keep him on a healthy diet?

  • @jgballer003 The best food I like is Purina Aquamax 600. 600 is the larger pellet size. It's a really well balanced diet for fish on fish farms and peoples ponds. It doesn't have as much fat content at catfish chow, so it's better. Additionally, earth worms, crayfish, crickets, garden vegetable greens (not lettuce) spinach or what ever else it will eat. Reptomin is excellent but really expensive, you can find a large bag of it online for about $20.00.

  • What does that mean if there shell is peeling a little bit?

  • @jgballer003 Shell peeling a little bit should just be annual shedding. However, good healthy shedding involves an entire scute, not parts of the scute. To get good healthy shedding you need a good consistent diet, good areas to bask, good light sources or natural light. You can see an example at 1:20 of some "good natural shedding of the scute." Basically nothing to worry about, don't peel it off yourself unless it's a whole scute ready to shed. Thanks for your question.

  • finish up with some garlic it will kill the bacteria,

  • @JORDANSPARXX And thanks for your comment. Glad I was able to help with your situation. Just watch for the new growth and be sure no colonies of bacteria remain, if they do just keep cutting them out. You can use Hydrogen peroxide, betadine, neosporine, tea tree oil, etc. I would say tea tree oil actually is the best of anything.

  • my turtle has it

  • poor thing

  • I was flinching eevrytime he touched the turtle with the knife and the poor thing poked his legs out...OUCH

  • @SlumberCloud Ah, yes, but the turtle is happy and healthy right now, and alive. Most important is that it's alive.

  • @Delticola I would imagine it feels like getting a cavaity filled without pain killer

  • Ouch thats not good dude it hurts just looking at it...no offence but Delticola but i dont think its saving it but i guess it makes sence to do that...but i think a vet would be a better way to go...but u doin a good thing.

  • @theawesomeness9911 I guess you missed the part where the Georgia DNR killed the rest of the turtles.

  • ive seen other videos people just get medecine not this shit

  • @rafalldownthestairs Unfortunately you really don't know what your talking about. Contact those people and find out how effective the medicine. For one thing, the medicine doesn't penetrate the scute of the shell. For another thing the huge level of infection inside the bone is extream and anything short of chemotherapy won't kill the infection, it will spread and eat and spread. So you really don't know what you're talking about. Sorry.

  • @Delticola im sure theres an alrernative and atleast some sort of anesthesia

  • @rafalldownthestairs Sure you can take each turtle to a vet who can experiment with the proper dose of anesthesia. And you would have to find a vet that even knew how to remove this by cutting it out and you can go to 1000 vets and none of them would have this experience. And then what about the expense? The Georgia DNR did not care to go to any expense to treat the turtles, they hired a vet that euthanized over 30 turtles, I believe they put them in a freezer. Repeat, you don't know.

  • @rafalldownthestairs I have contacted a veterinarian to review this video and give me a quote for treating 128 turtles. I also asked him to comment about the nerve network in the bone of the shell. I don't think the nerve network in the shell is very developed. But we'll see if we get a comment and a quote. Either way I was already $100,000 in legal debt from a bogus criminal prosecution that I won. So you and anyone else can be as critical as you want, I saved these turtles.

  • @Delticola Dont listen to the man you did a good thing

  • How bad does that hurt why didnt you give it any pain killers this must be like getting stabbed

  • @rafalldownthestairs There were 128 diseased turtles given back to me. Another 365 killed. Where do you buy turtle painkillers? I sure would like to know. And then how do you get the turtle to swallow turtle painkillers? And finally how many glasses of water? If you don't like it, report me to to Georgia DNR department of Law Enforcement and mention that I was conducting wildlife rehabilitation without a permit and that I should be prosecuted, refer them to this video criminal evidence.

  • Good man, i wish there were more people like you in this world.. i am a animal science graduate. this makes me happy to see. :)

  • @Livingreciever Thanks for your comment, it means a lot to me. It's so strange some of the comments people leave like the one below, it's like people are deaf and cannot read, but it seems you were able to understand. Again thanks.

  • @Delticola Yeah man :) ignore we call them "Trolls" they do it mainly for attention/get you angry. I have learnt to filter trolls out of all online content :) Keep up the good work! :D

  • this ediot might as well kill the darn turtle. It would be better off.

  • @spectator2009 Yes, the turtles would have been better off if the Georgia DNR never would have been involved. And I like the way you spell "ediot." You must be French Canadian with english as your second language. Killing the turtles was the Georgia DNR answer to curing this bacterial infection. Just for the record, after this video, this turtle survived. In two months without this treatment it would have been dead. Thanks for your comment.

  • You only leave the betadine on there for a little bit and then rinse it off then? How often do you reapply the betadine?

  • Just a question, Isn't it better to kill the turtle instead of making it suffer? because scratching the turtles bone is Extremely painful for them

  • @evilduck90 It's a matter of opinion I suppose. What is the value of life? Certainly it's a painful process but I'm not the one that caused this disease in these turtles. The Georgia DNR caused these turtles to be diseased, they were warned in Court documentation that this would happen and they didn't care. These were my turtles, the GA DNR killed 365 and I decided to try to save the remaining 128. I didn't want to KILL any. I have the knowledge and ability to treat instead of kill.

  • @evilduck90

Lol you would make an awesome conservation biologist... NOT!

  • i couldn't watch this video... i no that you are helping the turtle to survive but i just couldn't watch it

  • Why the fuck are people disliking this video!

This man is saving tutles!!! Be thankful towards this guy and grateful!!!

  • @xRaIDeNx69 Thank you very much. I think that people may be watching this video without really listening to the message or reading the additional info posted. Also, some of the people that are clicking DISLIKE are certainly in the Georgia DNR. Of coarse the Georgia DNR doesn't like this video, now at 14,068 Views.

  • fuck u motherfuckin cruel tutle killer piece of shit next time kill the turtle

  • @huntingatnewlevel Thanks for the passion in your comment. I will take it that you are directing that comment toward the Georgia DNR. Feel free to post another comment where you make it even more clear who should receive your message.

  • i just dont like why that man will have to hurt that little poor turtle he should not be doing that on video. i would not do that to my own turtle that's pain for the turtle i don't want to do that to my own turtle. that man should feel bad for himself

  • @jacobgirl09 You're absolutely correct and right. The man feels very bad about this turtle being in pain. Some very bad men in the government caused these turtles to get sick and caused them to get this disease and the bad men in the government did not have any reason to take these turtles from the man in the video. This man was taking care of them very well and they were not sick until the bad men got them. If the turtles don't get treated like in this video they will die.

  • Ok, I get it now. I have one map turtle myself, and I think they are really nice, probably nicer than red ear sliders. Wish I had the chance to breed them like you did.

  • If you're aware of the pain and the need for anesthetic, then why in hell didn't you use some? And, even if you kept your turtles legally, why do you have so many! Ever heard about disturbing the nature's balance?

  • @Kerifyn Thanks for your comment. One healthy adult female map turtle can lay 6-16 eggs each summer. Of the 524 map turtles I estimate 80-90% of them have been breed by me in my own back yard over the last 10 years. In 1988 I received most of my stock from a turtle farmer featured in the January 1986 National Geographic Magazine, and those were captive breed hatchlings from his wild caught collection. Some of my turtles were wild caught with licenses and or permits. But most were bred by me

  • @Delticola Most acuatic turtles are EXTREMLY difficult to keep in good conditions. Yet they sell them very cheap to anyone with 5 bucks, and most of this sales end up in Dead turtles. People need to stop buying these so they stop selling. I have a question, what is the reason for shell rot?

  • @memohavok In this case, the reason for the shell rot is that some corrupt government agent wanted to sell my turtles, I sued them, they couldn't sell my turtles during the law suit, so they were forced to keep them, but they never prepared to keep them on a long term basis, and they kept them in extreamly poor conditions without proper knowledge of the basic requirements to keep map turtles healthy and they started to become diseased. Concrete containers scratched the shells that got bacteria.

  • @Delticola Damn, i have a gopherus berlandieri in my backyard with concrete floor. I found it in my job in the city, so i keep it. I take good care of her anyway. Is there any problem with concrete floor on these type of turtles?!?

  • @memohavok Well, I see you live in Mexico, so I guess you don't have too much worry about USFWS Federal Agents comming to your home and raiding your home. If your concrete is really smooth then you might not have much of a problem. But I'd have to really see what we're talking about to give you a valid opinion. The concrete is especially bad for aquatic turtles because the shell rot is prolific in dirty water. I'm not familiar with shell rot in terrestrial turtle species.

  • @Delticola Yes, concrete is kind of smooth, there is only a few parts with some rough lines but turtle most of the time is not there. I checked the turtle after coming home yesterday and there where no marks or anything. I think this has to do with the turtle touching the floor with their plastron, at least my turtle walks really good and doesnt touch the floor with it. I guess acuatic turtles walk much lower.

  • @Kerifyn And now for your other comment. On the day of this video, the state/Georgia returned 128 turtles. They killed 365 and 128 still living were all diseased. I was fresh out of the over the counter anesthesia from the wallmart pharmacy. 128 turtles they returned were diseased. The painstaking work I did all weekend saved these turtles. I still have my lawsuit against the state over their actions. The vet the state used unnecessarily euthanized 30+ turtles!

  • @Delticola Is great what you are doing. I live in mexico, and i donno if you have ever seen these guys selling shit on the streets? Many times they sell only colored small chickens, but i have ever seen a few times that they sell this red ear turtles in small recipients. Also many people sell protected animals in mexican popular markets, most commonly the gopherus berlandieri. I HATE seeing that, and the mexican government does nothing to stop this, and they KNOW who is doing this.

  • yoyoyoyooyoy what makes that happend dude 4000 turtles dammmmmmjm

  • Muy bien hecho.

  • How do they get shell rot?

  • @Delticola

the man in the video has been arrested and will be in jail a long time

  • @TheGhosthorror No, he won't be in jail a long time, he was given the death penalty and executed already. He was Georgia's only prisoner on death row for possession of turtles. The world is now a better place, one less death row inmate.

  • Fuking Turtle Killer- i Hope u Go Under Surgary without Anastasia- Poor Turtle- Heck No-...

  • @EMROPRODUCTIONS that was the most immature comment I've read so far today, congratulations.

  • @EMROPRODUCTIONS I don't think you fully understand what's going on in the video. I don't think you understand who the real turtle killers are. Watch the video again and read some of the additional information. The question you need to resolve to understand this video is WHO is the cause of this problem? The person in the video (me) is only trying to solve the problem.

  • @EMROPRODUCTIONS He was helping the animal like he said dumb ass!

  • i need to treat it but i dont want her to feel any pain... do you have any tips???

  • @geckoguy121 Well a vet can actually put the turtle to sleep but you're talking about spending some money. You can show the vet this video and let them do the whole proceedure for you. You'd be looking at $300-$500 is my guess for the vet bill. Maybe more. Or you can use the experience of doing it yourself for an understanding of what you need to do in the future. If you learn how to do this you will never have one die from shell rot.

  • GRINGO HIJO TE TU PUTISIMA MADRE , VEN A MEXICO Y YO TE QUEMARE VIVO.

  • Wow. I feel really bad. Why would they take your turtles?! They are yours! And my little red ear sliders have shell rot also. They don't have the soft types though, they have the flakey hard type version. And I'm treating it with Hydrogen Peroxide and taking them off.

Do you suggest any cream or anything else that will help and should I just keep them out of the water and such?!

  • Hey, I have 16 turtles, and im not sure how to tell if one of them has shell rot or not, can you tell me how to tell a turtle has shell rot? Cuz i dont want to kill one.

  • @CoDinnocents It normally happens on the bottom of the shell (the plastron) it's a yellow spot at first. It's a little soft, you can dent it with your fingernail. The bone is rotted under the scute. The scute is the fingernail like covering. The bone just keeps rotting away. If it's not soft underneath then it is probably not shell rot. If you are unsure, watch it over a week or two and if it grow in size, you know it's rot. Fungus grows under the scute and is not deadly, it's white.

  • @Delticola Thanks, well it is shell rot. and im going to try what you did? Or is there an alternative?

  • @CoDinnocents Yes, there is an alternative. Wait about 4 to 6 months and you will no longer have to take care of that turtle. But you'll have to move him out to a new home in the garden because he will be stinking really badly and decomposing. But the turtle can rest in peace in the garden. Another alternative is you can go to a vet, they won't know what the heck to do. They may give you some antibiotics, they may give you some ointment..........same results, garden compost.

  • I had two box turtles once, does this affect them too?

My main concern is that the turlte may not want to be handled anymore after this, pet turtles that is. I know it would have to be done, but that turtle would probably never be the same.

  • @ThornUvDaath777 It can affect box turtles and tortoises as well, but not normally as often and it might be a different species of bacteria. It can occur in the wild. Usually in a clean environment, it won't happen to a box turtle. As far as the turtle not being the same..........seriously, if this stuff is not cut out the turtle for sure is not the same, it's dead. My turtles are not usually handled very much so they don't seem to change with this respect.

  • @Delticola

    Well, thanks for the info

  • sorry i watch whole wideo and now i see you are a good man and you are helping turtle

    i support you

  • you assholle DICK FACE TURTLE KILLER!

  • NICE TURTLE TORTURE
