I'm a girl who's not afraid of spiders. I try to rescue them and put them outside. I'm not so crazy as to be unperturbed by them if they were crawling on me or my food but in that case I'd just brush 'em off. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" Ergo, since flies are my enemy spiders are my friends which means I try to rescue them. Now bees/wasps/yellowjackets I get nervous about because they can sting me but I've had to rescue my mother from them so I'm not the type to run screaming from them.

I'm a girl, a young teenager, and when I see a spider in the house, I just stop and stare at it, trying to look at where the eyes are and stuff XD. I think spiders are interesting. I like looking at them, but I don't want them on me.

Sometimes I think they're rather cute when the spiders look at me. But when they're getting ready to jump on me, I just fling them off; reflexes, y'know.

yep that's me with a spider. nasty little things. I know they're good for keeping the insect population under control but i don't need them where i'm living. and the whole drowning with raid thing is just so that we can make sure they're good and dead (same with the toilet).

I don't mind bugs as long as they don't bother me... but if they are in the tub when I come to take a shower, I will promptly drown them and make them go down the drain. If they're to big to fit, I'll catch 'em and throw their furry legs outside. And I can't stand flies; they're stupid and they breed.

And I naturally hate bugs because I know that if I don't care of it (kill 'em, toss 'em outside, whatever), mom will complain... or do the scream. 0.o I'm a girl, and I don't scream... I yell.

Hey, wait a second. Am I unique to females? Bugs, snakes, critters that crawl, simply do *not* bother me, and in fact, I simply leave the spiders to catching insects and the like. RAID makes me ill, so I don't use it, but when flies are around, I won't hesitate to spray a botanically-based bug spray and use a No Pest Strop :o) Drown 'em with Raid? How about let 'em *work* at catching the flies that are so gross anyway? hehehe..... Besides, it was my *husband* who was deathly afraid of spiders..

@featherbirdlady I never use Raid. I do catch & release...more humane. Why be cruel to insects? Just put a cup or a coffee can over the bug/bee/moth...then slide a flat piece of cardboard underneath. Bring the container ouside and set them free! There is no need to hurt any lving creature. Some insects are quite beautiful...God made them with intricate designs and pretty colors and complex wings,etc. If you don't really have to kill them, why do it? I've even rescued a bat!

Sit down and don't move for the rest of your life...you might kill some ants...oh, and don't forget to check where you're sitting. God made every living creature; I get that and fully believe it. But I'm not going to drive myself crazy making sure I don't step on an insect. Insects aren't human. Remember, humans are treasured over all creation. Don't equate bugs and us.

I had a feeling my words would be misconstrued. It actually does break my heart to see animal cruelty. I'm not into dogfighting, not into animals starved by their owners, or anything of the sort.  My point is is that I don't take it to the level of PETA and do all but worship and exalt animals over humans. My view is, if I had to choose between ending the life of a human or an animal, I'll save the human's life first. Not anti-animal, but pro-human. That's the "freak" I am.

It's impossible to "torture" any form of insect or similar creature, as they don't feel pain.

Pain is sensed through cells known as nociceptors. Insects do not possess these cells, and therefore are unable able to sense pain.

Although bats can feel pain, insects cannot.

Moreover, insects are also unable to feel emotions, such as happiness, sadness, or anger. They are driven purely by instinct, reaction, and physical sensations (i.e. hunger, thirst, fatigue, etc.)
