for people who are too lazy to read the video description: this isn't an actual production of sweeney todd...it's just the drama club performing the song in a show called Songs From Shows You Cant Do In High School.

he never sang professional before and you here the difference between a professional musical singer and him.
i listened very carefully. thats why i noticed.
i mean.. i love depp. he's an awesome acter! but i think the singing part was not as good as the movie deserves. the other boy in the movie was singing better..
eh - not bad but I think this proves that some shows are not always a good idea on the high school level, and what the hell is the action on stage with the fight. Not really the story line of the show or the way the opening is done. I would have rathered solos within the group the way it is written.
the reason for the black was because we had people in the audience who needed to blend in with the darknees...it added a creepy factor to it and we get into costumes later...there are so many costume changes for this was a musical review called songs from shows you can't do in high school.
this song shouldnt be completely a chorus number.. it really takes from the song also considering that a lot of the vocals seemed to be ignored.. i was disappointed
their rhythm was my problem with it but there are some pretty talented sopranos in there. i actually did sweeney todd with my high school last year and was a soprano 1...not easy stuff.
I always wondered how bad the singing would be for this song in a high school, considering that about 95% of the cast girls in my own high school had BIG vocal breaks when they shifted registers, and almost all the "altos" were just sopranos who couldn't sing high.
AWFUL vocally

the lighting in this is shit
half of the time you can only see half the people on the stage
you cant just light some people and not the rest when its a chorus number.

My friend was in this, you'll be happy to know they kicked the ever lovin shit out of the lights director afterwards

I agree! Sweeney Todd is one of the hardest musicals to perform vocally! Stephen Sondheim writes very difficult and complicated material!

I thought this is very good considering the limitations. High school shows are hard to make good, and this looked pretty cool.

wow, that was Gay, where are the costumes, and why are they all dressed in black? whats wrong the director /costume make couldn't afford costumes
thEannoyingE 4 years ago
what the crap you taking about? i think it makes it seem even darker. maybe they get into real costumes after this song
youdontknowjack24 3 years ago
yeah maybe, well do they if they do send me that.

this appears to be a growing trend with some amature preformaces. Your voices really aren't mature enough so the vocals don't have enough bass

The same goes for this cast.
