This game was just perfect for me. It weeded out all the terrible players by like lvl 30 and if the game came natural to you it wasn't hard to find parties (They found you.) The music is what triggers those great memories though and Ronfaure is the go to song followed by Zi'tah.

Shame FFXI is so intense and party-based. It'd be a really great game if there were more opportunities to play as an individual. I just didn't have the time to come home from my 9-hour a day job to wait for 4 more hours to find a party. I loved the game, I just wish they'de make it more friendly to casual/new gamers. Sigh..

Aside from that, the music is absolutely astounding. I'd love to buy an orchestrated CD if they make such a thing..

Yeah, I know. I still read the wiki on occasion. the whole de-leveling thing is pretty sweet, actually. I only quit about 6 or 7 months ago. It's just too time-consuming. I'd on average spend 6-9 hours in-game at a time to actually get something done (missions, BCNM runs, LS events, etc). I just don't have that time. Though I do miss my chocobo babies.

It actually changed a lot. They added a lot of different things which make it possible to solo a lot, you can even solo while looking for a party and stuff =)

@theryuu22 I do agree with you, but at the same time I love the system, you meet and party with players right from the beginning, creating a true out of reality experience.

Also this is the only song on the soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu, and it is by far my favorite song in the game haha, funny how that works

@theryuu22 I think FF14 is gonna be more geared tword casual gamers im only assuming this from videos ive been watching. but yeh i feel your pain on FFXI waiting for 4 hour groups especially if your a DD and not a haler/tank and when you finnaly get that group together and the main tanks toes get cold and he has to go afk for an hour or 2 ill keep my fingers crossed for FF14.

Well with Wings of the Goddess out now the music in each city changes depending on if you're there in the Present or Past during the Great War, I usually hand out in Past San d'Oria the music there is better then the present in my honest opinion.

Ronfaure theme is great but gawd San D'Oria the bagpipes are shrill to the ears.

I haven't played far into WoW but I would think the subjob in FFXI adds much more versatility than you could achieve in WoW.

In terms of versatility maybe but in terms of abilities no chance the number of abilities that WoW classes get far surpass that of FFXI's jobs even with subjobs included. The only exception to this could be 2 mage classes such as rdm/blm but even then I'd still give it to WoW classes. Anyways, I wish WoW actually had music like FFXI because for me thats what MADE FFXI it just wouldn't have been the same game without it.

I agree about # of abilities but when I played a WoW mage, ice/fire choice didn't make a difference, it just dealt a set amt. of damage. There was no strategy involved in using elemental weaknesses. Plus, ONLY fire and ice spells? Lame!

Man, sure FF11 didn't have all that competitive PVP stuff like in Guild Wars or WoW, but no other game compares in terms of just exploring a vast world and with amazing music to boot. The atmosphere really made this game, I wanna go back and explore and find new allies to battle evil!!! :P

Awesome, Ronfaure is one of my favorite areas and I always get sour when I am chocoboing from holla to san d'oria because the chocobo music lasts until i dismount at the gates...i never want to enter the kingdom when I hear the first few notes of the ronfaure music...reminds me of lvl 1 without a clue /clap

If the song is too quiet, try turning up your sound (the volume adjustment next to the Taskbar, by the clock). The song is kind of quiet anyways. They do have a CD for it, It's called Tour De Japon. I have the Tour De Japon Album and I recommend it to all Final Fantasy Fans. Also, Rocking back and forth gives it more feeling (you see pianists do it all the time). small string instrument players do it often.
