shittiest cutting I have ever seen. Way too much acet, give it half a turn and light. Add oxy until you have neutral. Press cutting lever and set to neutral again. Give the piece a quick preheat, then start at one corner and heat until it is just about to puddle. Press lever and move as fast as you can without out running the cut. the piece should only glow where the cut satrted. The cut should be clean and dross free, with minimum roughness on the cut. Also get a new teacher, he is a knob.
hes doing it really slow. its supposed to be one quick clean pass. not going back and forth like that unless ur preheating the steel. but even then ur not cutting so.
dont start with sooooo much fuel lol and move slower and #1 rule get comfy if u stay all bound up u cant get 100% fluidity and smoothness to attain a perfect cut. but most importantly wear sleeves gloves full face shield
ok, in my class we get sent home immediately if we don't have ALL of the following: Jacket or sleeves. think carhart work pants (no jeans), steel toe boots, cutting goggles or face shield, GLOVES, safety glasses, and a hard hat. it seems like all these guys need are safety glasses....sometimes....if they feel like it. I'd hate to work with one of these guys in the real world
T shirt, shorts and trainers? In a training workshop? Where are your sleeves? I'm amazed you have the goggles on the right way round. Stick to media studies.
dude, if Osha say this shit they would fine yalls ass, no boots, dudes wearing shorts, just saftey glasses, dam we had osha come into our school today and they got pissed at us cuz we a dust on our welders! they should shut yall down, and he lit the torch with no glove on god you people likdisgrace to the respectable schools around our county, sounds like a teacher is doin his job though, ,nice work good communication
it has its drawbacks, acetylene cutting can cut thicker metals a lot cheaper, to cut thicker metals with plasma you have to spend more money on the machine so it can cut it... with acetylene all you need is high gas pressure
For your info. Its better to have longer sleeves, but I would only recommend cotton. Eye protection is a must. And the tanks dont have to be that far back. Thats what a blowback valve is for.
If their is a flashback, or as some will call it, blowback, the valve keeps it from going into the tank, all you have to do is turn a little knob, and your all set.
I agree with u, In my class, we wore an apron and gloves. the kid in the blue shirt was moving the torch really fast, he didnt let the metal melt all they way, it shouldnt of taken him that long, BUT HE'S LEARNING so i'm not goin to be hard on this guy
it only hurts for a second, i've had molten slag pop and hit my in the face before, and it doesn't hurt for that long. i usually cut in a t-shirt, sneakers, and sunglasses... no big deal

Quick tip. Don't touch the metal after you brazzed it, it's still hot. I forgot, I guess my thumb sticks out like a sore thumb now.

They all need to be wearing cutting glasses and 100% cotton long sleeve shirts. gloves are a must if you are cutting with an acetylene torch.

how come they don't have their safety gear ON???
ewawi04 2 years ago
Actually when you press the lever at first only push it slightly to see if a reaction occurs... Then you know it's time to cut
dakkenly 2 years ago
wheres all the safety gear? not even a jacket...?

He should never point the striker like he did in 0:18, when it ignites, the flame may shoot back to his face. And nobody wants that lol

what kind of class is this that does not make the kids use proper safety
short sleeves?
he could be hurt so easy
should be dressed proper
also he should not take that long to cut that little part
he went back and forth so many times, should be done in one shot
i would not want my child taught by this guy
world most unsafe teacher ever
the kid's parent would not be happy if he got burnt by hot metal
i can't watch this
