Hey Ryan or anyone else reading this ?? I am a British photographer living here in brazil can anyone tell me what Gary is using in front of that flash unit on sec 00:27 ?? It looks like a softlite with a honey comb or somethig else ?? Is that it ? or am I tripping ? LOVE THAT LIGHT MATE. U THA MAN. eehee Would really like some help. Thanks pips.

I think it's a "honeycomb grid" 40 degrees and up.

Hello there Shashi. Cool ?? Thanks for the reply but could it be a softlite with a honey comb ?? because there is a round circle with no light in the centre of that honeycomb. What do you think ? Could that be it ?

For sure, If not the light will be too harsh. Since the strobe is close to the model it does give it a soft lit, yet dramatic look with well defined shadows.And I think its a DIY setup, you can see the tapes holding the grid. then again I could be wrong with everything I mentioned above :)

Fairly sure it's a Beauty Disk. The photographer mentions a high-key look. The beauty disk gives a high, flat and wide directional light.

When doing makeup it is a lot easier if the model has good skin and is young. No drugies because the drugs absorbe the makeup and you have to do too many touch-up for the camera.
