  • Not very accurate. I recently saw an old clip of Du Maurier where she was asked about this film version and she replied saying it was not accurate to the book. I'd agree of course having read it a couple of times.

  • Thank you for placing this movie-it flies under the radar, and is a wonderful example of the inspiration of Charles Dickens. O'Hara was Laughton's protege, and he had a good sense of her talents! I have always liked Newton-this is the young brilliant man before drink did for him.
