i love u right now u are giving me so much hope right i though i was the only one going though this ur a strong guy and er thing that happened to ur foot is happening to mine so if u are healing i know i will be able to:-)
Wonderful video Cari! I am amazed that even with your early setback you were still able to be back out running in 6 months! Like you, I have two dogs I run with regularly until I ruptured my achilles and underwent surgery on Dec. 29th. I will have my stiches out and placed in a walking boot tomorrow. At what point did you begin weighbearing with your boot.....did you have a rehab protocol?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with others going through the ATR process.
Great inspirational video. I ruptured my left achilles tendon 5 days ago. I see a major difference in how this condition is treated in US and UK. In the US they seem to prefer surgery where as in the UK (where I am) a conservative approach is taken. From what Ive read both seem to be just as effective. Anyway 6 months and being able to run is a long away for me. I would be glad to be walking without crutches when the time comes...
Hi Cari my name is Angel, i too ruptured my Achilles i am 4 week post surgery I'd like to say thanks for being an inspiration. 6 months and running that's amazing.Just few more words, please keep us (your Youtube community) updated on how you are doing.
@pressmantyson Thanks! I'll try to keep you guys posted more often. We just did a really big hike in Zion National Park and we have some video of "the Subway" hike that addresses my Achilles. I'll post as soon as Jon edits the video.
Good Luck with your recovery, It does get easier! Hang in there!
This is really inspirational for me. Im a physically active guy who tore his achilles and just had surgery two weeks ago. Im acutally feeling good, not a lot of pain, i think im healing quicker than most people because im 30 and in good shape. I was clapping you on as you ran that hill!
Nice work Cari! I ruptured my achilles back in November 2007, so I know how good it feels to get out and about. BTW, You said in your first vblog your muscles in the lower leg have gotten smaller (muscle atrophy) due to lack of movement. I'm still having trouble getting my size back in the leg. It would be interesting to know what kind of exercises your doing to build the size of your calf. Good luck with getting back to 100% recovery. Cheers, ton
@tempozan@tempozan I posted a video of what Cari has been doing for some of her workouts. She still has some atrophy in the calf, but it seems to be getting better as she is able to do more and more. She's been jogging and walking plenty and doing the above workout I posted... keeps getting better each week!
thanks! I think time is the biggest factor with this injury...
Cari, Congrats! 6mos is a significant milestone in the recovery from this injury and I bet if felt GREAT to get on the trail for a good run. And, I'm sure the dogs were enjoying themselves as well. :)
