What i love about bruce is hes playing like he never left. still dancing side to side and singing along to himself its amazing how they play the same they did 30 years ago - wish theyd reunite <3
If they could do just one tour together for all the fans who have supported them over the years it wouldn't be a sell out just a celebration of acheivement - The Jam were always a sum of all the parts
Get out your mats and pray to.........Mecca!!! hahaha!! Gawd i LOVE PW and The FOX!!! just got to force them to bring in buckster and let bygones be bygones before we all become bygones ...gettit??! I don't like the way Weller put on that strange inflection in his voice nowadays, it's like John Lydon when he sings the old Sex Pistols songs he sing's them in his PIL voice and it just sounds wrong.
Perhaps these old chaps can't sing like they used to. Bono seems to be able to manage it though...
@GazzaBloom The difference between 'these old chaps' and Bono, is that you can sit and play old Weller songs on the acoustic guitar and they stand up, but Bono songs don't...they need a band to flesh them out....they just don't stand up.These songs are folk songs. Definition of folk songs-playable anywhere on any instrument. They will last many hundreds of years, when all the power has run out and people sit in candle-lit hovels again, and sing songs of an evening. Bono's stuff will be lost.
@theonlyantony Did I refer to the quality of the songs? I'm referring to the vocal inflection in Weller's voice that's all. Bono still appears to be able to sing the old U2 songs with in the original style. I'm not saying U2 songs are better. I love Weller and just want to hear old Jam songs sung in the original style that's all.
I am old enough and lucky enough to have seen these men in their heyday. Weller is better with Foxton at his side. During gigs Wellers voice often gives out and Foxton picks it up...lovely melodies too.
I would give up my house, husband and kids to travel to any gig these 2 or even better if Buckler decides to bury the hatchet as well....
I've seen FROM THE JAM six times. Although this video is awesome. Please go and see from the JAM. We all know the legend of mr Foxton, and he still is truly great. You must see Russell Hastings front man of from the Jam. He really nails it. He is bloody fantastic. You will not believe how brilliant he is until you see for yourself. Hats off to mr Weller. I'm still a major fan after 35 years.
I have seen From the Jam several times but this would have been amazing, there is still hope for a Jam reunion and what a reunion that would be. Once a Mod always a Mod thats me a Mod till the end and at nearly 42 the Jam albums still come out and remind me of my youth. Gawd luv em :)
We all have a lot to be grateful for. I mean, how many of you guys reading this are 40 something and have been following Weller and The Jam/Style Council since you were at school. Has any other artist captured an audience with a life long devotion ? How many of you will still be listening to old Jam tracks in say 20 years, if the Good Lord spares us ? I know I will. Weller is the finest thing the UK has produced since the Mod movement.
I'm not sure you know what a mardy-arsed twat "Rick" is do you? This is the nearest we'll get to any Jam reunion! I wouldnt pay to see Buckler in the drummers seat again after his gobby exploits neither - thank god Weller would never have him. But Paul & Bruce+any other drummer, say Steve White - now that would be nice! But the main 2 are here! Rick who? Surprised he's not round Hewitts house spilling beans on Bruce by now.."well he said...& I said" No PW hasnt got your Fon No Rick!
@santfekuss I know what you mean, but people grow older, lose people, get a different perspective and I think Rick is a very good natured chap, (which isnt to say Paul Wellrer isnt) the chemistry of reunion worked for them, I would be reluctant to label it as selling out or that he stabbed Rick in the back
Saw the Jam 3 times, the style council twice and Weller 5 times including last week at Brighton. The Jam were and always be the best live band ever and have a big place in my heart. However they shouldn't get back together. Just leave it
@BigDave45100 Amen brother, saw The Ja, once, Style Council once, Weller 3 times, nothing compared to The Jam and though I feel bad for anyone who missed seeing them then I hope they never sell out and reunite like all those other crap reunion travestys....
became a mod in 81 because of the jam never seen them seen weller once seeing him tnite in belfast cant wait but thats not it he opened my mind to music luv him 2 bits
Wished i'd seen it live, seeing the man in november. What chance have you got against a tie and crest,it don't get any better...................................... WE ARE THE MODS.
Great post.........still the greatest truly English band ever!!.....They changed my life forever!...Great to see the two of them bury the hatchet after all these years!
@daithi1961 not any more no. foxton left apparently (and i cant stress the apparently enough) he had a row with buckler over foxton talkin to weller again.
@charliedearmound91 i didnt know that.it really is about time they put their differences aside. if its not weller then its buckler. they need to get a grip and accept that the three of them are the Jam. end of.

Weller: "Ladies and gentleman give it up for Bruce Foxton"
Foxton: "FREAK!...is it...etc"
Weller: "Get off now"
