I read Mario Puzo's The Sicilian. Does that count? It's sort of a work of fiction, but some parts are true. It was because of that book that I got interested in this in the first place.

Because the cops lied. They never killed him near Trapani, he was set up by his friend Gaspar Piccotti near Monreale. But he's compaing some mafia thug to a freedom fighter so he's full of shit too.
