Church a force for good in the world?

I consider Hitler better then the Catholic church ffs. They're sure as hell responsible for more suffering then Hitler could manage in 10 life times.

What's really appaling is the church's ban on condoms and contraceptions. Millions of lives could be saved if the use of those things was more allowed!

I used to be agnostic, but had a reasonably Christian influence on my upbringing (praying in public schools etc), so have at least dabbled in Christianity. I'm atheist now, what convinced me was what Stephen Fry just said in this debate, regarding Christianity's texts as a collection of eternal doctrines, which becomes debunked by how often they need to be changed with the times. Times and values change, and we know more now, we do not need religion to affirm our reason for being here.

@Froish Oh give us a break! The Inquisition was ONLY for Catholics!  Look up "Catholic Inquisition Myths Busted" on YouTube. The Crusades were a band of Mercenaries, hired to take back the lands they lost to the invading Islamic armies - who by the way killed thousands of CHRISTIANS! Next thing you're gonna tell me is the RCC killed 30 million people during the Middle Ages (even though the pop. of Europe was only 30 mill) like those idiotic Seventh Day Adventists claim!
