  • wow! seems SERIOUSLY cold there! pretty cool lil project u did there too!

  • Yeah, we finally got a break in the weather this weekend (SuperBowlSunday)--a few hours in the forties was long enough to get the sidewalk back. Still can't see the grass, yet. I can't wait for the Spring because as much as I like trying to learn the pole, I am really an outside person!

  • That is awesome!! lol I am glad its not that cold here

  • I've been thinking about the southwest for a long time. I really fell in love with New Mexico a few years back--although the desert nights can be quite chilly. I would really have to adjust to being a morning person to do my bike riding super early, and that wouldn't square to well with my late night music club interests, LOL!

  • We have the same thing going on my way-Brrr! I live for spring:) I don't mind the snow-it's the frigid temps and the sleet and freezing rain I could do without. I wonder how it would've been received if u had gone ahead and used a bra-or a pair of undies:)

  • Well, the frozen bra would have probably made a more interesting visual image--but my wife would have probably been pretty mad, LOL!

  • Wow, that's certainly cold! And to think I was complaining about our bathroom being 4C the other week... hope it's warmer inside than out!

  • THank goodness for brick houses. It's OK as long as you stay away from the walls. We just bunch pillows up against the wall in bed so we don't freeze--very important when you have a bald head like me! Laurie has those goofy kiddie pajamas with the footies. I made fun of her, now I wish I had a pair...

  • OMG Joel I am shivering just watching that video! I've been thinking about you guys up there since that's all we been hearing about the drop in temp that this last blast has give us. Although I have to say the snow does look beautiful, and so white it almost hurts your eyes to look at it. I saw a guy on TV where I don't know that was throwing up a hot cup of water into the air and it was falling ice, LOL. Stay warm and safe.

  • Jeez, I thought polemistress was only joking when she said you could actually do that hot water trick! It's just insane cold here!

  • ; ) Next time I do it I will try and video it for you. The kids love it! We just came out of 4 ½ weeks of absolutely killer cold weather -44c—48c with the wind-chill. Now finally we have a mild day 9 and the kids can go outdoors to play with out losing their fingers or toes. BTY, I was scraping ice off my INSIDE south facing corner bedroom wall on the 48 day. I had to full the furniture from the walls so ice would not build up.

  • wow i had forgotten how cold it gets in the winter over there!

  • BRrr--it's really cold. Minus 22 F this morning at 7AM. --Joel

  • in all my 38 years of life i have never experienced that much snow or those horribly cold temperatures....perhaps i should move over there :-(

  • I think something about the ocean is supposed to moderate temperatures in the UK--I guess it just gets wet, not so cold where you are. Actually, the snow can be fun for the first few days as long as it is not terribly cold. WHen the kids were younger, they loved to go sledding. Laurie bought snow shoes last weekend, I have yet to give them a try. Maybe someone has posted a tute on how to walk in them--they seem to throw a lot of snow up your back! Hope you stay warm!

  • aw I miss that! I just left the states earlier this week and arrived back in sydney... sweating my butt off yesterday. I'm nervous to go to pole tonight, I tend to really struggle in the hot weather... I sweat after a brief warm up and an hour class can often end in tears b/c i just can't grip the pole. And training with Bobbi tomorrow... eeh! i've gained weight and am a sweaty girl... not a fun way to impress the Master! It's quite miserable in the summer for me. I'd take the cold any day!

  • I'm definitely a summer person--although I do have that problem with getting overheated on the pole in hot weather. It seems to pump up the cardio in a way that bike riding does not. Hope your trip to the Unites States was a good one and that you were treated well when you were here.

  • For fun around here we toss a pot of boiling water into the air at about 40c and watch it freeze instantly and turn into ice vapor. Yup, we know how to party around these parts! The coldest I have seen it here is -58 with the wind chill.

  • oops meant to say -40c!

  • HA! That sounds like a tall tale, LOL!--but I am inclined to believe it because I was watching the CBC national (we get it on Broadband) the other day and the reporter was doing a standup in front of a street with cars going by, The sound of the tires over the snow sounded like broken glass crunching it was so brittle. On the flat plains of Sask prairies I imagine the wind just intensifies the cold--there is nothing to stop it! Stay warm up there!

  • Well, I guess you weren't kidding, LOL! Polerbaby said she saw somebody on television way up north do that ice trick with a glass of hot water. Jeez--that's just frightening!

  • sorry it posted twice...maybe it's the spring feeling in the air that is getting to me.

  • wow, when you say it gets cold, you mean it! I cannot even imagine sleeping outside on a night like tonight around here, let alone in bra freezing weather, haha!

  • It's just getting ridiculous it's so cold. I've never had a problem with the Honda, but it was groaning a real weird sound and almost didn't kick over at Lunchtime. So I went outside at the site I was working at and started the car every couple of hours so I wouldn't get stuck away from home! I ddi pole this evening after running the space heater for two hours first. Jamilla's DVD's came today--got the no handed pole sit within ten minutes of following her lessons. VERY DETAILED explanantions!

  • I'll never complain agian about it being cold here. We've had one snow and it lasted about 10 min and was gone. Brrrrr time to head to warmer pastures. This Texan likes it warm. (I like the freezing of the bra idea)

  • I've heard parts of the South are getting pretty cold. My sister is invited to a teacher's party in DC as part of the inauguration bash. She just called and said friends coming up from the Carolinas and Virginia don't have parkas and want to know if she has extra ones to stand outside for the parade. It's in the 20's in DC I guess and that is unusual there. People don't really have heavy coats--just windbreakers and jackets.

  • So hey, if Karol watches this video she is south near Charlotte/Concord and I think it is on the border between the two states, so maybe she will say how cold or warm it is there, LOL! My weather channell bubble on the screen just flipped over to minus 13 at 830 PM!

  • I live in the Texas Panhandle. Here is was almost 70 degrees 2 days ago and today was I think in the mid 40's. It's the wind. The wind always blows. Which is nice but we also have alot of dirt. YUCK but the summer nights are so pretty. No winter here is very pretty mild. I've never really seen anything too bad around here. Maybe about 2 feet or so once a year if that.

  • Hey Joel, I got one better for you. In nice, good old Ohio, our water is frozzen. Its the "best" part about living out in the country...

  • I was worried about that. In the old days, we'd just tip the little black stopper out of alignment at the bottom of the toilet to keep water running all night. Can't do that with the newfangled electronic low flow toilet, LOL! So I just leave the basement sink running a trickle all night. Hopefully that'll keep it moving! My wife has a pair of those little boy PJ's with the built in footsies--and covered in rocket ships and airplanes--silly looking but snuggly and warm-- they get the job done!
