The fat one makes a good point. But some films just kind of have it explained as a second thought, without putting much depth into what exactly happened. Like, Romero's first flick (I'm not sure if it's the original or the remake) where the news is on and they say it was radiation or something. It covered what happened, but did it as a second thought. I think the reason they do this is because most people think people don't want to know HOW it happened, they just want to see people survive/die.
