I showed AKC minis all over Michigan for my parent's kennel. I never saw a reverse chocolate and tan like her, if this her coloring even. Her eyes in the end photo tell all. Lovely.

Never listen to anyone unless your long haired dachshund approves of them. And always play classical music for them, whatever you find to be classical music.

Did Reecie always have fluffy looking fur on her legs or did it happen after she got spayed? 'cuz my mini longhaired dachshund got the exact same legs as reecie soon after she got spayed! Very cute lil doggie :)

@doxiegirl16 Thanks for writing. Reecie's hair was short when we first got her at 5 months old. It just takes a while for it to grow out. We never trimmed her except on the bottom of her paws.She is choc/tan/and some cream. I love her colors too:)

We've had our miniature double dapple dachshund a little over a year. She is a rescue and is the BEST dog I EVER owned! I had her a couple days and realized something was wrong... she had three hugh bladder stones causing her to urinate every thirty minutes! This is apparently why she was abused by the previous owners. Hopefully KARMA will have those people wearing Depends at an early age!! Thanks for sharing your Reecie with us! :) Just beautiful!!

She's gorgeous! Has she had any problems with her back? I'm very seriously looking at a 12 week old dashchund cross terrier (so it would be bigger than your dog by a reasonable amount) at our local pound. He's in desperate need of a new home at the exact time that we're looking to get another dog. Only thing is that I have a 9 year old labrador....is your dog okay with bigger dogs? Also, how is she outdoors?

Thanks! Reecie has not had any back problems. We watch her closely and don't let her go up or down stairs or furniture. Her parents did not have problems either, from what we were told. Reecie loves playing with other dogs when we take her to doggie daycare while on vacations. she loves outdoors for walks and playing in the backyard, but she is an indoor dog mostly. Good luck with your dogs. We love Reecie like a child. She is 4 now.

"Who can resist this?" Noone! What a beautiful and sweet doxie!! When you mention that she "is full of love" I know what you mean. Our family has a LH red mini named Bailey. Every morning he licks my daughters face to wake her up for school. He follows me around the house. Has to be near us at all times. We call him "Bailey the Love Bug". Wonderful breed of dog--loving, playful, loyal. :)

Getting a dog is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. We love taking her for walks. She loves to exercise. I think they would do okay in an apartment as long as you let them run around in the rooms, and take him/her for a walk regularly. Reecie loves to do her "figure 8 sprints" around the house. In general, long hairs have a more calm personality than short hairs. That is one of several reasons we got a long-hair. Plus, I think they are so beautiful!

@rarkid i have a long haired and a short haired daschund adn the shorthaired sheds ALOT more then my long haired. long haireds are supposed to have big coats so they dont shed a whole lot. with my short haired i pet her and get a handfull.

I love when they run! They are the cutest dogs when they run.... it just looks like it's against the laws of physics. And somehow, they are amazingly quick and agile, stopping on a dime, turning completely a different direction and running full speed in the opposite way.

I had one for 14 glorious years. Be careful with their backs by learning to pick them up from the floor correctly and do not allow them to jump up and down from the furniture or climb stairs excessively.

@mayito714 i read your comment on not letting a dachshund jump up and down off furniture alot, it kind of concerned me a bit to read that because my 2 year old delilah is up and down off the couch all of the time and my 7 month old hendrix is as well. my couch isnt very high but should i stop her from getting on it? will it cause some sort of issuse with her joints?

well our dog is a great jumper from early on. She is 9 years now and doesn´t have any issues whatsoever. She can jump pretty high for a dackel and has a strong back. But you are right that some dackel got bad genes or are degenerated so jumping should be avoided at all costs.

I knew the grief would be intense. I never had a dog live this long and to have to make the decision to have her put down was overwhelming, my first experience. She was so sick. I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie passing away. I can't imagine what it feels like and don't want to think about how I will feel whenever Reecie dies. She is my little baby girl. She is 3 now, and I hope to have many more happy years with her. I don't even know if I will get another one after her. I am glad you enjoyed watching the video and are thinking of getting another doxi. They are the best!

My Gracie just passed away last Sunday, she also was a long haired red and was almost 11 yrs old. I miss her so much, the grief is too much at times. I didn't think I was ready to get another one but after seeing this video (which I have viewed 10 times) I must. She is as cute as my lil dog was.

Reecie reminds me of my Crockett, a miniature long haired dachshund/long haired chihuahua mix. He was the most beautiful and smartest dog I have ever owned. I had him for 18 yrs before I put him down due to old age. What a cutie Reecie is!
