I always felt that collies were so full of personality. This is hilarious! My question - was he calling someone in the house to let him out? My rough collie won't do this, but he sure will howl on command. Adorable.
We're still not really sure. He would NEVER howl in front of people though! It was really funny; he'd almost seem embarrassed! He was really communicative in other ways though. With literally zero training, he would carry his leash on his back when he wanted to go out! He was also extremely fearless and protective of family. Definitely the smartest, most interesting dog we've ever owned.
He died of cancer a few years ago. I still miss him like crazy... Whenever I play this video for my golden retriever (who lived with the collie for a couple years before he died), he howls like crazy! It's so adorable, but kinda sad too.

I'm assuming he's still around? Such a majestic breed in my opinion, but of course I'm extremely biased. Ha! What a smart boy!
