  • i love this cover more than the stones original. go on hawkwind. :)

  • gawpwind?

  • The first song I ever heard from Hawkwind was Assault and Battery and Golden void put together. Ever since then I've been rockin to Hawkwind and still love it! These guys truly are masters of our universe

  • those photoshop? efforts are hmm well lets just say there is about to that are ok the others i wouldnt of showed

  • @panzermort Thanks for taking the time to comment. I wonder which two pics you liked.

  • This was a charity record. Was for a good cause. Unl;ike Keith and Mick's version. NUFF SAID

  • such a great song,such a great band!

    .....such a sucking video......

  • @myrielleful Well you can't please everyone. Thanks for the input.

  • Anyone know of a better titel for Hawkwind and Sam Fox for a charity record to benefit the homeless? Yes? Tell us. No? Then shut up. Or donate your salary to the homeless yourself.

  • Heard this version before I ever heard the original (yeah I'm young) and always preferred it. It's all pretty relative. Hawkwind rocks.

  • Obviously, it isn't Mick but it is very Hawkwind, Passable, listenable. Good for a change. Don't be hatin just because something is different from what you're used to. If it was an instrumental errbody would be 'oh, cool, a hawkwind instrumental!'

  • It's ok

  • This song was covered by Hawkwind to raise money for the homeless.

  • loved hawkwind since 1972 but this is an insult to a great track and an insult to the original hawkwind

  • @quarkyboy An insult in what way?

  • @quarkyboy I Agree.

  • @quarkyboy I agree Hawkwind shouldn't be doin'g that.

  • @quarkyboy Yeah, I've had this version on a cd since the mid 90s. It's very lacklustre and insipid, isn't it?. They shouldn't have even attempted it in 1991 in the first place even if it was for the homeless charity at the time.

  • @quarkyboy do you know when this was recorded and who made up the band at the time?

  • I mean, really, if this had been the original, nobody would ever have noticed it.

This sounds more like a weekend dj-band kinda music for people who have been sentenced to life imprisonment and this band wants to make them suffer more.

I wish I hadn't come to this link. Going back to Keef, Mick and Charlie.

  • @emilzd Sorry to waste your time. ;)

  • @emilzd Oh shut up.

  • i think that Thunder did the best version of this song, this is ok i suppose

  • Hawkwinds version of Gimme Shelter is a much MELLOWER tune than the Stones version. GREAT MUSIC !

  • mediocre cover of a great song...ridiculously mundane and can't carry Mick and Keith's garbage bags. I'll take the real song every single time. yawn...

  • @slimmjimm72 I didn't figure everyone would like it. You appear to be in the minority. Somewhere down the line I learned to appreciate covers.

  • @slimmjimm72 A brilliant cover. Hawkwind at their rocknroll best. That doesn't mean the Stones are not good, of course they are, but I just love this version. Covers with their own bent can be good in their own way. Never knew what this song was about until Hawkwind covered it! The stones are legends and Hawkwind are too. Rotten once said, no Hawkwind, no Sex Pistols, so one could argue that the Hawks kept rock going just for that little bit longer.

  • crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrazy !!! !wow na wow

  • Geht durch die Decke!

  • great song thanks

  • @hawkwindzzz You're welcome

  • I love this song, and I love Hawkwind, but I haveta say that I think the best version ever made was by Grand Funk Railroad off the "Survival" album. Man, that cut had balls.

  • @terresti I had a listen, I like this version more.

  • even better than the real thing!!!!!!!! how can i get this on my ipod?

  • @noelsplectrum9 The video or the song?

  • @Amosis55 the song please!!!

  • @noelsplectrum9 email me at amosis at mail dot com

  • facebook

  • Any chance of an upload and a link??

Ive been trying to get this for weeks now and I cant find anything...

It was released on ''Uncut 2002 vol.1'' but nothing.................

  • Fantastic ! A amazing psychedelisized cover of the greatest rock song of all time.

  • i wish connecticut would let them play here :~(

  • @ozricstormbringer I didn't even realize the band was still together, until I checked online. I'll go see them if they ever make to Toronto. Why won't Conneticut let them play there?

  • @Amosis55 nic i think it was got busted with plants on the bus

  • I`ve seen them 11 times in Rotterdam and once in Amsterdam,SUPER!!!!

Since my youth,i`m in love with there music.

  • Love this song... Marvellous vocals... I just love the timbre of the singers voice! (It was the drummer singing, right?)

  • @nisusCGA I don't really know who is singing. He does have a great voice though

  • @Amosis55

the singer is Rich Chadwick, Hawkwind drummer for 25 years or so :)

  • @inarut69 Thanks. Great voice.

  • I love this and will listen to it often, when friends

visit me and when i enter different realms of

conciensness as we are able to albeit risking our

freedom thro a granny state that wants to enslave

us to its whims.Take any substance not just the

really harmful ones that are "LEGAL"

  • @greenjerzi Puff Puff, Pass.

  • Rich Chadwick's first outing as vocallist too, I believe.

  • Pardon, this version of Hawkwind is very good, but your video ???

Theme missed look at the roots of this song

  • very cool

  • Reminds me of Wembley!

  • fuckin amazing

this remindes me of the oasis gig at the richo before oasis came on this began and i was fuckin loving it

    fuckin brilliant

i cant say which is better this or the original.this is more rocky and the original is more soulful

  • dont rip it off.

  • I discovered it before an Oasis gig too. Stellar song.

  • fuckin better than the rolling stones version and im a big rolling stones fan.

this just remindes me of the oasis gig at the richo

  • Love this song, better than the Stones one.

  • Yeah It's an awesome version..

  • really a great song. Discovered it at while Oasis was on their tour this year.

  • It is. Thanks for commenting.

  • yeh same here, the tour DJ plays it after i am the resurrection and just before 'fuckin in the bushes' , i prefer this cover to the original.

  • questa canzone è fantastica

  • Sì è.

  • This is great. Question. Do the women in the videos have any importance or are they just random pictures?

  • They are all online friends from different sites that I frequented. Most I still see once in a while

  • Wow this just a most stunning version.

  • I agree. Great band.

  • I thought the song was about war not the homeless. There is no relationship. I'm not that deep. ;-0 It's just background music that i like, with my images.

  • nice pictures but I fail to see the relationsship to the origin of the song:

    aid of the homeless.

By the way this : Sam Fox on vocals

  • Sam Fox does BACKING vocals. Richard Chadwyck is on VOX- a rare thing. The relationship is in the title.. Gimme Shelter.

  • Gimme shelter:

when in 1977 at the Blackheath Concert Halls Hawkwind raised thousands of pounds for the homeless, and even released a charity single version of the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" with Samantha Fox guesting on vocals ( not backing vocals)

  • the Hawkwind & Sam Fox cover was released on a mini CD by Food Records concerning a homless project called " Putting Our House in Order"
