  • It is thanks to Capitol Records that we have this marveleous performance. Their late 1940's / early 1950's "Capitol-Telefunken" series re-published many German Telefunken recordings for US distribution. The Prometheus selections by Mengelberg were never issued by Telefunken, but they were given brief publication here in the US on Capitol-Telefunken 78's, Lp's and 45's. I wonder what else recorded by Mengelberg languished in Telefunken's vaults? Is it still there...?
