  • You know when your tool retracts after making a cut and goes for the next cut you should put G00 right there and if is a roughing and finish cycle it should do it automatically I believe. In any of both cases put 100% on your Rapid. No Guts no Glory my friend. I hate seeing a machine cutting air. Is great for saving money on tooling but it slow down production. Good luck.

  • SPREW BUSHING , CUT SOUND GOOD NO CHATTER AT ALL. GOOD LATHE

  • SPREW BUSHING

  • I take .100" depth of cut 4140 and harder stuff all the time. That looks like a decent size machine, you could probably bump up your DOC too. Good camera work by the way!

  • at metal is that? looks like the RPM are to to fast for a hard metal Also the cutting tool is specil for that metal?

  • The steel is 4140, and it is a pretty aggressive cut for the material. The insert is just a standard coated carbide diamond shape with a .031 radius tip. for roughing and finishing.

  • What kind of surface footage were you running at? IPR? I would think you could take a deeper cut than just .05 with 4140. I'm used to cutting stainless steels like 316, 17-4, monel, and inconel. Even with inconel, roughing you can usually take about .05 per pass roughing as long as you don't have an undercut behind threads...

  • @TrailChaser thank you it looks like it works perfect

  • @jorasave its just a midgrade steel and the insert looks like a cnmg 432. The RPMs are a decent running speed but not too fast especially if the material isnt too heavy. and from the looks of it ( i cant tell length very well but considering the tl2 only has so much room behind the chuck for bar length it cant be too long) its not then its fine. as for the insert material its a titanium nitride coated tungsten carbide.

  • lol i have no idea what i'm looking at david

  • It's a part for heating/liquefying the plastic before it's shot into the mold.
