Bang Camaro's "so-long-for-a-while" concert is at the Paradise, a week from Friday. Not necessarily any of the same guys as in this band, but another Boston band that bent away from the 3-piece/4-piece standard rock band model, quite nicely. (In their case, 3-5 guitars, and 6-20 vocalists.)
Only on one of B.C.'s songs do you get that "floating IN the sound" feeling that you'd get with most C.E. songs, and at that, only just for a moment. I digress, so pardon me, and call it a "link"!
One amazing phase in Boston rock. Rich Gilbert and the Zulus led the pack. Such talent, power, precision, intensity, tenacity, creativity. With Consussion Ensemble, Rich and the others from around Boston rock did things no one has done since. Stunning. I have the one disc they released. Now... WHEN WILL THE ZULUS RETURN TO BOSTON?!
This shit was so compelling. Everytime I saw them, I'd find myself standing right up front. without even knowing it, it just pulled you in. A visceral, primal onslaught.
And Rich Gilbert rocked, full Bud bottles for a slide.
That's actually the Rocket in Providence RI. I was the house engineer there and mixed this show. Their usual sound engineer Carl was booked elsewhere that night. Was an amazing experience to mix that level of sonic power
They were one of the most creative things happening in Boston at the time, great trip down memory lane. Where was this filmed? I've got a copy of the only tape they mass produced but it's got nothing on what they really were live. God, I miss rock and roll...
featuring guitar slinger Rich Gilbert! thanks so much for posting this. I had a tape of this band but somebody threw it out the window of my car when we were chasing our friendss down the highway one day back in high school.

Awesome. My cousin was in this band, Terry Donahue. He's in Alloy Orchestra now. Still the innovative percussionist.

That's the Rat in Boston if memory serves me correctly.
Did get to see this act a few times back in the day. Fun stuff.
I miss the Zulu's. I wish someone had video to post.
