  • Funny how some folks state that people over a certain age don't know "how teenagers work".

Surprise: we do. We were teenagers too, and we have a working memory. Been there, done that (burnt the t-shirt).

  • these songs are bad. but they really don't bother me. for a comic strip the songs could be worse. it is kind of cool that this would come from a comic strip. the idea is cool. but i don't think these songs are really meant to be good either.

the whole point of these 2 songs that have been done so far is to further the relationship between her & as she calls him aussie boy i believe. if you remember neither of them really took it serious when they were doing it. they just did it for fun.

  • Funny enough probably what u expect of out a girl Luann's age with no talent.... :/ Anyway, the comic is cool... and Luann loves to troll you guys.

  • Rebecca Black's "Friday" is a much better representation of the average teenage girl than this or any of Greg Evans' sad attempts to not only make comic strips relevant to anyone under the age of 40, but to delve into the inner workings of the teenage girl's mind. No wonder "Luann" gets so much flak; Greg's lost his touch, if he even had it.

  • In the comic strip Luann says she wrote this when she was a lot younger. It was just for fun kind of thing. Can't you picture a little kid writing these songs and singing them later on just to pass time?

  • @jensbetter101 No, but i can picture a 40 year old who has no idea how teenagers work and trying to be "hip" writing it :D

  • uuuuugh...I couldn't listen to it all...I...just...could...NOT do it. It hit "11" on my annoy-o-meter. Only an enormous, hopelessly woebegone Luann fan could actually like this swill.

  • I'm sixteen, and I would probably write something like this. Don't underestimate a teenager's literary skills!

  • I can absolutely see a 12 year old writing this while they were avoiding everything else. How the two teenagers could write a song about is kinda off, but since they were flirting the whole time, it makes sense. it also makes sense that no one liked them youtube in the strip :)

  • The words in the song aren't important, as many popular songs have shown us. It's the music itself that grates on our nerves. But I suppose teen bands do make horrendous music...

  • Horrendous. No teenager talks like this. The characters in this strip are grating and annoying and the situations are ridiculous and utterly unrealistic.

  • @celticthistle619 Dude. It's a comic strip - not an attempt at your autobiography. Chill out. If you don't like it, don't read it and don't watch their videos.

  • @godozo In the comics, she supposedly wrote it when she was about 12 after she was mean to someone who she doesn't remember.

  • ROFL this song is soo me but my family "loves me anyway" XD

  • Don't think a teenage girl would write this...maybe a moody twenty-five year old, or some fifty year old wondering what the heck the guy is still doing in her life, but not some teenager.

  • no....? as a teenager i can say that this is NOT something a teenager would ever write. it is super lame!!! but it is representational of teenage mentality. it is just not something one would ever write.

  • nasty

  • Dear Greg Evans....STOP. DOING. THIS.

  • What makes this music seem so realistic is that it is supposed to be written by and supposed to be sung by a kind-hearted, well-intended, less-than-perfect teenage girl. As such, the voice chosen and the lyrics written are just about perfectly representational. Nice job.

And it has me wondering what Brad and Toni would sound like if they were singing,

  • For what it is, just a bit of fun playing off of the comic strip, it's entertaining.

Constructive criticism is cool. Name-calling and derision, just because you can, is pretty stupid.

  • As a song that Luann made with Quill in a bedroom, it is perfect.

As a song to listen to for no other reason, it was painful.

  • I've heard a lot worse...just sayin'

  • A good song but if all the photos would have been done by the artist it would have matched the sone closer. The photo at 0:11 is actually a little gross.

  • to be honest, i don't think it's that great, but i do kinda like it. and i think you should ignore all the bolsheviks every one else is putting and keep doing this if you really want to.

  • Totally believable as something Luann and Quill would put together.

  • Totally believable as something Luann and Quill would put together.

  • Wasn't this supposed to be a rap?

  • Hahaha you're a fucking idiot how does it feel to fail so publicly and then get mocked when you get defensive about your utter lack of talent.

  • looks like that one strip about how butthurt Greg is from youtube comments has got the die-hard Luann shut ins to swarm the youtube page. When they say 'i have a teenage daughter' they mean they kidnap and rape teenage girls because no one sane likes Luann

  • This was difficult to masturbate to.

  • For Pete's sakes you critics have NO sense of humor!! XP These are parodies of a specific genre of music that doe exist!! LOL Greg Evan's, keep it up! I find these really amusing! XD

  • I read the strip, figgered I'd have a listen...as the father of TWO teen daughters, this song makes perfect sense to me (as does the strip)...it is what it is, accept it as part of the strip and don't critique it too hard.

    y'all take yerselves too seriously

  • Musically, this song feels like a throwback. The instrumentation, harmonization on fourths and fifths, chromatic scale and rythmn are reminiscent of early 80's Frank Zappa-type songs (think "Valley Girl").

Lyrically, there is too much repetitiveness. I think it's a great description of teen girl moodiness, but it feels more like junior high than high school. My 9-year-old seems to like it. The song says everything it needs to say in the first verse and just restates it ad nauseum. I'm a big fa

  • @drfleau

It suspends belief when Luann and Quill, two characters established as somewhat popular, put out a video that in today's high school world would get you laughed out of school. Same as when he thought six girls having their own beauty contest at a fast food joint is anything but COMPLETELY INSANE.

The author doesn't try to get into teen's heads, he just vanilla coats everything with ridiculousness. Which is fine and all, but at soon at it branches into the real world it's just dumb.

  • Good visuals and I think it's a pretty accurate description of the sometimes chaotic workings of a teenage girl's mind

  • I studied child and teen psychology at a college level. All I meant was that the author wants to get in the mind of a teen girl and create songs from that standpoint. You cannot compare "Luann's" songs with the highly polished and formatted songs on prime-time radio. I think that the people who bitch and complain about how bad the songs are forgot what it was like to be a teen, and how as a teen, when you have an intense feeling, you think you're the first in the world to feel it.

  • @drfleau Someone who took a few undergrad courses in psych is hardly an expert in psychology, but it's only really irritating when they think they are and actually flaunt this. I went to medical school and still don't consider myself an expert in psychiatry.

  • u actually have a good voice..i like it...... but the song and video..... not so much.... sorry!

  • I- I can feel my ear cilia dying.

  • Wonder if he has permission to use all those pictures

  • @The0Hippy

Who cares? Relax and listen to the song.

  • this is terrible :) lol luv it

  • WORST than Rebecca Black!

  • Luann is definitly not the best of singer,, but then again: you can say that of a lot of popular artists... Who knows, practice makes perfect.....

  • KERRIGAN!!!! *shakes fist*

    at 1:03

  • "Mr. Evans knows how to use Google Image Search: The Movie"

  • Ehh its not terrible,it doses really fit well with the comic.

  • @culwin

Greg, did you create yet another account to defend your video? You really need to stop doing that!

  • Okaaaay. Kinda boring. Repetitive.

  • This is song is bad, but I still love Luanne anyway

  • I seriously think Luann and Quil should give on music!

  • My teen daughter says she's absolutely humiliated anyone would represent her generation this way, and that it could not be farther from reality. Greg, stop. Please. You're painting a Pleasantville picture that's so skewed and wrong, and you're doing a disservice to adolescents everywhere. To quote Mr. Stardust - 'And these children that you spit upon as they try to change their worlds are immune to your consultations; they're quite aware of what they're going through...'

  • @greencarousel it's just a comic and I doubt Greg is going to change format just because some teenage girl doens't like it. If your daughter is embarassed by it, tell her to go read a book instead.

  • @greencarousel My daughter, when still a teen, loved reading Luann. Yes, she KNEW Luann didn't reflect the metal, grunge fringe, Emo generation around her but still Luann reflects the insecurities and questioned esteem and social issues of many teen girls.

  • @UNMIRED Annoying, stupid, and you can't stay away even though the police said no; just like teenage girls! Hi yo! *golfswing*

  • Extra cheesy.

  • Great song! Teenagers today are no different than when I was a teenager 25 years ago. We all have complexes.

  • much better than the other one! nice job.

  • I loved this song! It ranks up there with Stairway to Heaven!

  • I have to shamefully admit that I kind of liked "Hey Boy." But this... this is inexcusable.

  • I keep waiting for Sir Mix-A-Lot to break in with Baby Got Back. Rule #1 of songwriting, don't just go with your first idea: Come up with several versions and pick the best one. Also, you can tell an adult wrote the lyrics. A good teacher on how to sound like a teenager is Mayhem in the Allstate commercials.

  • i love the use of kerrigan and lisa simpson

suddenly, blizzard and fox's stocks plummet

  • Do I hear Grammy? Ha! There's a much better chance that Aaron Hill will be coming back into the strip and revealing finally to Luanne that he's gay.

  • Wow, there sure are a lot of douchebags who go to the trouble to click through a series of links just to rip to shreds a silly song and video.

    WTF is wrong with people...

  • @culwin It was just one link my good sir or ma'am. Better question why does someone love a forgettable comic strip so much that they are willing to go to youtube to listen to a fake song from a comic character and then not only give a "like" but complain about trolls ripping this song apart ?

  • @bartov That is not a better question.

  • @culwin Frankly I'd disagree. One may tolerate Luann or possible like it but not to the degree to go listen to a song on Youtube. That kind of dedication is saved for iconic strips like Peanuts. In the grand scheme of things Luann is no where near as great as a Calvin and Hobbes or as laughable awful as Family Circus. It simply exist in the funny pages because it is inoffensive and bland enough that it doesn't get complaint letters to the editors.

  • @bartov Cry much, "bartov"? LOL

"someone likes Luann and I don't WAHHHH "

  • @culwin Nope I am just a dude that reads the Comic Curmudgeon, has a boring job, a smart phone, and a boss who does not care.

By the way are you Greg Evans?

  • @bartov In other words... Because YOU don't like something, no one else can, or should. Looks like the troll got his feelings hurt.

  • @TheMatthewAWilliams If you were to build a machine that could calculate the quality artwork, writing, and humor of comic strips it would rank Luann well above 9 Chickweed Lane but just below The Middletons. In the entire list of this hypothetical comic strip quality detecting machine in would be roughly 3/4's the way down the list of best to worst comic strips. I honestly believe comedy is not subjective.

  • @bartov And of course, you being an award winning artist, writer and humorist are the one best suited to determine the strata that these comics are based upon. Your opinion is just that, yours, and according TO those who actually make humor part of their living, humor is VERY subjective. No, not me. I don't have the hubris you do to try and quantify something I am not a part of. I know what I enjoy, but that doesn't mean someone else has to enjoy it, or can't enjoy what I don't like.

  • The people saying that this is how a teenage girl sings, I don't know who they have been listening to. With the amount of credit Luann gets for her singing (ex. her getting the lead in West Side Story, people's reactions to her "secret talent") she is expected by fans to sing decently. I graduated high school a year ago and trust me, even the average girl singer at this age sounds much better. Vocals are incredibly weak.

  • Wow, it ain't that bad.

  • Ugh.

  • it sounds like my eardrums are getting drilled

  • Better than "hey boy" :)

  • I've raised 4 teenage girls--this song is spot on!

  • It's kind of cute. Reminds me of PMS. :o)

  • someone figured out how to use imovie :D let's not let that person near the mac again. J/K anyone who puts themselves out there i can't dislike so i gotta say this is okay...

  • 148 people prefer Rebecca Black's "Friday"

  • Well the music is slightly (and only slightly) better than the other song. The vocal is incredibly weak. Please lady, get some help. There are lots of vocal coaches in the world.

(And people are really expected to pay money for this? That's a joke, right?)

  • Hey Boy was positive and catchy - but this one, I couldn't even finish listening to. Sorry, but I'm with Luann's mom... I hate it.

  • Send Quill back to Oz.

  • It's what a girl like Luann would be expected to sing at her age.

  • Is it that hard to find someone that can sing? This is horrid.

  • @nasusyelserp I KNOW!!! The song could be almost cute if someone decent were singing it!

  • @nasusyelserp I KNOW!!! The song could be almost cute if someone decent were singing it!

  • CUTE>>>

  • It's not kill myself horrible like Hey Boy but it still wasn't by any means good especially the lyrics. The worst part was the images used. I mean I complained about Hey Boy having a horny dog and I guess Greg was like "Don't like my awful images, eh? Well here you go!"

  • Lyrics: suck

    Beat: sucks more (Sorry Quill)

    Tune: Barf

    Overall grade: F-

  • I like it!

  • This little song hits the nail right on the head. Just about everyone I know was probably either a “Snot” at one time or another (as described in the song) or has had to deal with one … daughter, sister, grand-daughter, niece, friend, etc.

Those of us with daughters should really be able to relate to the song that Luann and Quill put together from Luann’s poem and Quill’s rap. It will be well worth your time to listen to this song.

  • well to be honest i t was well 'ohkay' the pics were kind of disturbing but the only decent thing was when she sung 'but you love me anyway'

  • I like it. :P Personally I like to see a cartoonist expand into something other than cartoons. Plus, I think this should be the pregnant woman's theme song... no offense to teens.

  • Well, I'd have to say Luann probably SOUNDS this way. Pretty likely and seems to fit.. Who sings this? I can see how her parents don't like this. ;p Any next offerings, I'd be more than happy to offer my guitar skills for free.

  • Definitely better than "Hey Boy!" That was kind of fun, actually.

There is a band called "Corinne Rose" from Seattle, (slightly different spelling); is this the same group?

  • I just added this to my favorites and thumbs DOWNed it. Interesting...

  • This is really great -- captures what it's like to be a teenage girl.

  • The other day I got my geezer card so now I am entitled to say what I want, where I want, when I want. Not that I couldn't before but now I have the gubmint imprimitur. That written, I have read Luann for hundreds of years and mostly enjoyed watching the kids grow up and the way threads go and come. As to this song, it has a good beat and as with many pop culture songs, the body of the song isn't a big deal but the catch phrase is and this song is all right. Way to go Luann and Quill .. and Greg

  • I can't wait until they make a live action Luann movie and get Owen Wilson to voice Luann.

  • To Chelly3985 - Bloom County's residents were in a band called DeathTongue (or something like that) and I recall a song or two of their's being included as a flexible vinyl record with a compilation volume.

  • Well I definitely wouldn't put these songs on my playlist to listen to over and over (yikes!), but these are awesome! Well of course these songs won't go platinum people, this is for a comic! And the comic is excellent! I love the idea behind this, it makes the comic kind of interactive. I'm not sure about this, but is there any other comic that's done this? Brilliant!

  • Hmm.. actuall the lyrics weren't too bad.

Sadly, the girl who sings this REALLY need to sing "deeper"! It's sounds like it's someone who actually knows how to sing, and has a good voice, but tries to sound young and untrained. Pleeease, for the sake of the singer, and Luann---let her sing properly next time! They deserve it! :)

  • Hey, I'm not greg, I think it's pretty good.

  • Its cute! Much better than Hey Boy...It has Luann written all over it!

Greg, Luann is still one of the first strips I read. Great Job!

  • Not bad Greg. Good job on the graphics too.

  • I agree with Luann's parents.

  • I can only assume Greg woke up from a stupor, quickly scribbled some lyrics and randomly adjusted the settings on Garage Band and got this.....thing. The song has no structure, the lyrics are vapid, the vocals are tuneless, and the music in an elevator has more passion in it than this song.

  • Why are there aslo like 30 year olds

  • images are a lil' too much

  • Incredibly tacky, it's not making me like your comic any more than I have been in the last couple of years.

  • I love these songs! I don't care what anyone says, I think they're cool!! <3

  • this is so tacky.....give up the music dude

  • Say what you want about this song, it's still better than Rebecca Black.

  • @atimnie this is absolutely true. thank u for saying that

  • No, I do not love you anyway.

  • Evans, you need to retire. I gave you a pass when you brought back Dirk, but your strip has fallen so far since then that even you must see that it's never going to pick up again.

  • Tuneless vocals, general MIDI instruments, vocabulary-less songwriting cliches....

    What's NOT to like? Wheeeeeeeeee.....

  • The voice is pretty, but the song... er... well, the tune needs work. I don't think it is terrible though. Needs a stronger melody/chorus and this sort of thing would be better if the chorus were in a major, not minor, key.

  • It's funny, but that doesn't change the fact that its really bad

  • I thought it was pretty catchy.

  • Don't give up the day job LOL

  • I created another youtube account just so I could dislike this twice.

  • It's a fun little song; my kids seem to like it. :) It's not the greatest, but they did say in the comic that it was based on a poem that was written by Luann when she was a kid.

  • yep mad as a hater, alice.

  • ....i liked it! maybe its not "great", but its fun.

  • Yup... cartoon characters can't sing :(

  • She can sing but they keep doing dumb songs

  • test

  • Don't get me wrong. I have read Luann for years now.

PLZ o PLZ don't quit your day job! =)

  • Wow - bad. But MUCH better than that Rebecca Black thing...MUCH better.

  • Oh man, this is bad. LOL! But then so was that Rebecca Black song (except maybe Stephen Colbert's version.)

  • I'm pretty sure this isn't meant to be taken seriously, people :) It's not like he claims it's going to be a genius song...quite the opposite. And for the record, I was that age not very long ago, and trust me, stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason.

  • I think I'm going to hurl. :/

  • video is horrid but i must admit the song isnt that bad. a lot better then the last one.

  • I'm pretty sure high schoolers make music at this level in the real world too. I once heard this one Rebecca Black girl on Youtube, holy shit.

  • add a bass line in there! it would make it why better, then dont have the reverb so high on the electric guitar, its contradicts the studio sound of the drums. Good groove on the drums. :)

  • well.... as long as luann as quill lol

  • Make Luann's tits bigger.

  • yeah, this is pretty urgent

  • This is being offered for sale? Who would buy this schlock?

  • Okay, while this song was a MINOR improvement on the last one, it's still not good. Actually, it's bad. Very, very, very bad.

I can understand the need Greg would feel as a newspaper cartoonist to try and branch out, but going into music is NOT the way to do that.

  • @drfleau

Ask any high school girl if this video is good in anyway. Evans has consistently proved he knows nothing about high school girls and just plays on tired stereotypes. It's fine if he stays in Luann World but if he branches it to the real world it makes no sense, Luann would be the biggest loser in school for making these videos.

  • So many negative comments, so little intelligence. I've read a few teen girl's diaries (I was bad) and I've read worse "poetry" than this. Put yourselves in Luann's mind, not Greg's.

Besides, the music is from an australian dude, so it's half his fault.

  • @drfleau I think it's funny that you say that the people that post negative comments have so little intellegence, yet you go on to post that you read teen girls diaries, like it makes you some kind of expert. It sounds like you need to be on "To Catch a Predator" Real smart, confess how creepy you are, when calling others dumb. BTW Does it show low intellegence to disagree with all of your opinons, or just those about comic strips?

  • Tell me I didn't see a butt

  • I can't thumbs-down this enough.

  • haha this was cute I liked it better than the other one

  • The guy who does Cul de Sac gets Parkinson and this a-hole keeps on making this crap.

  • @bartov that is really rude

  • @bartov your a dick

  • Aw how cute Greg wants to do music videos, stick to drawing your masturbation fantasy

  • Please, just stop.

  • @krohach2

Greg, stop lying! It's alright to be ashamed of your awful video. This has to be you because..

    a) You're ignoring all the other comments, the vast majority of which are negative. Denial is the first step, Greg!

    b) You're asking where my video is. Just because you made an awful video Greg doesn't mean I have to torture everyone as well!

Read all the comments, ignoring your alt accounts. This is an intervention. You need to stop with these videos.

  • Sounds to me like too many of these folks see too much of themselves in the lyrics, sounds and looks like typical teen to me.

  • When you have been together for 40+ years your lover knows EVERY fault!

But you love me anyway ... :-) :-)

Just like I know EVERY screwup (and every time they peed on the carpet!) my kids (and grandkids) made and STILL I love EVERY one of them!

I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE FAULTS AND ALL!

  • Video pictures are good though. (otherwise I wouldn't have been ABLE to listen to the whole thing.)

  • Is there anything as depressing as an adult (who can't sing) trying to sound like a teenager?

(She's just 'talking' the words - yikes)

  • Ok, I'm not going to try to be mean, but I'm gonna let you know how I feel about the song/video. The lyrics made the "Friday" lyricist sound like a deep, poetic genius. Although Luann is supposed to be a teenager, Rebecca Black (age 13) still sounds completely better (auto tuned or not). The beat: generic and lame. The video used every clichéd web picture out there. Sorry, this should not happen again.

  • it's like i'm really back in 1998!

  • this is bad....can i puh-lease suggest another singer for luann? puh-LEASE!!!

  • Goodness, what's with the hate? the song's just for fun. .__. don't like it, don't listen to it.

  • Oh no
