Keep coming back to this video. That's the best sounding CBG I think I've heard. I'm in the planning stages of building my own. Do you recall where you placed the pickup?
@cffellows Thanks!! I think its alittle in front of the bridge up toward the bass strings. Before I epoxy it. I move it around using tape to hold it down, and try to find the spot where it sounds the best. Let me know how it turns out. Lenny
Check out the cigar box nation. You'll find a plan there.Thats what I went by.I just used a pine box from the harley shop. Any box should sound pretty good. This one has a Shatten soundboard transducer from Stu Mac. Its just a piezo mic. They are pretty easy to make. If you decide to make one you'll find alot of help at the nation.Or ask me Let me know how your doing.
One of the better CBG guitars I've heard on you tube, sounds absolutely terrific, not too clean as it should, but crisp and strong ! Very well done, much much better than the first one ... a shame I live in Belgium and nobody makes these here... continue the good work, and if' yould ever sell one of these for Lefties,, haha,, let me know okay! I'll be more then glad to order ;-) B regards Hélio
Wow!! Thanks!! I appreciate your comments! I'm not building right now but Check out cigar box nation. Making them is half the fun. You could be the 1st person in your area to build one. People really respond well to them. I thank you again for your input! Have a nice weekend. Lenny
Thanks! Yeah. I looked at these plans .They have them at cigar box nation. Then I just used a Harley box instead of a cigar box. Thanks for your comments.
The crickets chirping, the water splashing in the distance, the clouds filter the moonlight, fireflies and moths zizag into fire. Homemade wine ringin my ears, finishing up my tincup of bullfrog soup,,and then Bubba takes a swig of Muscadine wine, burps while he leans towards me,,then he says "Ya kno', you got a reel purty mouth". Deliverance,,,Man this has a great swampy southern sound.
Hearing the beautiful sound of your guitar in the video got my mind focused on trying to replicate it so much that I forgot to say, "GREAT VIDEO". The guitar sounds great and so does your playing. Keep it up.
I am building a cbg and I am wondering: when measuring the frets, do I place the bridge and nut in place, measure the distance between, and then calculate where to place my frets or is that in the wrong order?
Thanks!! I appreciate that! What I do is decide where I want the bridge and nut then I go to Stew Mc Donald and use their online fret calculator,I believe its located under fretting supplies. You punch in how many frets you want and the distance between the nut and bridge. It will give you the fret spacing. Or if you have a guitar you can measure its scale ,then use its fret spacing.
If you use one of the online fret calculators.Stuart Mac Donald has one ,and Shane Speal has a fret scale you can use.
When you get your frets marked right it also tells you where to put your bridge. Its not as hard as it sounds. One of mine has a movable bridge, sometimes I move it around for different sounds. When I get harmonics at the 12 th fretI know its back in place.
Thanks! I would check out Scotty's cigarbox guitar page. You'll find plans and lots of different idea's. Yahoo also has a good cigarbox guitar forum. I like making my own boxes. I think the HD box was pine. My latest one is made from a oak pallet.Check out some of the you tube video's you'll get some good idea's. Thanks again.
Thanks!! They are fun to build.
